    The vibe in the 90's was just magical, before social media, before 99% of people even had mobile phones, Before you could google anything, the world was still such a mysterious place, every day was a new adventure, everybody had their own unique style and vibe since nobody was copying what they seen on social media everybody was more creative and less influenced it was so pure, going to a new area or city truly was an adventure you never knew what kind of people you would meet or places you would see, Your homie would give you a tape with new artists you never heard of, you had no idea who it was but it sounded fire, Nowdays with social media, smart phones and google, the world is now so small, that sense of adventure and mystery is no more, most people are sheep, and every city you go to everybody walks talks and looks the same. I feel blessed to have grew up in the 90's, The feeling and vibe was truly something else.

      You pretty much summed up what I don't like about living in the current era. Every part world is getting more and more the same, and doesn't feel magical, exciting and mysterious like it used to. I was born in 2003 so it's hard for me to say what life was really like back in the day, but just from comparing the music and other media from now and the 90s it seems like life just had a completely different vibe.

      Cuz the main tone of all these beats is 432hz. This frequency is actually connected to the divine being aka our collective consciousness. Nowadays most of the trap and mumbling rap shit you here and other genres as well use 440hz to tune their instruments. It's actually a very sinister frequency that only weakens your consciousness.

    • @MarkyNomad
      @MarkyNomad Год назад +9

      @@tobik.2849 Do you mean right now or all time? Off the top of my head you have a lot of artists who went "mainstream" while staying true to their style and produced hit after hit like 50 cent and Kanye. The difference is that they pioneered entire new eras with innovation that changed the game rather than just re-creating something that already existed like most boom-bap rappers did. 808s & Heartbreak literally changed the entire course of the rap game, and I can't really think of a 90s album that had such an impact. Sure 36 Chambers, Ready to Die, Illmatic and Midnight Marauders were instant classics, but in terms of impact there is not really a competition imo.

      @@jazzygryphon Well, I know for a Fact it's not a bunch of them, but I also know that most of these artists are from the New York underground scene. One that's very popular is Afro. Not Afro Man, on RUclips it's Afro but his artist name is A-F-R-O. He has that kind of style and he's pretty young. I stay finding underground New York music every now and then. That's just one, but as I said there's not many. You can take it from there. Either Google, or RUclips underground New York rap. Even New York rap. You might find a hidden gem like I did a few times from one of these modern mixes...

      You had mainstream hip hop back then too, it was no different than other popular music, and the studios have been dictating to the artists since day one. This is different because it's small independent artists, but you had the same in every genre. The studios only dictate to you when you are big enough for them to pay attention to you. And since back then you only could become famous with a studio contract, it went both ways. Now you can release your own stuff to a wider audience, if you can get anyone to notice you.

    The picture for this video is a work of art, grimey as hell, emotioal, deep....captures the survival hustle nature of New York in the 80s and 90s. My props go out to the photographer..the way he put that broken chain link right in my eyes makes me feel like im there.

      I'm as white as they come, but my goodness, hip-hop actually told stories back in the day, easy to understand lyrics with good flows. You had dudes like MF DOOM with such creative lines where you'd have to pause and think "oh snap."

    There is a line in Mobb Depp's "Shook Ones" where it states: "They come around, but they never come close to". Probable Causes "Never Come Close" samples this line throughout the song (Or at least I am almost certain they do) 38:17. I am an avid hip-hop fan and the more I familiarize myself with all kinds of hip-hop, the more sampling I able to connect to their original songs. It is pretty cool when you are able to connect a line/sample in a song to another song. It really makes you appreciate the art and artist(s). Sampling is one of my favorite aspects of hip-hop. It is almost as artists allow other artists to live vicariously through their own work, while also paying a tribute to them.

    This whole mix reminds me of working on my uncles Volkswagen in the winter when I was younger. We always use to work on his car in the cold garage listening to his cassette tape boombox. Me and my boy were parting out his Honda last winter in my garage listening to this mix and it brought me back hard to those times with my uncle. Love this mix. Let’s knock and stop worrying about all this bullshit we have today
