    In my opinion the Indian Scout is pure perfection in terms of looks. Not just as a cruiser but as a motorcycle in its entirety. Big fan.

    I had my Indian Bobber parked right next to a brand new Harley 48 at the weekend, everyone was looking at the Indian, I had 2 people come up when I was getting off and on the bike and ask me about it, no one even noticed the Harely.

    I have a 2015 Indian Scout. It’s my second bike ever. My first, which is still have, was a 2016 Harley Street 500. I love the Scout. It gets soooo many compliments, even in stock form. It’s soooo fast. Handles amazing, feels really light with a low center of gravity. Gas mileage is pretty awesome too, usually right around 50mpg. Cruises great, does 100mph without breaking a sweat. Sooo love this bike.

      I would love to have the Scout Bobber, but it looks like a very small bike. I’m only 5’11” and it looks like I would be very cramped up on it. The Scout just has to giant fenders that just doesn’t look good. And what is up with the ginormous out of place exhaust?

    • @stogie0608
      @stogie0608 4 года назад +2

      akaredcrossbow exhaust is made to meet EPA emission regulations. Harleys don’t like to talk about that as they don’t really play by the rules but aftermarket parts are always available for this bobber. Only way to tell how you feel about the bobber or regular scout is to pay a visit to your local dealer and see how you like it in person.

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 4 года назад +1

      FatStogie yes I know, first thing to go when I got new Harley’s. At least Harley stock exhaust is decent looking and can be left on for some time. Indian Scout Bobber looks like their selling the exhaust and the bike is included. The one problem is not much to choose for exhaust except slip ons. I haven’t seen a good aftermarket exhaust system for Indian, they all looked pieced together with parts that don’t fit and that just doesn’t look good.

    Rode 3 Indians at the dealer yesterday. I'm selling my sportster. In the 08 models they had a recall on the gas tank threads for the cap. This allowed a leak and my tank rusted allowing a bunch of crap to go in the filter. Wasn't caught soon enough. Bikes only got 11k miles and all they will do for me is clean the threads in the tank so it seals like it should. Pump kit at hd is almost $300. Fuk hd, I'm buying a scout. Better bike in every way. Made my sportster feel like a moped. 60mph on a scout u are at 2950 rpm. Sportster is rattling ur fillings out at that speed. Dreams over for me hd. I'll be drifting on an Indian instead of dragging pegs at the grocery store.

    I agree with most of the comments, you get a lot more with the Scout than you do for the 48. The 48 does have more customization, but that’s it, but with taxes and so on they’re basically the same price. I think another good comparison would be the new Triumph Bobber Black.

      This really can't be overstated enough - it really is just personal preference. I bought the Indian Scout ABS - just always wanted one, and I loved the more retro style. Have ridden it for a few months. I love it, and will own it forever. However, dad rides Harleys, and I can say that my second bike would be a HD. There is a more aggressive mechanical sound and feel that you don't get on the Indian. The Indian has more of a hum than a rumble. You almost expect to hear a turbo spin up. Not knocking the Indian at all, but it just depends on what you want to get out of it. Some days I feel more Indian, some days more HD. I really don't think you can go wrong either way.

    The EVO motor in the Harley is such a fun motor to ride. The rubber mounts let it shakes just enough that it feels like an old school ride, I wish the sportster had a 6spd. The look, feel, and sound of the sportster are just so good. This is a hard choice but I’d have to go with the HD.

      The dual front brake Triumph Bobber Black hitting the dealerships in March of 2018 will be The One to compare to the Scout Bobber. Until then, the Scout motor and dual front discs push it ahead performance wise.
      Style wise, I love the Triumph, not that the Scout styling isn't cool as hell too. Harley just isn't competitive outside the riders (and there are many) who want to deeply customize their rides.

    The Scout may be just a little bit higher in price, but you get more bang for your money with the Scout. The Scout has a modern overhead cam, liquid cooled engine to begin with. It also has a 6-speed overdrive transmission. That means it's cooler to ride when it's hot out, and with the 6-speed it most likely gets better fuel mileage. The lower seat height on the scout means better handling with the lower center of gravity. The Scout is really a bad ass when it comes to power, as it will blow away a Sportster any day. The only advantage the Sportster has is it's potato-potato idle sound that Harley riders love.

    • @CakeDispenser
      @CakeDispenser 7 лет назад +3

      Good comment. I like the style of both Harley and Indian but i dislike the sound if Indian bikes. I hear a engine whine sound from and Indian and i don't like. I know it sounds like i'm being nit picky but it not something i want to hear from my bike when i ride it. Indians are nice powerful bikes more powerful than a Harley though im not looking for power. My first bike will be a Harley 48 and lite on i'll buy a Indian FTR1200 and that if Indian approves the FTR prototype.

    • @johnayres1220

      I don't know what you mean about the noise. My buddy has a Scout, and we've rode together a lot. Haven't heard any unusual sounds from his Scout. I ride an Indian Springfield, and it basically sounded like a "Harley Milwaukee 8" until I had it upgraded to Stage 2 with Rush pipes. Now it sounds like a Milwaukee 8 on steroids. I like the heavier bikes like the Indian Chief series and bikes like the Harley Street Glides & Road Kings, because I like to tour.

    • @CakeDispenser
      @CakeDispenser 7 лет назад

      Here a link to the engine whine. Listen to it when he revs or passes by. When it comes to cruiser i only like the HD Softail slim because it gives of a Harley WLA look, I couldn't see myself on a Harley/Indian touring bike. I just don't like the look of them. If I was to get a touring bike id probably go for a Ural motorcycle, which comes with a sidecar.

    • @johnayres1220
      @johnayres1220 7 лет назад

      Friend had a Ural. He had quality issues with it, and he seemed to think it was under-powered. I can trust a Harley or Indian, and they have lots of dealers all over the USA. In 2013 Indian did not have a dealership in Indiana, but now I have 3 dealerships within 50 miles from my home. Polaris really put life back into the Indian brand, but it cost them the Victory brand.

    • @CakeDispenser
      @CakeDispenser 7 лет назад

      John Ayres If Ural have a bad reliability then I just add a side car to my Harley/Indian. Idk why I didn't think of that. Back in 2014 I wanted to buy a Victory Gunner but I gave on it since I was fresh out of highschool and I needed to save money for college. Sucks to see them go. I think it was bad marketing that killed them off.

    I love the red Scout with tan seats, but the problem is, so few Indian dealers, Harley dealers are more accessible.
    I was looking into buying a Harley Sportster 48 new from an L.A. area Harley-Davidson dealer. The MSRP on that 48 is $11,299, the only added option was the security option which was about $400. The out-the-door price I was quoted was $14,600 & change.
    I was stunned at the price, it seemed high to me, especially since I read that motorcycle sales have been sagging and Harley was offering financing deals in April. Is this par for the course?

    ISB handles well compared to the HD48. I used to have an ISB, trade it in for 48, I have no choice because it became very expensive for me. There's no motorcycle shop around my area that has the right knowledge in installing aftermarket parts. There's a little to none after market parts to put on the ISB in the US. So your choice of making it your "own" is slim. The 48 on the other hand has tons of aftermarket parts that you can put on the bike.

      I'm really not worried. I have roadside assistance from being a member is "Indian Rider's Group", so that eases my mind. Actually if you do a dealer search on the Indian web site you'll find a lot of dealers, and they keep opening new ones. In Indiana they didn't have any dealerships in Indiana in 2014, but now there's dealerships all over the state. Two new ones opened last year. Indian is cutting into Harley's market share by double digits now, and actually that's great for American consumers since Harley is making better bikes now with refinements and new models.

    I didn’t have a 48, but I had a Roadster which was also a 1200. Just got my Scout (not a bobber) 2 days ago. I loved them both. But my wife likes to ride with me so that influenced what I got-should have stuck with the Fatboy for that. Having an extra gear is huge, especially getting on a highway. The Scout is a little longer and two up is easier and better, even with the slightly smaller engine. If I could have a pure bobber just for me, it would be the Indian. I love the Sportster line, but I think the Scout line is just better. The accessories will catch up as sales increase.

    On paper it's hard to pick HD over Indian. But you can build a sportster with just an engine and all aftermarket parts. Something to consider.
    Comparing bobber style though, it's all about looks and this is tough.
    Indian has 100hp but it's made higher in the rev range thanks to that liquid cooled engine. HD has always been about low end where most riders feel the pull. I believe I saw another comparison video and due to those differences they are with less than a second of time for 0-60 (Indian being faster).

    • @redsolocup7854
      @redsolocup7854 7 лет назад +1

      OneDown ThenUp agree with what you said, however, one second difference in 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is a lot in terms of drag racing or canyon carving.

    • @onedownthenup8486
      @onedownthenup8486 7 лет назад +1

      Red Solo Cup , agreed, Indian is .7 seconds faster 0-60 for 2015 model. The high horse power and rev range will definitely help in the long run. . A lot can change in that time though. I do wish my sportster had a 6th gear.
      Below are the rear wheel stats for 15'
      Sportster; 65.16 lb-ft @ 3800 rpm /60.78 hp @ 5800 rpm
      Scout; 63.53 lb-ft @ 5900 rpm / 84.88 hp @ 7900 rpm .

      FAR less part options to customize an Indian.

    • @bakedbeard4203
      @bakedbeard4203 7 лет назад +4

      Jason Duerr yeah but it’s all off the shelf stuff for Harley so it makes no difference because you just end up with the same parts on your Harley that someone else has . I don’t care about aftermarket parts . Either way I don’t buy off the shelf . One off custom parts are the only true custom aftermarket parts .

      What about repair costs? Is one bike/manufacturer cheaper to repair than the other? Im not talking just using oem parts.

    • @westerncivilization
      @westerncivilization 7 лет назад +1

      That's a good question. HD has a lot of volume and availability. I imagine the prices between HD and Indian for repair are probably really similar. Indian probably takes longer for major service, especially if you consider the distance you need to travel for a dealer. This scout is damn good looking.

    I'd get the Indian Scout with fenders that protect the radiator and keep me from wearing a skunk stripe in the rain. A passenger and cargo can also go along if necessary all for about the same price AND they come with clear coat and shiny bits. I'll take the Jade green thank you.
    One thing the Harley has going for it is simplicity. No radiator or valves to maintain. 2 gallon tank and lack of ability to carry anything make it impractical for anything beyond a bar hopper.
    I do like the headlight on the Indian Bobber.

      The Triumph looks awesome. The biggest disadvantage with the Triumph is that it's chain driven opposed to the Scout which as a belt. So with the Triumph you'll have to clean and grease your chain every 500 miles or so. The Triumph also has less horsepower. However the Triumph looks fantastic.

    A better comparison would be the Indian Scout to the Sportster 1200C. I see a lot of these reviews and they always use the 48. The 1200C has a bigger tank than the Scout and therefore more range. It's also set up for carrying a passenger. Another thing to consider is that Harley has a mass of add-ons compared to the Indian, for example adding a fuel gauge, from what I've seen the Scout doesn't have one. The Scout is a great bike but it has a radiator, there's plenty of metric cruisers in that category.

    • @theoau
      @theoau 7 лет назад +1

      I get your point, but the problem is, the Scout Bobber is just a Scout with different styling. You have the same seat, the same tank same everything as the Scout. Whereas the 48 has a smaller tank, smaller seat, different bars than say a 1200C. You could call any Sportster a bobber.

      I agree, I think the 1200C would be a better comparison and yes the HD has a slightly bigger tank. However, we have these two bikes that ride with us and the Scout gets better range. Conditions were Canberra to Sydney in Australia cruising at about 110klm hr pretty well side by side. It might be different at different speed or conditions, perhaps up through the mountains? But on city to city at freeway speeds, the Scout had a good edge. Hope that helps?
