  • Passover starts tonight! Also, so does Shabbat! So there is plenty to get done around here as we prepare for our seder and shabbat and passover in general. There is the burning of the hametz, preparation of the seder, setting the table, giving Passover / Pesach gifts to our kids, getting dressed up for the seder, and so much more! Thank you for coming along for this day in my life (DITL) as I get ready for Passover / Pesach and Shabbat!

Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching!

Our seders are in Yiddish mostly, except for the brachas. We ask the 4 questions in Hebrew, Yiddish, and a different 3rd language every year. Last year was Mohawk.

I’m not Jewish, but for whatever reason, was fascinated about the plagues and memorized them. It was amazing how you present them for your Seder meal. I’m constantly impressed with your traditions and how exciting you present everything to your children. I’m new to the channel but have binge watched episodes of your conversion and some of the high holidays. I babysat for a Jewish family at 17 years old. I don’t believe they were orthodox from what I’ve learned from you. I’m 70 now, it’s never too late to learn. 🙂

Thank you for sharing your Passover prep. I’m watching this again this year, knowing that your Passover is coming up soon. As a mom and a teacher, I so much appreciate how you make the important holiday accessible for your children with them preparing their own books to follow the Seder and with the plague bags to bring understanding to those. It just happens that I’m reading the Catholic book of Wisdom in our Old Testament during my morning meditation time and part of it deals with five of the ten plagues.

Hi Chana! I have so much ❤️ for this video! Thank you for sharing all the things you do in preparation for Passover. You and your husband are doing a beautiful job of teaching your children about G-d. Not sure if you know, but the Seder is what we, as Christians, call a “type and shadow” of our Salvation. I didn’t know this until a couple years ago when I watched a Seder on PragerU and he explained it beautifully. Yes, our beliefs are different, yet so much alike! I’m pretty sure this is my favorite of all your videos. See you Thursday!

On the other hand, I had two new Jar of Fireflies videos (and longer ones too 🎉) in one day, so I have nothing to complain about 😎 you both looked lovely! I have to say, Passover sounds like a great, but logistically complicated holiday. I read recently that you have to check the rice because long long long ago they used to do crop rotation between wheat and rice so there was a chance that some wheat might have been left in the field when rice was planted and then got harvested with the rice. I found that really interesting

He converted about 6 years ago and I had no idea until I was watching you one day and he said "mom, why are you watching Jewish videos" ? I answered with because I like to learn about different religions and cultures and stuff, why is it bothering you? The response was " no just found it interesting that you are watching it and I'm Jewish". Oh boy now I'm panicking because my house is far from kosher and he lives with me. He said that it's ok that he has permission because of legal issues to live in a nonkosher home for now. Wow was I freaking out, still kind of am because I don't want to be a reason that he isn't following what he believes.
