Just a tip. I wouldn’t stack the wood inside the house. Tons of creepy crawly bugs will love the heat coming from the warm house and come alive and now you got more problems. Burned wood for 23 years. Always stack outside and when wood brought in instantly throw in fireplace.
Thank goodness we only have about an inch of snow that is currently melting here in Frankenmuth, Michigan right now. We've been lucky here so far this Winter.
Starting current is much higher than running current. What you're experiencing is very common with running any motor with a generator or inverter. Here's what your User Manual says: USE PROPER ELECTRICAL SUPPLY. This unit uses a large amount of current, especially during start-up. Connect this unit only to a dedicated 20A circuit with no additional loads (running devices) connected to it. For best results, use the outlet that is nearest to the circuit breaker panel.
I had a fireplace in one of my homes....I got tired of cleaning up the mess and toteing out the ashes...They are neat to log at....but; I don't fireplace,,,inside anyway. lov from South Alabama.
Electric motors of this type have a huge inrush of current when starting. The wattage given is the running wattage not the starting wattage. The power company electricity will supply this inrush but portable power stations usually won’t.
First time you get a chance, build a table for the splitter 28" tall. It will make your work a lot less back breaking. works just fine, just too low to the ground.
Jimbow. I think the same way yall do. Didn’t want a gas motor to maintain. Ended up with a 8 horsepower electric from northern tools. Was 499. And works great. We had an old DR Splitter that worked great for 19 years but the cylinder went out on it.
If you happen to have one of those clip on ammeters you can measure the start current that it takes to “kick off” the motor on the log splitter. The motor itself should have 2 different ratings on it, one for start and the other for run. You can check to make sure the starting draw is in spec to make sure the unit is operating properly and also to size your portable power station correctly. I’ve even seen people Jerry-rig those soft start capacitors for AC units onto other things to get around this problem with using alternative power sources but that would probably void your warranty…lol.
I’ve had one of these for years (same unit but different name) and it has been working fine. Make sure to keep the hyd fluid topped off. Mine got low with no apparent leak. Love y’all’s videos.
That's not a bad light duty log splitter. It looks light weight and portable so it's pretty easy to haul around. Your calculations are pretty close but with any electric motor you have to figure the start up load which is much greater than the running load. I don't think your power station is geared for that kind of load but try a gasoline generator. I have an electric chain saw that does the same thing to a power station but works great on a gasoline generator because the gas generator is rated for surge watts which is basically what a start up load is. Thanks for the video and review. Stay warm, y'all and merry Christmas.
Hey y'all! So glad y'all got one of those electric log splitter. I bought one about 8 years ago. I love mine. I split wood for so long I think it was time. Still works great! That was funny y'all put a picture of fire in the fireplace! So I get my wood from a buddy, but I help him with my splitter so he also has wood for his wood stove. Jim like your singing, lol. On that splitter make sure the tree is dry, cause it won't cut wet.Love the animals, music!
Beautiful Fireplace & cozy Fire burning... thx for sharing ... Jim, quick reflexes in jumpin outa way of that rolling log ... do they mske STEELE TOED CROCS . . ??? ... XXXXX 🌹
Stop all that racket! You’re gonna wake the baby! 😂 That’s gotta be the cutest wood splitter you ever did see! 😊 (Weird that the power station wouldn’t run it!) Those first couple of logs would’ve made perfect chimineas! 🫶🏻🌲😊❤️
So great to live where you guys live, GOD bless, and saying hello from chicago, worked a couple of years in Alexandria, LA, on gas refineries, great countryside
Still loving how the fireplace came out! I had a similar log splitter and had the same power issue. Definitely needed a 20amp circuit with a quality and SHORT 20amp extension cord. Since we do a few cords per year, I reverted back to our loud, gas guzzling Champion. Just works every time and plenty of firewood makes for a happy, and warm, house!
👏👏 Cajun Family!! Hey Jim , curious about that splitter, would it be possible to run an adapter from the vehicle to the power station and then to the splitter to give it more juice to run it?? As a backup source. Also, Jim, I surprised that you really can sing or least carry a tune. 😀👍👍 Lydia, you looked good what you were wearing, you looked comfortable that all that matters. Read someone's suggestions. 😁 Really great to seeing y'all video this morning. 😀 👍👍
Haha I'm thinking if that splitter works for ya you might live in south Florida or the tropics. Fisher Price had one about that size, I got it from Santa in 1972. When it was time to take down the decorations Dad split the Christmas tree. Best Christmas ever, or maybe not...
Just curious, with as many trees and hurricanes as you get there. Down the road, cause I know they are expensive, have you thought of getting a wood sawmill for your property? Peace ✌ and Love ❤to your family and hope you have a Great Holiday.
You know I was just thinking we haven’t seen a video about the inside of y’all’s house in over a year or so. Have y’all finished the inside already? We would love to see a finished house video.
I live in the wood stove country. I have a pair of Carhart coveralls that has a hole in the side leg. That’s been grabbed a time or two buy the saw. And a piece of sawdust in the eye is a bitch…. Just saying 😢 Oh did I mention splinters. 🥴
beautiful fireplace. Yall's little farm is coming along great. Between Jim's singing and the tree falling the opposite direction, I was a little.... um.... well.... lets just say Im glad its over and everyone is ok 🤣🤣 Have a great week yall!!
Hey Jim ,,just call lumber capital log yard ,,,they got all the firewood you need ,,lol ,,,but them girls is in Pennsylvania lol ,,they daddy is a great cook. Lol
Not to be rude, but very little heat comes out of a fireplace. If anything it draws warm air out of your house and sent it outside. Perhaps you should install a woodstove...
The generator you use for your welding unit will work. Get a better power station. By the way, the talking on the video did not match your mouth movements. Not sure if it was your video or my computer!

Nice to finally see that beautiful fireplace in operation. LumberJack in Crocs! 😁 You never disappoint , 😆Jim!

Jim and Lydia, your little kindling splitter is real cute 🤣🤣…. Stay Safe and Warm…….🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼🙋🏼♂️
Sorry the splitter did not work in the woods. Lydia! Muscles lady. Jim keep on singing the squirrels love it. lol. Take care y’all and stay warm.
I just love watching ya’ll! This is a feel good channel.
Wattage and amperage listed on power station is the constant run capabilities not start up surges get a higher rated power station

piece of cake for Harbor Freight, cuts like butter, perfect for light home use !!!
You got that right!
I love watching you guys
Thank you!!
Here in NC we call it white oak. Water oak has small oval shaped leaves. Love your channel. Country life is about the same here.
They pull 15 amps when running. They can pull over double that upon startup to get it running.
Good afternoon y'all .❤❤
In our family "racket" means loud deafening noise 😊
I'm glad you're getting to enjoy your fireplace..
Thanks for sharing with us.

That ol crawdad was ready for a good fight,
Sure was!

Try.putting hydraulic oil in it and have the wing nut loosened. To vent As per directions.. I split 4 cord with mine this past fall worked great.
Love the wet hair look for yourself 🎉

Nice singin' Jim! 😁
Hey Jim ,,now here is a real tip ,,call Wallace farm and saw mill over in Mississippi,,they got fire wood
With you both being welders a heavy duty splitter needs to be on your radar for the pto on your tractor.

Another great video ya'll. :) Wishing ya'll a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
Merry Christmas to you too!!
Great video, fireplace is beautiful, wood splitter worked better than I thought it would. Lots of love from pa ❤❤❤

Racket is noise in my vocabulary. Beautiful Christmas decorations!
👍👍 Have a Merry Christmas y'all from NE Texas
Crawfish outside just like that? Must be blessed with water and vegetation!! 🇬🇭🇬🇭

Racket is definitely a word in NE Texas. 😊
Like “safety crocs”racket is a Midwest term not as good as hootis but it gets the job done.
Thank you
“Racket” was the correct term! lol! That’s what we called it in Kentucky!
Just put new trends on my green 3 yeah crocs(fell on my butt hard yesterday OUCH!),used grinder, some folks use HOT knife.

Beautiful solution and low maintenance. Does the unit have a starting amperage?
🤣 You got a perty mouth, Louisiana is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time! Seems like that power station isn't so great
Racket is a word and I knew eggzactly whut you meant when you were talking about it!
You know I was just thinking we haven’t seen a video about the inside of y’all’s house in over a year or so. Have y’all finished the inside already? We would love to see a finished house video.

😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Cut next winters firewood this winter. Enough for yourself and close relatives and a couple extra cords worth for emergency
when is Jim going to release an album?
I borrowed a friend's 5 ton electric splitter, but was unable to run it on my 2000 watt power station.
Is there an AC-DC switch? Can it be retired for 12 volt?
"Racket" is any noise that bothers you.
Not to be rude, but very little heat comes out of a fireplace. If anything it draws warm air out of your house and sent it outside. Perhaps you should install a woodstove...
It’s actually heating our whole house! We did spray foam insulation so we don’t need much heat for it to keep our house warm.
Didn't you just cut down/cut up some oaks in your pasture??
All right Jim, you can write the song verses but let's let the pros sing it , okay? lol good try thou
The generator you use for your welding unit will work. Get a better power station. By the way, the talking on the video did not match your mouth movements. Not sure if it was your video or my computer!
Jim take it back and get a gas powered spliter come on. You know it's crap don't be a cheap skate.
GIRL…. Ya got to checkout the NEW car-hart/Duluth trading clothes for women!!!
I’ll check them out. Thank you!!
