First of all, very nice blues playing. And nice chick'n pick'n on the tele - Nashville is waiting for you. My feeling is that you can't go wrong with Fender tube amps.. At 40 pounds, this one is a bit heavy for my 74-year-old back to be carting off to gigs. Fortunately I'm currently in a trio (no drummer) and my little 15 watt Fender Super Champ x2, modded with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun speaker, particularly with the help of an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, gets the job done quite well,. I have found that nothing fattens up and boosts a Strat like a TS 9 (level dimed, gain at zero). And the X2 has some killer overdrive/distortion settings on (the foot-switch-accessible) channel 2. I really like that the Supersonic is constructed of actual wood, as opposed to the particle board they use for the Blues Junior and some of the other Fenders.
Cool video! I own the two-toned brown SS22. It’s my main gigging amp. Love the deluxe 65 sound you get out of the clean channel. Like you the fat switch is pushed in. I love that sound too. The reverb on this amp is so tasty. I like using this amp with my VibroVerb 2x10. It’s a helluva mix which compliments each other well. I appreciate you doing this video to shed some light on this great amp!
The guitar is great, I notice the pickups are set very low. I think I will do the same, I keep hitting the middle pickup when I pick. Everything sounds great.
any cabinet ideas for the head version? I have a 2x12 with a v30/creamback and access to another v30, alnico blue, and greenback speaker at the moment - just wondering, as I currently have a hot rod deluxe iv & tone master twin reverb but have my eye on one of these for a different fender flavor and gigging purposes
The overdrive channel has some good harmonicy feedback, it's why I chose that distortion over any pedal, but my Angry Charlie on the clean side gets pretty close to the burn side, and can get you a bit more attack definition.
Great demo! I‘m thinking about buying this amp. I want a nice fender clean tone with spring reverb & the drive section seems to come in handy too. Would you mind telling your thoughts about the loudness of the amp? I guess live it‘s no problem since you just mic it up if it‘s not enough - but can I use it at home without being a loud neighbor? Cheers!
pick up a Little Black Amp Box from JHS, you can use it on the FX Loop of the amp (or in your pedal chain if you have one) as a master volume to dial the overall audible output. I use one on my Hot Rod Deluxe for when I'm practicing in my bedroom, with it I can crank the volume to use as gain and push the tubes, and then use the knob on the LBB as my master volume... works great, costs like 60 ish bucks if I remember correctly!
About 12 years ago I spent months and months researching and trying amps for a classic rock band I was in. After much searching I decided the supersonic was the amp for me! Then I made the mistake of telling the other guitarist who went and bought the last one from my local music store 🤦🏻♂️
@@zanebanks116 My bad hoss, I did a deep dive after I wrote the comment and found a ton of stuff. Appreciate what you do man. Chet Atkins would be wowed ✊🏼✊🏼
I just bought one of these. It seems very noisy. I see many players turn down the volume. If this thing buzz` es as much as it does on the videos. It is going back.
You sound like the great James Burton when you're playing that chicken picking Looking at an amplifier supersonic or the reverb torn between the two but I'm leaning towards the supersonic
That's an awesome sounding amp and as always excellent playing Zane 🎸 Would love to try out one soon!

Great review, lovely guitar and great playing!
Thanks so much

Thanks mate, yep, I keep 'em low on this Strat.
Great review and very helpful, just picked a blonde one up used
Thanks 🙏
Awesome! Enjoy it.
I appreciate u for this because i agree with u, i don’t see a lot of musicians cary a sonic22 in my entire life, most of them are on vox n marshalls
Thanks Denshu
Hey. Great video.
Thanks.
Tell me please, what is your opinion on the ss 22 1992 year product?
I can buy it second hand.
I have the Head Version and it kicks....... the amount of cabs that you will love are great.
This sounds great too though

Is a Deluxe reverb comparable in volume? Wow the gain channel really sounds good, sounds like a good overdriven sound!
Yep, it's the same volume as a DR but with a killer overdrive.

What are the setting you have on the amp for the intro?
What's that intro song bro ?? I never hear that one.Great video, great playing ! Thanks..
I have one of these. Great amp. But you're a fabulous player. Great video.
Thanks so much Raymond:)
Does the clean channel have any grit to it or does it remain completely clean even with volume maxed?
Clean channel starts to get a great 'throaty' breakup at about 4.5. Doesn't have the head room of a Twin though.

I'm gigging in a five piece band with one - general un-miced. I run it at TV volumes at home too but that's down at 1 on the dial.
I wander what the clean channel would sound like with a compressor
I really love the sound of this amp but I'm concerned it would be too loud to use as a practice amp.

Me too, lots of deliberation.
great review. Killer playing!

I’m gonna need a lesson on some of that chicken pickin’. You’re wild man. Great chops.
Thanks so much Josh. There are heaps of chicken pickin' lessons on my RUclips channel.

Fender Supersonic 22 = great amp ... but yes it misses the tremolo ... @fender why did you do that to us?
