You might can always spin the push rods if they have oil on them or if someone has stronger grip.lift push rod up and down until it doesn't.0 lash, then 1/2 turn on most sbc. Try not to use spin method, some will stop spinning some will not. With valve closed of course.

In reguard to the first adjustment you demonstrated, the exhaust valve closes on the overlap phase. You must take your adjustment after the intake closes.

The video you watch is the correct way, there is a stop on the stud bolt. You just continue tightening them in the same sequence you used but to 24 foot pounds or torque. The hydraulic lifter will adjust it self. I'm guessing you learned the hard way when you started the engine.

Do you need to take the intake manifold off to do this?

So , i just torqued all of mine down to 20ft lbs without turning the motor over .. 2 of the pushrods somewhat spin ... should i losen them all back and tighten them as i spin the motor over ? 4.3 V6 all stock aside from roller rocker arms

You do not wanna torque them down the 4.3 leader is 0 lash it has hydraulic lifters

As you can hear in the video I say do not torque them down it's a 0 lash setting watch the whole video and you'll see how to adjust them if you torque them down to 20' pounds of torque and then turn the engine you can flatten your Cam

You are missing a key fact which is there is two types of rockers for the 4.3. Some rockers, often the newer, have a stop nut on the rocker arm. Those you torque down to 24lbs/ft. On rockers like you have here, you have to go through and adjust each valve once it’s closed.

The ones your talking about are those and 8mill bolt holding the rocker arms for the new ones it would make sense it’s in a 02 1500

Is it Just tighten nuts to 24ft lbs.. Thats it ?? no adjustment ?? (8mm nuts).. Im trying to figure mine out and keep backing off. I do the tapping adjust, not tap, 1/2 turn.. think I got it wrong for this 4.3
