Interflug Tupolev Tu-134 D-AOBL on the way to takeoff at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport SXF

On a Saturday afternoon in April 1991, there isn't much going on at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport SXF. Flight IF474 to Copenhagen Kastrup CPH, the capital of Denmark, is the only Interflug flight during this time. Enjoy the Interflug Tupolev Tu-134 D-AOBL and its engine sound on its way to takeoff, shortly before Interflug, the GDR's national airline, ceased its operations. Enjoy the view on the apron from the observation terrace without any restriction by glass or a railing without a camera hole directly on the parked or rolling aircrafts. In the distance you can see a large part of the already parked Interflug fleet, mainly Ilyushin Il-62 and Tupolev Tu-134 airplanes.
The at the time of recording still independent Berlin-Schönefeld Airport (IATA code: SXF, ICAO code: until 1995: ETBS as a GDR airport, then EDDB) was the GDR's central airport and, along with Tegel and Tempelhof, one of the three international airports in Greater Berlin. The terminal building of the airport is integrated today as Terminal 5 into Berlin Brandenburg Airport (IATA: BER, ICAO: EDDB).
The aircraft was delivered at Apr 02, 1976 to Interflug as DM-SCX. At the day of the German reunification at Oct 03, 1990 the registration was changed to D-AOBL, as you can see in our video, but in Sep 1991 after sold to Soviet Union it became CCCP-65621 and after the fall of the Soviet Union the airplane received the Russian registration RA-65621. Broken up May 2014.

I remember the ´good old times´ in airliner aviation. In SXF, I liked the variety and was very happy when I saw e.g. Finnair DC-9s, Turkish Airlines 727s or enjoyed the sound of several TU-154Bs.

Eine wunderschöne Erinnerung! Ich liebe diesen Sound. Es erinnert mich an meinen eigenen Flug mit dieser Maschine - es war unglaublich beeindruckend, zumal ich damals erst 11 Jahr alt war. Es bleibt unvergessen!🙂
