Very comprehensive and you held my attention all the way through. Lots of hints and tips based on your actual experience rather than the manuals. I love the editing, including the humorous bits left in. You put in a lot of work and it shows. Well done!
Thanks so much Dani. I bought the Camptraptions set up and there was no manual or instructions, particularly for the sensor which is frustrating, so your slides detailing that is really helpful! Thank you also for pointing out the ethics involved in wildlife photography as so many people have cameras today, but lack the all important knowledge of their subject or the environment they are in. Great job!
This is epic! I feel so many photographers are very secretive about these things so beginner like myself have to spend a loooong time researching, spending heaps on buying the wrong things etc. This video is a fantastic start for me and has answered questions I didn’t even know I had haha thanks for this! Also, big kudos to the ethics section at the end. Another very important point, especially about the feeding! I think a lot of non-biologists wouldn’t think about this.
Thank you Dani for the very comprehensive video on Camera trapping. Very informative and learned a lot about how PIR sensor works in different mode. Thank you
Saw plenty of vids about camera traps and setup - by far, yours was the best - absolute fantastic - the whole gear and setup explained in so much detail! Thanks for sharing your experience!
nice video Dani , about the camtraptions manual thou i found it very clear and informative to understand would of been lost without it in fact ive printed the modes for switches part and laminated it for in the field , keep your vids going your a natural .
Hello Dani. Inspired by you, I am now building a camera trap for myself. I have a large plot of land with a lot of forest on it. I hope I catch a fox, deer or a marten. I was able to get hold of a Nikon camera with flash for less than 200 €. I will soon have all the accessories together and will start building. Thank you for your helpful video and for sharing your experience here. I wish you good luck and always good light !!
Clear and comprehensive vid--you're a great teacher! A question/thought about flash effects on crepuscular and nocturnal animals; even a few seconds of reduced visual acuity in the life of a prey animal makes them vulnerable since their predators are usually hunting nearby. I hope predators are repelled and not attracted by the flash. I really appreciate how you emphasize ethics and care by putting it at the end. You are awesome.
Thank you for this brilliantly informative video. I have often wondered about how to do this and you have explained really clearly and given the full list of stuff and included all the little stuff like wires. THANK YOU. Enjoyable and nice touch of humour also!
Hi Dani,Andrew here in Ottawa Canada, originally from the Uk. This was a really good video, thanks for sharing and putting the work and effort into this presentation
Fantastic informative Video, everything explained well, also liked some of your funny comments throughout the video, especially when something fell off or wasn't going 100% to plan.
Hey dude! Great video and you've got a nice presence on camera. Maybe you should keep that type of content for you and make some more videos in the future! Was alot of fun to watch you video!
Thank you for a detailed, easy, informative and educational video. It will be interesting to continue watching your channel from time to time. You have inspired me to try something similar in the spring. It clearly simplifies photography compared to long nights in a hiding place. I get to read about what applies in my part of the world where this type of unattended camera installation can be seen as surveillance cameras with a permit requirement.
Hi, I just discovered your channel and thought this video was really informative. One thing you could change in the set up if you don’t want the flashes to “blind” the animals or you don’t like the look of the photo due to the intensity of the flashes is to use an infrared converted camera and infrared filters on your flashes. However this will result in black and white photos but it will be totally stealth. 😃
I felt like I was back in college when I was trying to decipher what the camtraptions manual was trying to say lol Awesome video! You are great on camera!
I think I will start off in my backyard, I have been putting out a small quantity of dogg food. Ravens are eating it. I have some seed out there too, but nothing has found that. I will also try some chicken pellets, I hear that's popular.
Great video Dani - I’m thinking of getting some kind of trigger setup to photograph the hedgehogs that come to drink from our pond at night, and this has answered a load of questions I had :)
Dear Dani, Thank you for the video, I like it very match. I have also made a camera trap, only wireless. I use a nikon D7000. My problem is that the battery from the camera is down at 6 till 8 hours. Maybe you can explain it? I set the camera also at manual focus. Thanks, Klaas(Netherlands)
Dani try Cactus set up it's brilliant no cables one fits to your camera which transmits then depending on on how many recovers you buy just just connect your flashes to them and away you all the best Rob Lowe
Super useful video Dani! Great that you also discuss the ethics too as this has always been in my mind. I suppose for nocturnal animals like badgers then flashes will scare them so not a good idea to set a trap near their sett?
Badgers rely on scent and hearing as their primary sensors. They have poor vision anyway. So you're fine to use flashes on them. I would use diffusers though and limit the number of shots when triggered. Maybe set up with a bit of distance from the sett and lure them with peanuts before going too close to the sett.
Hi Dani, great informations. I wonder me how you will fix the case on your tripod? Perhaps you can deliver this information. That would be great to recreate your setup by my own. Many thanks
Great and very informative video Dani. One thing I would say though is that at times the text wasn't on screen long enough to read everything, however I guess that's where the PAUSE button comes in :)
Thank you for the video! I also purchased Сamtraption, but V3. Please tell me, why you chose a program with BULB-exposition in Day/Night mode? After all, with powerful flashes, you can also put a short shutter speed.
When you go setup for long term camera trapping, have you thought about using a single large battery pack to power all your devices? I guess every time you double the number of flash packs, you can halve the brightness? You can never have enough flashes.
My sensor has a sixth switch. Can I still use the same program configurations from this video and just ignore the sixth switch? Great video by the way!!
Helo Dani. How do you manage to save the baterry so it wont drain out? Y put my gear into the field and my baterris are out in less than 5/6 hours. I have a nikon D3100 and i have settit on to save baterry. Even so it just wont last the whole night. Thancks
Is this nikon suitable for photographing birds? I'm very passionate, but I don't know cameras. I'm also content with being able to take nice pics of my budgies at home. My phone does not capture their beauty!. Or for some bird in the window.
Hi Dani, Just setting up my own camera trap and was wondering which Trail camera you used in this video as the quality looks very good and I don't want to buy a duffer!!!! Your reply would be sincerely appreciated. Regards Pete
Hello Mrs Cannor Wild, I've recently become interested in camera trapping with a DSLR. My name is Rainer Ullmann and I live in Germany. Since there are no instructions on camera trapping in German here in Germany and I have seen your videos about camera trapping on You Tube, I would like to ask you which basic settings you use on the sensor and on the camera make.I would be very happy if you could help me with some information. Yours sincerely, Rainer Ullmann
You are adorable. If you keep at it, I expect you'll have little trouble building a lucrative career making content. Lean on your accent, don't tamp it down. It's mildly exotic for American viewers. Best of luck.
I share your passion for this kind of photography. Your video is very instructive and dynamic, and I love the music. Aren't you afraid to move accidentally the focus when you place the rain protections? That's been a little upset for me sometimes.
Occasional wildlife baiting is a big concern. It might not be harmful for the animal at all, but is harmful for any photographer with ambition. There is a lot of picture-takers who don't include information like that under their photos (of wolves or lynxes for example), which is tremendously misleading. Shortcuts for the sake of success and glory are everywhere. The video is quite good though.
My buddy does this to capture wildlife. He uses a big plastic bin with a lid and he has a hole cut in the far end of the bin. He left it out for a weekend on time, and when he came back hornets had started building a nest. So be careful if you did this. 🤣😂🤣
Can‘t watch. Is their any good reason, why every video with interesting content, must be destroyed with annoying backround music? BTW, I love your work!
Very comprehensive and you held my attention all the way through. Lots of hints and tips based on your actual experience rather than the manuals. I love the editing, including the humorous bits left in. You put in a lot of work and it shows. Well done!
Thank you Peter as always!

Gday from Australia Dani I love your work.
Well done dani, nice video and great that you included not also the theory about cameratraping but also have spoken about the ethics!

Nice tips! Loved you included the ethics section.
I found the music a bit distractive.
Keep creating! ✌🏼
should she turn it down ?
@@mikebennett4922 Yes definitely! Apart from that, love the video
True couldn't focused on what she was saying, but kudoes to her that she knows this much and telling us as well.
I think I will start off in my backyard, I have been putting out a small quantity of dogg food. Ravens are eating it. I have some seed out there too, but nothing has found that. I will also try some chicken pellets, I hear that's popular.
Great video, have been sat in the fence about purchasing camera trap sensors, might just give it a go. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻
Thanks! You make great videos.. such interesting things!
Question what settings for video on camera and the camtrap Please🐿🐿🐿👍

Hi, new to your channel, Like your crazy senses of presentation, made me smile as I watched you video. Interesting topic, Thanks Dani.
hahah thank you!!
If you really want to frame a Jaguar, plan an incursion to Brazilian Pantanal, at Porto Jofre. There’s no better place on Earth. Cheers!
Thanks alot for this video! Very informative!

Great video! Thanks. Where on the camera do you plug the pir sensor into?
Excellent! Thank you very much!
Quick question! How is your camtraptions connected to the camera? Wireless or cable? What cable or receiver?
Great and very informative video Dani. One thing I would say though is that at times the text wasn't on screen long enough to read everything, however I guess that's where the PAUSE button comes in :)

Which trail camera brand do you use? It is a bit of a jungle to find the right one.

You could fashion a bag from plastic shower curtains, perhaps bulk it out with a wire frame.
Great..keep posting
