Because of growing up with Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and reading all the in-game lore romanticising Balduran, this whole side quest was the biggest jaw drop in the whole game for me. Even more so than any of the main plot point twists in Act 3. Bravo, Larian.
Nice! I love the touch of Emperor's theme in this. His theme has so many variations in the game files, it would be really cool to get a similar mix of some of the Emperor themes. His music is propably all over the place though, I haven't even seen the ost from the vision he shows you (of his past) on youtube anywhere.
A powerful soundtrack for a powerful encounter. The whole ordeal with Ansur and Balduran had my blood boiling. I love this fight but the cutscene is just.. wow. Seeing him lay there now beneath wyrms rock kills me. No wyrm to help the save city.. sad. Thanks for the upload
Thankyou! Ive been searching for this track since i heard it in the game. Absolutely blew me away. Cant believe it wasnt included in the official slundtrack !.
awesome, thanks for this. ansur is beatifully melancholic, this suite, alongside the rosymorn monastery theme are probably my 2 favourite pieces of music from the game
I didn't know Ansur existed until my second run of the game - when I had already installed two mods that let me have more than 4 people in a party as well as raising the level cap to 20. I made the mistake of trying to give him a fair fight while being cavalier about it. 100+ lightning damage coming out of almost nowhere was...something to experience, I'll say that.
Why are the dragons always so tragic? I mean, just came here from the soulsborne games.... poor Fortissax and Midir :( now this guy as well.... being a dragon isnt easy.
In D&D, it’s quite the opposite. Dragons are not to be pitied and are considered pure evil. They’re a natural enemy to everyone and everything with the exception of metallic dragons, Ansur being one of them. That being said, it’s pretty said to see one of maybe few good dragons fall to betrayal to a friend
I would love to hear a mix of the motifs from the goblin camp-there's a lot of good ones, from the party to the combat themes that I *think* are unique?
This track really gets over well the glory and tragedy of Ansur. Makes me despise the Emperor, especially when he simply said yes to saying being Ilithid was worth the loss of his best friend. Wish I could connect with Ansur to show I mean no harm, but alas.
And? However he will live is his choice to make. Ansur tried to kill his best friend, and his best friend didn't want to die, so he fought back. It is as simple as that, each did what they thought they had to do.
@@jasonlobo2350The Raphael fight had better music. They really needed more music for this game. I’ve seen games with way less content have way more music than this game did. Not sure why they skimped out on that
@@gabrielov8027 The amount of songs in this game is crazy, what do you mean lmfao. Give another game shorter than bg3 with more memorable tracks, im waiting.
oh how gladly i kill the emperor. with such wide smile. if my char could quarter the emperor alive, he would laugh loudly, even if he normally resists the dark urge
It makes me sad hearing this music… all that Ansur did, trying to save his friend. But Balduran, no, the „emperor“ this greedy foul wretched thing, ended the one that saved him. True, ansur would’ve killed the emperor, but dying as a man of honor, dignity and soul seems the better option than being corrupted to be a japanese octopus (no offense karlach). Happy I was able to make seafood out of him
The Balduran leitmotif was so good in that cutscene.
Was such a great reveal, one of my favourite moments in the game
When I listened to Emperor actor interview I thought damn he sounds just like the Balduran statue wtf
"let my bones rise and the storms gather, for this is the final tempest...I am the Heart of the Gate, i am the one who roars!"
It's,
"Let my bones rise, and the storms gather. Witness - Balduran... The final tempest has come."

the fact that at 2:55 the song of Balduran plays... Such a tragedy...

I have an empereror mix planned, but didn't really have the time for it lately. soo it might still come some day ^^

What are we supposed to do when he does the world of warcraft boss move?
kill
I wish we could break orpheus out of the astral prism before the point of no return so that there could maybe be a way to save ansur.
Ansur has been long dead since way before the beginning of the game. There is no way to save him.

did you find a way to browse sound files or are these in game recorded? my favorite combat themes are not on the released soundtrack and im STRUGGLING
I extraced them, yes. here's a guide: github.com/PKBeam/RiffExt it's a bit tedious but the process is worth it.

Does anyone know what track plays during the ansur fight?
Yes! A different version of Old Time Battles. It does not appear on the OST, but I included it in my Old Time Battles Extended Mix :)

Is there a lore reason why a bronze dragon is green?
Bronze goes green with age, look up "patina"
Rust 😅
Really really old only ancient copper and brass dragon turn full metallic green
I've been searching for this since release, thanks so much
This was such an epic scene,it reminded me of Smaug talking to Bilbo
The fact that they gave him an awesome ost for his cutscene and then just played a generic combat theme for the fight was so lame.
That generic theme is the Best fight theme of the game and only plays on selected fights

He didn't want to die. I think that's more than enough to empathize with The Emperor's position.
