Great review as always!
La Roche Posay has replied on insta that the fluid has a PPD of 55.8 and the gel-cream has a PPD of 39.5😊
Amazing, thank you so much for replying!
Did they say anything about the PPD of the tinted version?
@@tammylam2907 I don’t know if they’ve released that unfortunately
thanks :) by chance do you know what the PPD of the other uvmune products are? (hydrating creme and fluid)
@@amyamy8177 I believe the fluid is around 46 and the cream is around 35, don’t remember the exact numbers
I love Tamuno!! Thank you for this review Ramón!!! ❤️❤️ Eucerin’s Oil Control for the win-definitely going on vacation with me soon!
The video we have been waiting for!!
I always thought the original fluid formula was a bit sticky and definitely did not have a dry finish. I'm now not the only person who thinks that 😂
Love your thorough spf reviews 💜
LRP Anthelios Dermo Pediatrics was matte,non-pilling but it has been discontinued. The UVMune fluid is shiny AF and I bought a lot when it came out😜. The Eucerin Sensitive Protect Dry Touch 200 ml is matte but it pills a tad bit on reapplication. They released a 200 ml Eucerin Oil Control this year but I haven't tried that yet.
I'm trying Vichy Capital Soleil Mattifying now,I might get the UVMune Oil Control Fluid. The old version of Anthelios Oil Control gel cream pilled like crazy on me and the new one looks similar.
For a really matte finish, Biore UV Kids Milk is super matte but only PA+++.
The least shiny chemical sunscreen I have tried is Round Lab Birch Juice Sunscreen.
Great video!Eucerin oil control is my favotite sunscreen ,but you made me curious.I will be trying these😊
Agreed 100% with your review in all aspects. The uvmune oil control fluid made me look like the Tin Man from Oz and smell like grandma (I’m male, and a Fitzpatrick II) and the gel cream is better but still not very matte. I still use the Eucerin oil control for the face on weekdays at the office as it still is the only one that looks like I’m wearing nothing, but wear the UVmune gel-cream for weekends out in the sun for the extra protection. During the week, I also use the uvmune 400 gel cream on my neck and ears as the little bit of extra shine looks good there and I like the extra uva1 protection.
Great video!!🎉
Another tip I've just discovered is using the 2020 Anessa Perfect Milk, which is almost too drying and mattifying on me, in a thin layer to mattify sunscreens that are a bit too shiny.
Oh and also Innisfree No-Sebum Powder is the best in case anyone else is interested in a powder to take down shine. I guess I'm just sharing these tips in the hope that they might help someone who struggles with shiny suncreens!
I also use a powder on top on my very oily t-zone. With It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores loose translucent setting powder I can make every sunscreen work:). P20 kids even
@@queenofstitcheswarrior2668 I'm a guy and don't wear make up, so I don't understand the make up world. So from your comment I assume setting powders make every sunscreen matte? Or is it just the specific brand that you mentioned? I get super oily during the day, and was wondering if this would help me.
I got the Gel/Cream version and yes i feel very protective and yes mat unless when you reapply and the day and night different from hydrating cream 400 Uvmune and even more mate than the normal liquid 400 UVmune
Both made me very shiny, and the yellow/orange cast is very noticeable on me
So my skin is both dry AND acne prone. I like the gel cream quite a lot and feel that this sunscreen is made for someone like me. I don't think it's as sweat proof as it claims tho, which i noticed during a steep hike up a mountain. That's my only complaint so far.
Great review as always Ramón. I live in the U.S. and I have tried the original non-tinted, fragrance-free, fluid UV mune 400 and I really liked it overall. I was excited when I heard about a new formulation target for oily skin, but was turned off by the fact that it contained fragrance. Ugh, i hate it when fragrance is added to amazing products. We should start a petition to have LRP remove fragrance as one of their ingredients for their sunscreens.
No. Fragrance is not the devil! Stop fear mongering!
There’s is a no fragrance version…only for the cream
And these are oil control
But they do have it in a spray and this one is anti shine
I’d love to see a comparison video of these sunscreens and BOJ/Cosrx
This is Gonna b so Helpful Ramon🔥🔥🔥👍n Happy Sunday😀….
Ramon you need to try out the new Eucerin sun allergy protect gel-cream spf 50+!!! It's soooo nice for oily skin on the face and is 150ml
Hello, Ramon, I have sensitive oily acne prone skin and using retinoid at night which makes my skin dry and flaky. I use lrp oil control gel creamn for some time. I find it non drying and shinny like other high protection sunscreen, it's not really matte though. My skin didn't produce much oil throughout the day using it, and it's not stinging like the liquid version. This is my HG after trying dozens of sunscreens.😂
I love love love la roche posay spf’s ❤❤❤.
I have extrremely oily skin (greasy skin 5h after using a foam cleanser and no moisturizer), and one technique that made a BIG difference to the finish of this sunscreen is to :
- use around 4 pumps on my fingertips and rub each hands fingertips together (5 fingertips of each hands together)
-then pat lightly the sunscreen with my 10 fingertips on the face to have little dots everywhere on the face. Key is to use light pressure.
-then I can rub it in effortlessly, but not only that, it somehow looks way more even and "matter" than when I used to just rub it on my face.
The finish went to overly dewy and congestionned feeling (face feeling hot), to a natural finish with a lightweight feel on the face (it feels like wearing nothing on face although I apply the correct amount of sunscreen 4 to 5 pumps). The oil control part is true imo because although there's a slight pleasant shine, the true greasy sebum like texture appears way later in the day.
I used to hate this sunscreen because of how a pain in the A it was to spread for a dewy finish, but changing from rubbing to patting first made a huge difference to how pleasant it is to use now.
This summer I went with the LRP gel cream but I had to get my skin used to it; in the beginning, it would sting a bit around the eyes and my face would feel the heat, but now it's all good. I'm not a fan of the packaging though. At some point, I have trouble squeezing the product out of that tip.. oh well.
Fluid is not matte on me either but I actually like the glow it gives. It does not sit heavy or make my skin oily as the original one did.
spf 50+ means above 60 in europe! BUT 50+ means above 50 in asia! 😊
This is like double face palm for LRP… Even after reformulation they cannot make matte sunscreen, but continuing to advertise it like such XD
True. So annoying
I'm also annoyed by the fact that it has fragrance too.
I think it may be impossible for anyone to make a sunscreen with high UVA protection, but yet is also matte and black-skin friendly, since you'll definitely need to sacrifice one out of the three factors. Sunscreens with high protection will be oily since the filters are mostly oils or dissolve in oil, but too much mattifying ingredients will also add white cast to the sunscreen as well.
Just use matte powder
@@mrdrogba7642yeah thats what I do. Specifically just a powder foundation with iron oxides and im ready to go
I agree it’s not matte if you actually apply a measured amount. Most people aren’t applying enough sunscreen.
try applying a mattifying/loose powder before the sunscreen....sometimes can help with making things more mat and oily/combo skin friendly ......
I haven’t tried the Oil Control Fluid, but the original UVMune Fluid is very shiny and too greasy on my skin. By contrast the Oil Control Gel Cream absorbs super well - honestly one of the best I’ve ever tried and it’s also the most matte European chemical sunscreen I’ve ever used. On me it is subtly glowy but pretty dry touch and it doesn’t budge. No yellow cast on my fair skin either.
Which one do you mean ? The one in the tube ?
@@helenalovelock1030 I like the one in the tube! I will say that's the finish with no skincare underneath, or 1 layer of toner max. It's definitely more glowy if you add more skincare, so my top tip to reduce shine is to really really reduce skincare under sunscreens.
@@amelie4363 ahhh thank you. My names my daughter Amelie. Beautiful name 😍
@@amelie4363 ok great I will try that. Thankyou
@@helenalovelock1030 Thank you :)
Oily acne-prone skin here as well. The gel-cream is really nice in terms of texture and application but not mattifying at all. I had higher hopes for it in terms of that "oil-control" effect.
You just shattered all my hopes 😢. I would kill* for a good sunscreen for my oily acne prone skin. I'm tired of having to choose between letting UV destroy my skin and being ashamed of how oily and dirty my skin looks because of sunscreen.
* (I'm kidding)
Nowhere did they advertise it to be matte. It's shine or oil control similar to the Nivea one. Its does work really well. You can use powder to mattify or use a clean paper towel to dab any excess shine.
Ramón, I bought the gel-cream, and it does subtly mattify my nose for like 4 hours. I only use this on the nose with either no or very little moisturizer under. Other parts of my face are drier so I use other SPF there. Of course, I am not impressed with 4 hours, but at the same time things can get too matte as well. I tried "Etude House Sunprise Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+" (a Korean SPF I think), which is super light but settled into such a matte powdery finish that it emphasized fine lines and just got... chalky. Considering that I am a madman who applies different sunscreens on parts of my face, I think the gel-cream gets a shy thumbs up from me. Not least because of the filter. With regular application, I know I have done what I can to protect against UV damage.
If you have acne prone skin you should try the Hyséac fluid SPF 50+ from Uriage
Thank you !!
As someone with normal/balanced skin, the oil controlling cream didn’t really dry me out so I wasn’t expecting them to be that mat lamoaoaa
Thanks a lot!
One technique I learned so that it looks natural-matte finish is the application: dab/pat not rub. Even if I applied moisturizer beforehand, this sunscreen still makes my skin look natural to matte. I have a very oily skin and this has helped me control the oiliness all day.
How do you make sure it’s not patchy? Do you rub it in and then pat it?
@@hummie3 not really rub. I think it’s “spread evenly” just like how you spread peanut butter on a sandwich. And then pat/tap it lightly using your fingers. That’s all I do. I have yet to try the Eucerin oil control gel cream (EU version). They say it’s a lot better in mattifying.
I have combination skin. I love the new LRP oil control fluid so much. The texture is similar to shaka invisible fluid in a less oily and less runny version. I would say the consistency is similar to the gold Anessa sunscreen. It also has some oil control property but don't expect it to be matte .
While the gel cream is more matte but it is harder to work with. Sometime it flakes and feel like putting a think paste on my face.
The shaka fluid is lightweight and easy to apply, but for hot and humid climate, it gives oily sticky feeling.
So which one are you recommending for a hot and humid climate?
Shake shake the fluid👌🏾 I love the sound it makes 😂
These formulations seem quite interesting to me. I am Canadian though and for some reason, La Roche Posay here still hasn't released a sunscreen with Mexoryl400. We have access to the older original formulations, but they are slightly different than the EU/International versions. They have Mexoryl XL/SX and Tinosorb S, but none of the Uvinul filters. The face fluid also comes in a 125mL "body" size in case if somebody might be interested. La Roche Posay Canada ships internationally I believe.
I live in Ontario, what is the name of the 125 ml? And do they sell it at shoppers or have to order it off the website please and thank youu
If the Canadian authorities have not approved the Mexoryl 400 filter, then LRP probably can't release the Uvmune series in Canada.
Garnier ombrelle recently reformulated their fluid sunscreen to be an exact dupe of the la roche posay anthelios sunscreen for a little bit cheaper.. if you want to buy it though, try to avoid shoppers because it's so overpriced at 26 dollars.. I found mine at Loblaws for under 20 bucks
@@mmmkk987 What is the name of it, Ombrelle has several sunscreen versions? Does it have a matte finish? Thanks
I use their SPF 100…. I like shinny! Think I’ll give them a try some day tho :)
The spf 100 label is a fraud. In EU it should be illegal to advertise a product like that bc it tricks consumers. I don't exactly remember if it's already illegal or it should be so, there was a huge controversy a few years ago but I've forgotten the details.
If it can help..
If you apply a mattifying setting spray after.. your skin will be mat
With the fluid i get a cystic pimple after each use! I don't get it! It's so thick on the skin also, it's so emollient. I'll stick to my Eucerin Oil control which is so elegant, so mattifying and truly invisible. I discovered it thanks to you. I would say the normal hydrating cream from LRP is lighter and less shiny for me. So disappointed, I really had high hopes because of this new filter.
Thank you Ramon for the Sunstick. I have been wearing it daily. It works beautifully on my acne, sensitive and hyperpigmentation skin.
I’m so bummed about the fragrance in the fluid. I’ve been using the creme and really like it but was so hopeful that I would really love the fluid. I will never understand the addition of fragrance in a sunscreen. Everyone can wear a fragrance free sunscreen but many can’t or won’t wear a fragranced product so it seems silly to limit the reach of your product by adding something that is literally unnecessary to the performance of the product.
I'm yet to try them on makeup but I'm sure they would make a good base.
It is def not matte LOL but it's less greasy than the regular UV Mune. Anecdotally people have said this has helped against their pigmentation way more than Eucerin oil control, so if someone is dealing with pigmentary disorders I would still suggest the UV Mune, set with some powder :). That boosted UVA1 protection makes a huge difference.
Which one is better for combination skin
I think it's PPD of 48. The previous LRP Invisible was PPD 42. I love the OG UV Mune and I'm a dry skin lady, so I don't need no oil control. This stuff is BOMBE. Though the 400 is YELLOW. I get the unscented UV Mune.
I was looking for a comment mentioning the yellow finish 😂. I love the high UVA protection, but it makes my skin yellow and stains clothes.
@@pb7591 I have given up on UV Mune. At first only occasionally someone would say, "Why is there yellow makeup all over your face?" I could only see it in certain lighting situations. Then I really started to notice it. My new HG is Ultra Sun FACE which also contains the Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate but leaves me like fish belly white thing that I am. If they can make it invisible, why can't LRP? I also have started to use other products like Altruist and Garnier Ambre Solaire, even though they are body SPFs I freaking love putting these on my face. They only contain Tinosorb S and Avobenzone I think for UVA protection, but that's enough for me. Also I am gonna be trying the LRP Shaka Derma Pediatrics. No 400 in that. Looks pretty similar to the OG, but dang it contains shea butter, which doesn't always work on me.
I learned a trick to achieve a mate finish after sunscreen. Use a tissue paper gently tab after 5-10 mins of applying sunscreen. Magic
I thought the gel crème was terrible. My skin tone is lighter than yours (around MAC NC 20) and it left me looking pasty. I found it hard to spread and I could see the white build up on my eyebrows and hairline. I felt like I was putting paste on my face. It did have a dry touch feel though.
FYI: French Pharmacy is having 15% off today, on Mother's Day.
Great video! thank you for the explanation. I have very oily skin. I need a good matte finish sunscreen. Which one would you recommend that is really mattifying. Thank you !
I've tried the bioderma nude touch, it has color, doesn't irritate the eyes, the texture at first is tricky, like it is oily, but it leaves a satinated appearance. Though it may not be irritating, i have dry eye, and I felt at some point it made my eyes drier?, probably for the formula being water resistant?, but well controlled well the "oily" look.
I have tried several sun screens for oily skin and find the best one is the Eucerin Oil Control (no fragrance btw). I wouldn't call it matte, but it doesn't add much extra shine and looks quite natural on me. With the La Roche Posay Gel Creme I had a lot of pilling (with or without products underneath). Also, it gave me a kind of silverish cast, which is weird, because my skin is very white.
Gives mine a yellowish one upon 2-3 hours of wear, which is when I reapply, anyway. The pilling happens if you don't give the products underneath time to set. If I do/if I skip moisturizer altogether, it doesn't pill for me
Yes, I love the big version of it too for the summer, it's not matt but my face just has a natural finish and I don't feel it on the skin at all even after 5 reapplications on a hot summer day. The new eucerin sun allergy spf 50 150ml is also super great (even a bit better I'd say, a nice light fluid texture that comes closer to a matt finish).
Yeah the Eucerin Oil Control creme is one of the few European sunscreens I can use that don't irritate my skin or are a pain to apply or leave a greasy film on my skin.
@@morgianasartre6709 Thanks. I looked it up, it doesn't have fragrance either. I will try it.
@@capitalbad1528 The dry touch does have fragrance and it's quite prominent but the sun allergy one doesn't.
I was hopping for you to review those sunscreens. i have a very oily askin and i wanted to try them but now I won't buy them as they are expensive and if they are not mattifying they are not for me. I really like that you always reffer to the UVA preotection when you review a sunscreen. Thank you Ramon! ❤. By the way, do you speak spanish???
Claro ♡
@ genial! 😃
Have you found your mattifying sunscreen?
Thanks for this review. How much do you think the extra UVA protection is needed, let's say when compared to the BoJ sunscreen? I keep hearing people say BoJ is not sufficient enough to protect from photo ageing. What do you think?
I think korean sunscreens are good for everyday use, days where I would stay mostly indoors. But if I have to be outdoors for a long period of time, playing sports or going to the beach, then I prefer using European sunscreens.
They changed the packaging on the old version and took down the PA++++ they had on it. Any idea why? Couldn't find anything about it online. Maybe you'll have better luck ❤
Have you use SPF Zero Shine? Its actually mattifying...
This cream is my go-to when I know I’ll be outside quite a bit. Oh and it is definitely also made with a fragrance option apparently. I ordered it once and it was completely fragrance free. Then ordered again the fragrance made me a little nauseous. Great heavy-hitter, though.
I livei n italy. For me the dry touch would cause pilling and it was hard to melt into my oily skin and i would feel so sweaty and hot flushed after applying it. It would sting! My skin didnt love it at all. Tried eucrin anti dark spot sunscreen and it made me breakout.
Now i am using uvmane 400 hydrating cream and i am breaking out again with clogged pores. And it stings too.
Will i ever find my ideal sunscreen
How do these compare to the Eucerin oil control spf 50? That one is by far my favorite bc it has such a lightweight texture, doesn't pill whatsoever and is the only one that keeps me somewhat matte (my skin is really really freaking oily) Edit: you mentioned it at the end of the video, thanks for saving me some cash lol
Loved the new filter since it has high UVA protection. But, I find that the sunscreen turns yellow a few minutes after application. It gets worse upon reapplication. Has anyone had this issue?
I used to love the LRP, used it for years until I decided to try others to find something more lightweight. I liked the mattifying effect.
But the new versions are not dry-touch at all. They may be oil-controlling or non-comedogenic, but definitely not dry-touch or matte.
E what do you use ?
@@helenalovelock1030 I've tried many and the only one I like is the Eucerin Oil Control. I also like Heliocare Oil Free Gel, Tocobo Bio Watery Sun and Isdin Water Fusion but can't use them because they sting my eyes. But all of them are nice options to try, maybe they work well for you.
@@albapinillaperez5051isdin I don’t like because of the old filters they use and can cause forming of free radicals + hormone disrupting. Heliocare is better for that purpose and eucerin

The only one I can get to be remotely matte is the Anthelios XL. I only use small amounts too. My skin is just weird though, My skin just looks like it's greasy, even when it's dry to touch. I've been on accutane too which reduced my oils but made no difference to how my skin looks.
I don’t understand why it isn’t available in fragrance free in general for the fluid in oil control, and in fragrance free and tinted for fair cool toned skin. I’m allergic to fragrance. No one wants fragrance in facial sunscreen. Or in body either for me. Some people like it for body but definitely not for face it caused terrible eye sting for most too.
After years of using these. I have to come to the conclusion that I don't like fluids. They're too finicky based on the quantity used, one day you'll be fine, the next you'll suffocate and feel greasy. The Eucerin Oil Control is close to perfect imo
Ramon if you have contact with these companies, please tell them we need a truly matte sunscreen? Have you tried the tinted one?
I have tried the tinted one. I like it for days when I don’t want to use foundation. It is quite a pink tone and it is not Matte it’s quite glowy on my skin
5:28 unlike in Korea where "50+" means above SPF50, in Europe and Australia "50+" means at least SPF60.
I am using the oil control gel version, just bc it is fragrance free a I have rosacea. I like that it doesn't sting my eyes, but it is hard to spread due to its thick consistency and it does not have a dry finish, more on the glowy side, but it is not an issue for me. I do wish the fluid version would be fragrance free....I would go for that one right away. I am from the Czech republic, Prague...so whatever is available here might not be the same for the States (when it comes to ingredient list).
Its so matte and velvety on me, and im oily and no shine throu the day, I prefer the original thou
why do i feel short stingy on my face after applied this gel cream uvmune400 sunscreen ? i dont feel any sting when i use the old formula. Should i stop or just continue? please help

The scent of the liquid version really gave me a headache.. and the finish isn't that much better than the original version. I'm only using it on my hands now. I have yet to find a sunscreen with as transparent a finish as the Anessa Sensitive Milk.
I prefer the fluid to the cream 😆
LRP told me that the regular immune fluid is 42.5 ppd which is lower than others are saying they told them. They wouldn’t give me any other numbers
I've tried the original uvmune fluid and former invisible fluid. They're shiny but I don't care about that. What bothers me a bit is the stickiness, my hair sticks to my face 😂. Easily solved with some powder, but being the lazy couch potato i am, I'd prefer to skip the powder. Can anyone who has tried these two new products confirm if they are sticky?
to me the original uvmune fluid isn't sticky, but definitely greasy
I think a lot of these "oil-control" sunscreen is good for oily skin but not good for oily and sweaty skin, I have really bad experience with oil control sunscreen from L'oreal, Nivea and La Roche Posay, when I sweat the sunscreen become white and run off my face, not a good feeling at all.
Try the Kaine Green Fit Pro Sunscreen. For my oily skin in hot Asian summer, it has good oil-control power and is sweat-resistant. It wears beautifully under makeup too. And of course with most Korean sunscreens, the texture is wonderful to use.
Is the Kaine one glowy at all? Or more matte?
@@amelie4363 after 15mins, I find it to have a natural satin finish, neither matte nor glowy.

The gel cream is great but I do find it really water resistant I have to double cleanse at night to feel it out of my face lol
Living in hot, humid tropical Southeast Asia weather - the ‘mattifying gel-cream’ feel sticky, chalky, difficult to blend in. Feels & smells like rubbing in white wooden glue onto skin. Makes oily skin sweating. Too tacky for a man who need simple skincare.
Eucerin Oil Control still the best so far 👍🏼

My skin is oily.
Which one is best for me ?
I said in the video ♡♡♡ watch
May not be an issue if you’re not fair skinned but the colour of the original formula is super yellow (haven’t tried oil control), it makes me look jaundice and has ruined a few t-shirts. Same thing with Avenue’s triasorb, seems to be common with French pharmacy sunscreens but these are the worst. Uvmune isn’t horrible and gets 5stars in the sports/outdoor sunscreen category, but too unpleasant for daily wear. The hike in price from £14 to £21 in one year makes it a nope!
I have fair skin as well and noticed the same thing. It is so yellow to the point that I look sick wearing it.
Which one is best for oily skin please tell me please please 🥺
I said ♡
Neither are matte but both are so much less oily than the original formula. With the original if I reapplied as directed my face was so disgustingly greasy even copious amounts of oil absorbing powder couldn’t fix it and I had to wear my hair up to avoid the grease. With the oil control formulas I can reapply 3-4 times after my first application, lightly dust on powder and forget about it.
Why is mine always yellow greenish🤔
That’s the color
