Wish this channel existed 20 years ago when I was a teenager just getting into car audio. Everything I learned I had to dig around on the forums and spend hours upon hours doing research.
This is exactly what I was looking for. And They say the RUclips search algorithm is broken. Props on the video. Perfect place I could have started my journey into custom audio.
Mark is very thorough and detail oriented. You can find everything you need from his channel. It's nice to find it all in one place. When I was 18 it seemed like everything was shrouded in secrecy.
Dude! You’re helping out the car audio world so much with your videos. I talk to people all the time that have no clue what I’m talking about so thank you
Ive always been inspired by you and I love your videos. Ive been trying to create some boxes myself and I do a bunch of LEDS for them. I really enjoy it!
Could you make a part 2 going over what ohms mean (in laymans terms lol); monoblock, 2 channel and 4 channel differences; what each knob on a standard amp does; what parallel wiring is, etc. Thanks in advance!
Great video, terms you can also explain would be, ohms, bridging an amp, capacitors, clipping an amp, distortion from subs, airspace I know you hit that one but...
Ah, yes. Speaker ohm ratings are an extremely common spec that everybody in car audio should understand. It affects amplifier performance and speaker performance.
Man I’m glad you exist! Lol I was finally able to explain to my lady on the terms of audio! She’s was always asking and I really just couldn’t explain into detail on what the terms were and into detail ! Thanks for helping me and possibly everyone else!
Bruh.. you just explained everything!! Literally everything an average guy at home needs to know. I know a little more but generally if someone watches this and went to a shop for installation they’d know enough to see if they’re getting ripped off or bad job done. Nice one buddy! I like this!
Cool dog. Hertz is also a speaker brand. I'm a retired electronic technician so I understand all these terms but I do occasionally come across something I hadn't heard before. It's interesting some vendors don't recommend a crossover for component systems - probably because the tweeters come with an inline non-polarized electrolytic capacitor whose capacitive reactance increases as the audio frequency lowers. I wish I still had access to all that test equipment you have.
Hey man great job with info videos I am new to car audio world i have just finished install on my budget build 2 svc 4ohm 12s picked up for 50 each built box enclosed before I knew anything picked up amp from Wal-Mart 1000 wat 4 channel jensen and ran into few probs was so mad 😠 was bout to give up then started watching some your videos and realized I had factory head unit but was using rca low input when i needed high was blowing fuses nightmare all figured out now so im hooked gonna stay with this set up till I can do these big upgrades still alot to learn so keep them videos coming thanks man great job
great video, thanks for spreading the knowledge, wish i would found this channel before i started my car audio upgrade, the professional car audio stores in my city were not the best resource for helping me come up with the best system for my application.
Just a thought. I’m sure some people would like to see a video about wiring subs. Going over the different ohm loads how it affects the amp and things like that. Thanks and keep the videos coming
Good info wish you would have explained clipping when you discussed the gain. Been watching a lot of your vids and am about to try fiberglass for the first time
Thanks very much Mark, for this great sharing. I just know and understand that DSP is a must component for audio system. From this video, I explore more about the DSP, and now I can tune my after market radio unit and amplifier to sound like the factory built in audio system :) Great thanks for this fruitful sharing :-)
...a fellow dog lover... i knew he was a pretty cool dude, but that confirms it... a dog named hertz... VERY cool dude! ...thats awesome... & good job on the vid man... ive heard alot of these terms before, & even had a general grasp of the meaning, but i did not know alot of the technical aspecs behind these terms... thanx bro & god bless u & hertz
Great Video👍🏿 I know im late, it being 2 years old already. Im an amature installer, and when I go to the local sound shop and begin inquiring about these Particular products, I cant seem to get them to go into details like You. because Im wanting More control, planning on going with Focal 3way comps in my Caddy Srx(2014 Premium)for my front stage, Deleting the center stock speaker, and now, realising how the position should be angled, But my Rear stage is a pickle for me, Because of those 2 speakers in my rear decklid. Now, after listening to You, solidified my choice in for my rear doors & decklid & about investing into an A/C DSP. Most importantly, saving me some $ in my build. And intergrate my new Tesla style unit. Thanks!✌🏿
Great stuff! I finally understand crossover and hertz ranges. I haven't seen a video yet about cables. What makes a good cable and what should I avoid.
Grrreat stuff dude!!!! That really helped, I have one question though in modern amplifiers what would be the dangers of hanging them upside down on the roof of an SUV?
Thank u for taking time to do this👍 Maybe some specifics on speaker definitions? And maybe u already covered this in a speaker selection video, but Freq response, S/N ratio, or for bass box building Qts, Fs. Bet your sound stage is on point in that car🤘
Fuck yeah, Mark! Very well presented. Wish your channel (and RUclips) were around back in the day when I was learning all this stuff. You just saved so many people so much time!
Great great video Mark!!!! 👍👍👍 It was very helpful for people who are trying to learn about car audio!!! As far as when you talked about the difference between SPL, SQ, and SQL sound systems, for a person to achieve having a SQL sound system what kind of sub's, speakers for the mids and highs, and amplifiers would a person have to use to be able to have that kind of sound system!!! I have only seen people with either SPL or SQ sound systems!!! How would a person be able to distinguish between a SQ vs a SQL sound system when listening to both Mark??? Please explain!!! Once again great video!!! 👌👌👌
I appreciate this info....I like to be prepared so I'm not ripped off. Audio places want to sell equipment more than fixing sound. I'm happy to pay for more labor! Levinson systems should NOT have aftermarket replacements, no?
Love the video only suggestion is maybe in the description list each word in bulletin with or without definitions would be very helpful for a refresh without watching the whole video again.just starting to get into car audio running 2 sav2 12s with a sa3000d on stock doorspeakers and pioneer headunit. Thinking about putting 2 alternators in with capacitor. Any suggestions would be helpful! Looking to upgrade door speakers whenever i have more money and get tweeters with 3 components
If I’m using a 5.25” mid driver of a component set in a 6x9 opening and I want to get the most out of that speaker, what do I need to do? I was thinking of a 6x9 foam baffle filled with poly fill
Please help me. I have an alpine 600 watt amplifier and two 10 inch kickers. Just the other day the amplifier was blinking red and now that I've regrounded the wire, it's back to normal. Except when I hook my subwoofer the subwoofer shoots up and stays in the up position. Everything is connected right. Any tips? Thank you
So with the stereos out now, with all the options to tune your music, like the keenwood dnx995s. and the amps with their dsp settings, how much would I gain if I get the dsp from audio control?
I upgraded my old stock speakers with the new aftermarket speakers for better sound to my stock head-unit radio that has built-in GPS and XM and other apps that I use so don’t wanna change that however, my speakers sounding worse than before. Do u why is that?
When you are recording or editing an audio file on the computer the units are opposite so it goes from negative infinity up to 0. If it gets too loud, it hits -6 or up to 0 then you get peaking and distortion which are the horrible sounds that clip the audio. So when you are recording you want to stay away from that area and have it around -12 and adjust the gain on your recorder so the audio levels don't reach too high
Need some cheap but decent 6.5 speakers. My car has 2 sets and 2 flush mounted tweeters with 6x9 in back deck. Its a Harmon Kardon system. Suggestions?
I need help on a 4 channel amp.i have 6.5 front door component speakers and 6×9 3 ways speakers for rear.my 4 channel amp has a lpf or full range or hpf.which do I set for speakers?and how do I Set Hz for front and rear speakers.?
Hey man, really appreciate these videos. Have you done any work on a 2019 300? Wondering if I need anything special to keep the factory head unit and hook up an amp with better speakers. Crutchfeild has a list of compatible amps I can use but I am not sure if I will need a special harness or connector to use an aftermarket amp with it.
Hi i have questions about alternators. You briefly mentioned a battery to power your amplifier i believe? So you're saying you're not using your alternator to power all these peripherals/accessories in your car? I was wondering if i did perform this setup, i'd need a higher output alternator for a certain vehicle of course right? I was wondering, where can i find a alternator for a S2000/modify and take it apart and have it internally make more power or something.
Great video thanks kindly! Curious about how you have you BlueSea Split Bus fused block setup...are you using the switched portion (B) to turn on your DSP and then have the remote out of your DSP turn on your amps? Or do the switched terminals on the BlueSea turn on all your devices?? Many thanks!
@@CarAudioFabrication gotcha thanks! I was planning to have my relay's out wire go to the main terminal of 'B' portion of the Blue Sea split bus to act as the switched input wire. And constant power from my Connection sfd41C to the main terminal of the 'A' portion of the BlueSea split bus. Then have wires from the 'B' to devices that need switched power and wires from 'A' to those that need constant. Doing so to keep all devices fused from the BlueSea. Am I on the right track?

I like the way you did your teaching on this vid vs the box volume vid. Easier to understand. Thank you.
I'm trying to learn all about car audio for my work, so learning the basics. You did well on how you presented the infomation.
Very good info.Starting to get back into car audio. It's a lost art.
