- Welcome to our brand new series, Open Crewsing! This is what happens when The Longest Johns dress up in a single pirate suit and try to look inconspicuous, before surprising everyone by singing for them and filming how they react.

The song was endlessly improved by the ambient sound effects of water, cannons, creaking wood, rain, etc. So great. More of that for all your songs!

And not to put too fine a point on it, I think this version was better than your album version. This one's a bit faster and added more to the piratey theme going on here with a driving force, also I think the woman's voice and notes in the album just didn't fit.

Sea of Thieves should have had gameplay with the Longest Johns singing a shanty like this as part of their marketing campaigns. IT would have gotten a lot more attention.
They had The Skullduggers perform around at the E3, so at least there's that. Shame they didn't get the attention they needed but Sea of Thieves is getting popular again, I hope it'll boost The Longest John's popularity, they seriously deserve bigger recognition.

I am coming back to this from 3 years ago when I am realizing that this is where my love for sea shanty's, bass singers, and all things acapella started.

We had been friends for a while, but found a mutual love for singing folk songs by dumb luck. Been performing together for 7 years now!

Strandophobia sea shanties are some of the easier songs to sing, and if you’re worried you can’t sing that high the bass lines are low and even easier to sing! The hard part is finding a place that can teach you/sing with
You do just practice the songs like I do
Get a teacher, even if you are a tough student (I had problems with something people just get instantly cuz I used to sing wrong for a long time) you'll be ok to listen in a year. 2 years = can just go and sing for people and they'll be like: dude you've got so much talent omgggg. Tellin you it's that easy, just need to practise every day for 30-60 minutes and go to teacher frequently to check on progress and see what you do wrong/right, or what should be done next
Not having the talent to sing is just an excuse. (Not trying to be mean). I‘ve seen this plenty of times in my life now. It‘s all a matter of practice. If you practice long enough you would be surprised that you can sing too. Same goes for drawing, or anything else. Being a natural means you are just faster and better at learning. Saying you can‘t do it because you didn‘t make that talent bloom is a lame excuse.

Everyone is always so happy when someone has a mic.
I grew up in the most Irish town in the US per capita, a small Montana mining town called Butte. (Fun fact, it was actually the second richest city in the US at one point as well). As you can imagine wether I wanted or not, I had to listen a lot of shanties and land lubber songs, stereotype style. I grew up learning to Irish dance with some of the coolest elderly Irish miners playing instruments like the winds couldn't keep up. I swear if I see you guys in SoT, I'm going to beg you all to let me get to harmonize _Leave Her Johnny_

There’s something about the moment right at 1:39 that I just love! I think it might be the combination of Robbie and Andy's fifth at “Tea and Rum” and then JD and Andy's third at “One day”. Both of those harmony things being super clean and resonating so well, amazing!
