It's nice to see someone found a way to get rid of the tether but I can't help but wonder if sound wouldn't be better for transmission of data? Are there wavelengths of sound that fall outside the hearing of cetaceans and other sound sensitive creatures? Seems like sound would offer greater freedom than optical.
The wavelength of light is in the nanometer scale. The wavelength of sound ranges from multiple meters to mm scale... the amount of data you can transmit (bandwidth) is much smaller for sound than light. Also sound would be affected more by water density changes than light. It's why 5g is faster than 4g etc.. greater data transmission per unit of time...

The Xbox controller is highly adaptible with a simple button layout, so a lot of companies use it for stuff like drones. There are even videos of the US military using them.

Don't those lasers blind everything they hit? Even the tiny plankton that can detect light? It's the equivalent of aliens coming to Earth and blinding us after a scan "for data."
It would have been really good listening to what people had to say, without the deep sea ambient diving music in the back ground, which was too loud for older people, with good hearing.

i see how much people love what they're doin' including video editors. thank you for your work. greetings from Moscow!
I love that this multi million dollar robots are controlled with a Xbox 360 remote. 1:23
A lot of thought went into making video game controllers feel ergonomic and intuitive! Plus, cheap, available, replaceable.
THEY SHOULD MAKE AN EVNAUTILUS XBOX GAME

This is an incredible achievement!
Fantastic. I see a day when the oceans hold no secrets.
By the time that happens, new secrets will have evolved.
This is incredible! This is the tech that will hopefully lead us to complete exploration of the oceans.
This should be international headline news

A great video !!! was able to watch some of it live and this video ties it all together
This is extremely fascinating! I look forward to contributing as a ROV pilot one day soon💚!!!
Great job creating this vid.

whats the protocol for when you come across a USO?
Great interest
