I’ve listened to hundreds of thousands of hours of various genres of music and this stuff still hits me the closet to home. Growing up in the 2000’s this style was still around but in small forms and having the chance to hear some of this now that I’m 28 years old is a treat to my ears .
Thanks for uploading these I can’t wait to drown out my life
Totally hear you my dude
I don't want to be a party pooper, just wanted to point out a fun fact that you're roughly only 250k hours old. So listening to hundreds of thousands of hours is basically impossible xD Unless you lied your age and are acutally a vampire, who knows 🤷
Jokes and facts aside, even tho I ain't a fan of rap music, but the 90's stuff is just too good not to like it. It's real, guys don't boast about having bitches, money and cars. No neon braided kids shouting skrrrt every two seconds. Real problems, real life. Got to respect that.
I also blame(thank) GTA San Andreas with the bomb radio tracks, and I bet you can relate since we're roughly the same age.

I get sad that underground hip hop is so underground that 95% of the world’s population will never even hear it. It’s so good it needs to be heard. 1990-2010 really was amazing to be a young kid loving REAL hip hop.
Have a love hate that it’s underground. I specifically will rep underground shit, because it’s where I’ve found the truest shit. I think Makin a name for yourself in the underground is much more of an accomplishment than Makin it onto the radio. Only thing, i feel it’s lost it’s feel due to social media you know? Like it doesn’t feel as personal as it used to.
if everyone heard it then it wouldn't be underground. i think the fact its rare makes it even more special. it's like a special club where only the elite minds come together
Well whats not real hiphop? Lmao

Just had the vocal riding the beat in the very first song and it makes a good jingle to push the rhythm beyond the sonic space it comes from.
Exactly. Tired of mainstream rap just flexing. No bars.
im just 17 yo, been listening to this style like 4 years already, hope i stay on this path and when im 60 ill still be listening to 90's rap

Best era in hip hops history, not for the sound, but for what hip hop stood for. The escape of the hell that was an urban lifestyle. Where men were universally cut down for ripping off someone else, where originality reigned king and bars weren’t just for prison cells.
Well said
i disagree this is the best sound in hiphop ever. it is hard, to the point and no bullshit. they sound smart, talented and angry. the people being pushed by record companies today sound like retards who wouldn't know artistic merit if it bit them in the ass.
There have been better moments in hip hop in 2000s and 2010s.. be it sonically or lyrically
I recognize a few Canadian/Toronto rap artists on that list, cause I personally knew them. They were always underrated, but super talented.

Man imagine all these dudes back in the day. They worked on this stuff for hours and never really made themselves a big name, but even then, they still released absolute bangers. I wonder where some of them are nowadays...
The most important thing is they do what they love. Fame and wealth sure can makes you happy but they're out of our control so I think they're somewhere out there, proud of what they've created instead of being depressed because they aren't big names.

Find myself listening to 90s and 00s hip hop more than anyting else. Greatly more. I wonder if the boom bap and 90's rap style will ever make a return in modern hip hop. A lot of modern 'hip hop' sucks but there are some incredible current artists still in the genre. Hip hop has taken over my soul.
