    screen matched means it was matched to a scene in the movie. confirming when it was used in the movie. usually with a screen frame paired with the prop.
    lots of props get made and not all of them are the one you see in the finished movie. so screen matching is important to know you have the right one.

    Man who spend thousands and thousands of dollars collecting cardboard says "why would anyone spend money on movie props"

    • @2oqh
      @2oqh 11 месяцев назад +5

      I mean I think people can spend their shit on whatever but to be fair cards have more apparent value, some props are classic but most are things you’d never know are props unless it was certified, and even then it looks like a merch. It’s not a bad hobby just more niche and a bit less investment opportunity

      @@2oqhit’s so easy to google and see props have held more value on average and for longer there’s only one of them aswell unlike cards and they quite literally have more of a reason to be valuable cards only stay valuable so long as ppl enjoy one specific game with so much less cultural relevance to the majority of ppl and props come from many different movies and serve many tastes logically even ignoring the facts what is saying doesn’t make sense

    Thanks for checking out our auction Charlie - whilst some may not see the value in collecting props, to many others they are valuable pieces of movie and cultural history - and collecting helps prevent these items from being lost to time, damaged, or even sent to landfill (which is what happened with many items from Kubrick films).
    Whilst prices can exceed everyones expectations from time to time, we strive to curate auction collections which can be accessible to the majority of people, with items starting at £200. Our partner auctions (we recently held one for Better Call Saul) are always no reserve, so lots can be purchased for a lower price if there is less bidding activity.
    The process of screen-matching means our experts find inconsistencies within a prop such as scratches, threads, scuffs and use those to locate a props use within a film. This can sometimes be down to something as small as a frame, or it could a one-of-one prop such as the bible from The Shawshank Redemption!
    If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via our socials :)

      @@ant13ducks Yes! These are often the real items used in the films - and we can prove this by production paperwork, various forms for provenance like previous sales, or as the below commenter mentioned, screen matching! I think it’s a matter of what you’re getting. Sure, they’re the real gloves that Darth Vader wore - but who cares? They’re gloves. Gloves, as a clothing item, aren’t normally so expensive, let alone a close replica. Charlie makes a good point with the Freddy Vs Jason statue, it’s just not exactly worth that much to someone who doesn’t want it.

Cards aren’t really comparable to this there’s a huge difference between a rare card that collectors look for for years n a replica of a movie prop.
