South African GMA/M Beyer-Garratt 4126 at Creighton

Currently (September 2017) the only Cape Gauge Beyer Garratt operating in South Africa and the only Garratt operating anywhere in the World with a mechanical stoker. Running out of Creighton, it operates with the number 4074 but analysis of the components, particularly the boiler cradle shows that it is actually 4126.

Lovely loco. Is it the same class as 4079? “Lindie Lou” was always one of my favourites, what ever happened to her running career?

4079 is stored for Sandstone at Reefsteamers, Germiston - in need of tire turning which no one wants to pay for because there is little opportunity to operate the locomotive.
