Yeah the main problem with he event is that vanilla is so exploitable and has a lot of op stuff as it is designed around single player and casual multiplayer rather than competitive and in depth games. That's why the devs do badly: they are thinking about how they designed the game to be played, rather than picking the most op strats
In general, Devs will be better than average players of their game, but far worse than the best players of their games. The best players simply play so much, and think in ways that Devs don't. Devs think "Ok, to do this, you do this, because I programmed the game that way", but the best players find ways that the Devs don't anticipate. It's why the Paradox Devs often lose games like this, and why they often get stronger starts.

It can happen, though not nearly as easily as it does here, if that's what you mean. And by "see it happen", I mean that I've seen Sealions land, but they rarely cap the UK and typically get pushed back into the sea, as they can't get enough supply. Dankus actually did the one successful Sealion against a good UK I've seen, and he did it by winning the air war and using transport planes for supply!
Dankus is Swedish, but he uses some German slang, as he speaks German in addition to English and Swedish. For instance, when he's saying "Alta!", that's basically German for "Oh man" or "Good grief". Hard to fully translate, but yeah :P
