Both Kenny and Bob unusually here show the same tonal timbre on their clarinets, perhaps because here they are both using the same crystal Ria mouthoiece, but also Bob is using similar tonal variations to those of Kenny so that at the start difficult to distinguish who is playing what ? Later in Kenny’s career he switched to a wide Vandoren. 5JB and favoured much wider daring blues inflected tonal bends and g,issandos and impro veering away from the more standard chord arpeggio style of Coleman Hawkins.
Edward, good observation of two master clarinetist whom I knew well. Kenny is most likely playing his Vandoren A3, or Ponte crystal mouthpiece here w/a Bonade ligature on his Pan American hard rubber clarinet; and Bob is definitely playing his Vandoren A3 crystal mouthpiece on his nearly full Bohem Selmer. I own both of their actual setups...
