I could be wrong here but if your T2500 is anything like my P1000, the bass knob controls the punch eq, which is bass boost, and that would 100% cause you to clip your sub to death. What I use is an RCA bass knob. I’m pretty sure that T2 can take 2500w rms no problem. I have 2 P3s each on their own P1000 and they take it full tilt all day everyday.
You can look at the coil and see that clipping was not the cause of the subwoofers demise. The voice coil was mechanically rubbing which caused a short circuit. As far as bass boost, Punch EQ, gain control or rca bass knob, they can all cause clipping if not adjusted properly.
Looks like to me the subwoofer was not blown due to clipping, looks like the owner had been rough with it and the coil got damaged then eventually tore it self apart while playing
1 ohm is too much power to that sub from that amp. Should have bought the 2 ohm svc instead of the 1 ohm svc. 2 ohms from that amp is around 2900 watts. I ohm from that amp is well over 3500. The rms for that sub is 2000. How’s it going now though?
With proper tuning you can play it as long as you want. This was clipped to high heaven. This can be from playing poor recorded tracks too loud or improper gain settings. These woofers don’t need to be cooled if the pole piece and cooling vents are allowed to do their jobs and not living outside the gap too long (clipping).

Clipped power looking at how the coil basically blew a hole in itself. I’ve got 10KW on my T2 16s and they’ve been going strong for the past 3 years now. Tougher to hear clipping though if it’s in a trunk.
Look again. Clipped related failures are basically the coil getting too hot. This can cause the epoxy to come loose and the coil to unwind. What we have here is a mechanical rubbing which rubbed through the insulation on the wire and caused a short circuit.
Several people are saying that even though you cut out all the soft parts, it can still be reconed for about $200 in parts. That might be something to look into.
Perhaps it could have been repaired, but Rockford was sending him a brand new replacement under warranty and he was required to destroy the old subwoofer.
Even though this fella sounds kind of rude, he is correct in that I'm not seeing how your pressure waves are going from the trunk into the cabin interior. Whenever you have trunk flex, that's sucking up your pressure. If you want to hear all of that face in the best option is to fire the sub and the port into the vehicle and seal off the trunk.
@@DesertRunner602 $999 now. And the 16" is $1200 But your paying for the "bespoke" design and engineering. But for that size it takes 4000w and is a beast! If you have the money and want a sub that is top tier build quality rockford has some awesome quality. Very tight and clean sounding subs.

Firstly, the coil was mechanically rubbing and shorted. It had nothing to do with the gain. Second, the adjustment of the gain is determined by your input voltage. If your input voltage is really low then you need to increase the gain. If your input voltage is really high you turn the gain down. There are certain situations where it's appropriate to have the gain turned all the way up.
