I got one of these today. My partner has asthma and we don't have a room in the house where I can spray without triggering it, and I also live in a cold state where I can only rattlecan for some days of the year. So I needed something that I could use outside comfortable, and that didn't depend (as much) on weather conditions. I tested it briefly and got the same issues as you did, unfortunately it's just too unreliable and the area it covers is too small, even at that scale. Thank you for the video, it confirmed that it wasn't just a me problem haha
I completely see a use for this. The short version is there are times where I really, really, want to paint, but may not have the time or energy to deal with setting up my spray booth cleaning it up and breaking it down after during my work week. I can prime with a rattle can, then grab this and go.

Enjoyed watching your latest video. Gave me a great idea for gifting it to the young ones to enjoy. Hard to find things that hold their interest. Thanks
I am a miniature hobbyist. I’ve been wanting to start up my own channel for awhile which will be a budget diy and tips Hobby channel. I’ve looked at many different products for airbrushing; mainly inks (acrylic, drawing, alcohol and watercolour inks) and dyes (leather and fabric). I’ve found with alcohol inks that you need to mix them with an acrylic medium or a transparent varnish (gloss or acrylic) to work best but you can also try putting down a layer of acrylic medium first, allowing it to dry a little until it’s slightly tacky and then spraying the alcohol ink over it. You can experiment with the drying time. It’s going to be different depending on which medium your using and the environment you’re in. Hotter, dryer areas are going to dry faster. This is also a great way to apply mica powders to your models as well. The perfect way to dry brush. When the medium is almost dry and is just a little tacky is the sweet spot. Experiment and give it a go. I’ve made some great translucent glazes with alcohol inks and matte varnish.
I think I have thought once in a blue moon " I wish I could spray this marker colour" and have even 'decanted' a marker to put in my airbrush. I may get it, for that very odd situation where I'm willing to spend the high price/volume of a marker colour compared to a bottle of colour, to spray it. Thanks for finding and testing it, I certainly would never have come across it otherwise.
It does work, plus I was shocked how well it did with the Sharpies, and those are inexpensive. By the way, it's currently $72 with a coupon that's on Amazon
Thats is kinda neat actually. Looking forward to that WIP video. Hopefully that can be the start of a new series, that would be pretty awesome! Great video of a novel gadget, love seeing you review these not so run of the mill things, makes for great viewing. Hope you and your wife have a good weekend!✌🏽
Not really a fan of the product...but I am very happy for you having your wife home again. Take care of her and yourself. Thanks for making interest content. God bless you and your wife
That's the craziest thing I've ever seen. Reminds me of blow pens lol. Hope you don't mind, I wanted to ask if you had any tips on color matching specifically reds. I have a figure I'm attempting to clean up but I can't nail the red on it. Also glad the wife's back home! That's great news.
Need to mention though, for kids.. kinda big and heavy side for them to carry and spray around. Maybe in the future the newer version would be smaller. Thanks again for review this interesting airbrush marker. 👍
I think the the battery airbrush setup would be betty for the kids, painting with tamiya paints are safe no thinner needed and teaches them from the start how to airbrush
Depending on the tamiya paints. True(water based) acrylic, yes. Most of the tamiya acrylics I find at my LHS are hybrid(laqur based) acrylics. Not quite as safe for kids
This is aimed at folks who need a paint solution but dont have the space or ability to set up an airbrush station. Kids with Gundam markers would be an ideal target audience to get them into the hobby with paint choices as well. Nice item though probably overpriced due to limited market sales, again a great introductory tool for new folks and younger ones to the hobby and will give good results.
Interesting but as to practical uses I think you hit the nail on the head using as a safer, cleaner alternative to an airbrush for kids. I was thinking it may be good to paint the small parts on a car kit like shocks, carbs and air cleaners but as soon as I saw the price I said nope. I’ll just deal with cleaning the airbrush no matter how small the job.
Thanks for the review. That is such an odd product. Who would have thought of it? It looks like it works with most markers but I can't see spending $100 for it.
Only the makers made for models go on like real paint. I find the Dspiae needs to have a clear coat on top of it. But the solvent based markers like Gundam and Sharpie stick Well and take a bit of handling too
im suprised you didnt need to thin the paint with the gundam marker - I needed to watch your video because I was really close to buyng this without my research.
Thank you for the content, sharing, and thought provoking product. I understand the Acrylic Paint Markers/Pens are a challenge because you constantly need to remove the marker and pump/prime the nib; However, Oil based markers such as Sharpie/Copics do not need to be removed and may be sprayed for a longer duration. My question, if you are painting a Gundam body/Car Body, can the Alcohol paint be used directly on the plastic? or is it better to prime first? (or is this a bad idea all together??? In other words, stick with Acrylic or Lacquer for a Gundam Body/Car body). Your thoughts are welcomed.
I tried using sharpies on kits like 20+ years ago and I don't recall the color sticking properly and being sticky to the touch. Might try them on something again in the future.
That thing rocks. I like your metal mesh magnets manual stand. Don’t think I’ve noticed you using it before. Do you have a link or name for that? Thanks! Love the channel.
Certainly an interesting gadget, not sure about the market for it, though. Then again, I haven't used paint markers in 20 years, so it may be completely different now. I always had a hard time finding them at my local art store.

Dumb question but when you said the copic beads off, was the peice primed first? Just have the same issue with 40k models that weren't primed and brushed on acrylic
I wish to paint my o gauge railroad bridge with a type of antique silver or chrome. I'm modeling an active bridge with daily train runs...a little rust, active but a very 70 years old. This will be my first project using my airbrush . So what brand, color, and type of acrylic paint?
They should make airbrushed like this, where you mix your paint in a marker type container and insert it into the gun to spray, would be so much more cleaner and convenient
One of my more recent videos I sprayed Molotow Chrome ink. I opened a marker cause my local place was out of the refill chrome ink but it's the same thing. Check it out
Would you say its on par with the mr hobby gundam marker airbrush? I also have another question that's unrelated, do you plan on selling your panel liners internationally or only in America at the moment.

Interesting review....... I can't imagine using it, but see where it could be fun with a box of Sharpies. Although it does work, I don't think it would be cost effective, and with all the amazing model paints out there, purchasing pens to use the ink would be expensive and create a lot of extra garbage that is not recyclable. With all that said, it could be fun with kids, a great way to introduce them to airbrushing, but you would have to be sure to put it securely out of reach or everything in the house would have marker sprays on it! 🤣🤣🤣
There are marker kits that you can fill with your own paint/colors. So all you would have to do extra would be to buy the refillable markers and then thin whatever paint you use and then you should be good to go. I wonder if they would be a good way for this tool to be more cost effective?
