Thank you for this video. It really hit home to me. I went through the “cute mom, comfortable look” in my 20’s. Then slowly evolved into who I am now in my 30’s. Now I am in my 40’s and have never been happier or felt better about myself. Who care’s what others might say! 💕
I'll always remember how in one video, it must have been at least 4-5 years ago, you said you don't mind looking like a bimbo, that's your style. And I loved that, the way you used a somewhat derrogative term and just said it and owned it. And I remember it every time I want to buy or wear something that is celebrating me being a woman, instead of thinking of it in terms of "oh, that's too much" or "oh, that's too little"... After I had my son, I went through a period of feeling self conscious. Most moms here wear Lilly Pulitzer, designer brands, or Lululemon athleisure, but I can't help that I like rock tees, cutoffs, and blue hair 🤷😂 Once I just accepted my style, I felt so much better. I actually get compliments all the time from other moms! I have realized that my style IS being experimental, and it's okay to not do exactly what everyone else does. Being ourselves is what makes life fun 😊

I remember even as a girl I was never jealous or mean to other girls because I always admired how different we all were. How some had something a little extra, be it being really really pretty, or having great hair, or eyes, or looking really good in shorts or jeans, or even the “plain” girls I could always find something special about them, their voice, they could tell a good story, or could cook, I mean anything to lift a person. My friends would tell me “you’re such a cheerleader,” and I was and still am. I never understood the mean girls or today the haters, and I never will. What a confidence booster and your are so right on everything you say. I am a curly girl and I recall coming home from the hairdressers with dead straight hair for the very first time and my whole families jaw dropped when I walked in, it was complete silence! The funniest part was my beautiful dog who took three steps back and growled at me, even he didn’t approve lol. I've been following your channel for maybe 12 years, and this has to be the BEST video you've ever made! I sincerely hope it goes viral. It had me in tears (in the best way) because I'm going through a period of my life that will totally change my future.On April 8th I lost my mother to this terrible covid19 virus. I've been a faithful daughter all my life of 62 years and find myself totally lost, confused, and emotionally displaced. She is with my Dad, who passed in 1985 and now I'm on my own without parents. I feel like I need to find myself all over again, and I'm not sure who I'll be when this grief passes. How you expressed yourself in this video was just beautiful. You brought out the fact that our true "sense of self" cannot be found in a closet or a makeup bag, but inside our very heart and soul. Only when we are genuine and walking in the glow of our own inner light can we be a blessing to our loved ones and the people we come in contact with. I took my daughter to Tractor Supply the other day and ran into someone I go to church with...she said they saw my car out in the parking lot (my license plate says FILM MUA so they knew it was my car) and her kids said to her “Why is Miss Donna at Tractor Supply? She’s too glamorous to shop here” Now I don’t think I’m too glamorous to shop there but I did appreciate that her kids recognize that I like to look nice...I totally get what you are saying...We need to embrace our style, (even if I like to dress like a rocker chick sometimes....haha)....XOXO💕💕💕
I admire the way you’ve handled other people’s opinions on your appearance throughout he years. I’ve watched you for quite a long time and I’ve seen the amount of comments about your looks. I don’t think anyone should put up with that. It’s one thing to give your opinion on different subjects, but when it comes to someone’s appearance, unless it’s a compliment, you should keep your mouth shut. Also, I never thought the short hair was “cute”. I thought it was chic and refined, beautiful! I think personal style is a journey and we should never let other people’s limitations stop us from wearing and being what we want!!! My whole life people questioned my choices, people with terrible taste and tacky style. These days I no longer allow that type of commentary. And neither should any woman!

Totally agree that style comes with confidence and age. I’m very much a makeup girl and most actually all my friends are not and they often say how can you be bother with it all ( and I’m a wing, bronzer, full face - everyday) I say it’s just me, it’s what I love.....I’ll never change my look. I completely remember the platinum blond days, and the shoulder length hair.... Ive just recently cut 13 inches of hair off myself... but all that did was give my hair permission to grow like.... amazingly fast!

You REALLY hit the nail on the head for me in this video , to find my own style and be what makes ME happy ! I get flack for always wanting to have my makeup done when I go out but it’s who I am and I love all or nothing .. people know this and I’m not going to change , then when my dad had his heart attack , god bless his soul he is doing better now .. when we went in to see him , the first thing he said after we said I love u is “ can u get me my hair brush ?” I now know where I get my “primping “ from LoL and we won’t change .... u are beautiful inside and out and your videos make me feel beautiful even at almost 57 yrs old , I’ve finally learned to be my own person ... I just adore you! You, without a doubt, are the most genuine, sweetest woman on RUclips. When my babies were little, (I have four), I dressed them in head to toe Gymboree or baby Gap. I dressed myself in Hunters, leggings and cashmere. It wasn’t me, and I never felt comfortable. But, I was trying to portray an image. It wasn’t long before I broke back out my concert t shirts, ripped jeans and flip flops. I felt like me! And to this day (some 15 years later), that is still my style. The look that did look like you but was different was the Scott Barnes/Tati look. You rocked that look and made it your own! I think that is the most important takeaway. I remember even as a girl I was never jealous or mean to other girls because I always admired how different we all were. How some had something a little extra, be it being really really pretty, or having great hair, or eyes, or looking really good in shorts or jeans, or even the “plain” girls I could always find something special about them, their voice, they could tell a good story, or could cook, I mean anything to lift a person. My friends would tell me “you’re such a cheerleader,” and I was and still am. I never understood the mean girls or today the haters, and I never will. But I’ll tell you Lisa, that’s why you are happy, that’s why I’m happy, Our outlook on this thing called life is filled with Faith, Family, & Friends, that’s what’s important. What a confidence booster and your are so right on everything you say. I am a curly girl and I recall coming home from the hairdressers with dead straight hair for the very first time and my whole families jaw dropped when I walked in, it was complete silence! The funniest part was my beautiful dog who took three steps back and growled at me, even he didn’t approve lol. I've been following your channel for maybe 12 years, and this has to be the BEST video you've ever made! I sincerely hope it goes viral. It had me in tears (in the best way) because I'm going through a period of my life that will totally change my future.On April 8th I lost my mother to this terrible covid19 virus. I've been a faithful daughter all my life of 62 years and find myself totally lost, confused, and emotionally displaced. She is with my Dad, who passed in 1985 and now I'm on my own without parents. I feel like I need to find myself all over again, and I'm not sure who I'll be when this grief passes. How you expressed yourself in this video was just beautiful. You brought out the fact that our true "sense of self" cannot be found in a closet or a makeup bag, but inside our very heart and soul. Only when we are genuine and walking in the glow of our own inner light can we be a blessing to our loved ones and the people we come in contact with. I took my daughter to Tractor Supply the other day and ran into someone I go to church with...she said they saw my car out in the parking lot (my license plate says FILM MUA so they knew it was my car) and her kids said to her “Why is Miss Donna at Tractor Supply? She’s too glamorous to shop here” Now I don’t think I’m too glamorous to shop there but I did appreciate that her kids recognize that I like to look nice...I totally get what you are saying...We need to embrace our style, (even if I like to dress like a rocker chick sometimes....haha)....XOXO💕💕💕

I admire the way you’ve handled other people’s opinions on your appearance throughout he years. I’ve watched you for quite a long time and I’ve seen the amount of comments about your looks. I don’t think anyone should put up with that. It’s one thing to give your opinion on different subjects, but when it comes to someone’s appearance, unless it’s a compliment, you should keep your mouth shut. Also, I never thought the short hair was “cute”. I thought it was chic and refined, beautiful! I think personal style is a journey and we should never let other people’s limitations stop us from wearing and being what we want!!! My whole life people questioned my choices, people with terrible taste and tacky style. These days I no longer allow that type of commentary. And neither should any woman!

Totally agree that style comes with confidence and age. I’m very much a makeup girl and most actually all my friends are not and they often say how can you be bother with it all ( and I’m a wing, bronzer, full face - everyday) I say it’s just me, it’s what I love.....I’ll never change my look. I completely remember the platinum blond days, and the shoulder length hair.... Ive just recently cut 13 inches of hair off myself... but all that did was give my hair permission to grow like.... amazingly fast!

You REALLY hit the nail on the head for me in this video , to find my own style and be what makes ME happy ! I get flack for always wanting to have my makeup done when I go out but it’s who I am and I love all or nothing .. people know this and I’m not going to change , then when my dad had his heart attack , god bless his soul he is doing better now .. when we went in to see him , the first thing he said after we said I love u is “ can u get me my hair brush ?” I now know where I get my “primping “ from LoL and we won’t change .... u are beautiful inside and out and your videos make me feel beautiful even at almost 57 yrs old , I’ve finally learned to be my own person ... I have watched sooo many haul videos and bought what other people love only to find i didn't love it. I love the stories you shared too because it made me go back and think of things people have said to me. And what compliments do I love to hear about myself. I just adore you! You, without a doubt, are the most genuine, sweetest woman on RUclips. When my babies were little, (I have four), I dressed them in head to toe Gymboree or baby Gap. I dressed myself in Hunters, leggings and cashmere. It wasn’t me, and I never felt comfortable. But, I was trying to portray an image. It wasn’t long before I broke back out my concert t shirts, ripped jeans and flip flops. I felt like me! And to this day (some 15 years later), that is still my style. This is so true. It doesn’t look like you without liner and lashes! That is just not our Lisa! The natural collaboration look you just did was not you. The look that did look like you but was different was the Scott Barnes/Tati look. You rocked that look and made it your own! I think that is the most important takeaway.
