UK cannot do this as the English Channel is just English or French and the French won't allow tow backs - probably not helped by Brexit. So Matt what do you think would work? and Rwanda was not the same as Australia's policy. If any boats do get through (there are very few) people are sent to Nauru - not for resettlement but for processing. If claims are turned down they wait there until they can be placed by the UN in a country other than Australia. But Australia can do this as it takes 20,000 refugees as part of its annual migration program.
