- "Tammy" is a popular song with music by Jay Livingston and lyrics by Ray Evans. It was published in 1957 and made its debut in the film Tammy and the Bachelor. It was nominated for the 1957 Oscar for Best Original Song. "Tammy" is heard in the film in two versions. The one that became a number one hit single for Debbie Reynolds in 1957 is heard midway through the film, and was a UK No. 2 hit single in the same year.
I am now 62 years old and when I recall this song, it stays with me for days on end and can still remember most of the lyrics. Those times will never come back but I am glad I was a good part of them.
Same!❤❤❤
Ich auch liebe Grüße aus Germany Schleswig-Holstein Wedel ❤❤
I had a customer Come into my work today who wanted to play it on our piano.
Now I can’t stop humming it. I could not remember most of the lines. Only the last one.
But I remember loving that song and the movie.
But, Leslie Nielsen..????
im64 we both missed same 😢
Is this the sweetest song ever sung? Yes - yes, it is.
This song is one of Debbie Reynolds’s legacies .
May she Rest In Peace .
Just celebrated my mums 90 th birthday. She is in a care home following a stroke. She used to sing this to me when I was about 3years old. We played it to her and she responded to it. I think that it is my favourite song.
1 of my most favorite songs, I became attached to classic films while I's in USA. Single and alone after my beloved son was gone. My x had long gone with his close friend's wife.😔
Beautiful story, relating to a beautiful song.
One of the greatest love songs ever sung by a woman.
It took me forever to find this. My Mom used to sing this to me and my brother to get us to sleep. She passed away 9 years ago. I’m very happy to have found this on RUclips
I was named after the "Tammy" movies. My mom and older sisters used to sing it to me when I was little. I never knew all the lyrics until just recently. Even as I grew older I can remember my mom singing it around the house. Such a gentle, sweet, innocent song about love😊 I am so proud to have been named 'Tammy'.
That's so sweet!
I'm 71,, Male ,, I remember this song, when I was young,,, today 01/28/2023,, I still love it,, plus, its a song I can sing,
This is what love and happiness sound like
I saw this film in 1957, when I was four year's old: we went to the drive- in in Eugene Oregon and it was pouring rain the whole time.
I was named after this song. I’ve always loved it. Loved all the Tammy movies too
Nobody can sing it better then Debbie Reynolds
So beautiful
Back in time when the world was simpler...I'm 71 now and had a lifetime of musical memories..
This is the first song that I loved as a young girl, I still do.
Me too. I wanted to love someone that much and I did
Those were the days of romantic lyrics paired with lovely melodies. We still have songs like that, but fewer and further between.
My daughter was named after this song my childhood favourite I am now 71 years old sti a favourite of yesterday
Am now 73, not that well and wish my mom was here to sing this to me.
In the old days everything seemed very romantic and beautiful, especially for the young ones.
This is just the sweetest song I've ever heard and a beautiful voice to go with it and a beautiful girl wow she was gorgeous thank you for sharing 👏👏👏❤️
Without any doubt.. This is the most marvelous song ever written and well instrumented
What a fantastic Song that just grabs Me Everytime I hear it. Upon its Release in 1957 I was born the following year & so I assume My mother often Played it or heard it on the Radio 📻🔘 back. As it was then? The first time I saw the Movie with Miss Debbie Reynolds, singing it's Hauntinly, and Bueatiful Lyrics. I couldn't Help but Fall in Love with the Song, & infatuation with Miss Reynold's as Well. IT'S still that way Today 65 years Later, & I Still whip Tears 😢😢of Joy from My Eye's 👁️👁️👀👀when ever I Play it or Hear it. Thank Again for Sharing it. ✌️✌️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏👏
And May Miss Debbie Reynolds RIP Forever by Our Lord's Side. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Lyrics are unforgettable
Debbie Reynolds - so beautiful and talented.
Tammy tugs at my heart everytime I hear the song. So beautiful, so soothing and so mesmerising...love it ❤️
This song always reminds me of sitting in the back seat of my parents car on a warm summer night at the drive-in. Wonderful memories never to be repeated.
I love how this makes you feel like you’re from a different era when you give it a listen❤
Takes me right back.
I remember it. A very pretty song!
Lovely vocal by the iconic Debbie Reynolds and gorgeous arrangement.
I was named after this song 😊
Once when I was a kid I was walking by a record player that someone had placed that song. I stopped to tie my shoelaces till it was finished. Memories.
Yeah, ha ha ha. Perhaps a miser never understands a baseball batter's preparation action who standing batter box, for example, hit the ground 2 or 3 times by bat.
The miser does spare not only money but also action, speech, feelings because of preventing to waste of energy. So he doesn't interest in other people's joy or sadness. More and more, someday he would not interest in himself's joy or sadness. ㅡ Erich Fromm's The Art of Being
Playing this to my tammy she is near the end , tammy was her stage name back in the 70 in plymouth, diamond lils to be prosise
I remember all of the “Tammy” movies with Debbie Reynolds. Both of my parents were musicians. My dad played the Clarinet and Saxophone. When he practiced the Clarinet, this was one of his favorites. I was a child but I could sing, so my dad practiced by having me accompany him with singing the songs. I learned many songs from times before me, just from this. “ Tammy” was popular when I was very young. The many songs I sang with my dad, still pop into my mind and heart on occasion. I am grateful to know them at all, as I would not otherwise. 😊♥️ Thanks for the memories dad!
America will never again produce a brilliance like...My Deb.
My mom sang this song to rock me to sleep as a baby, every time I hear it it completely eases my soul. ❤❤
Still the most beautiful song ever, my mom and I watched this movie, she told me she first saw this at the drive inn. Great picture great memories ♥️♥️♥️
Inescapable beauty. A miracle of Hollywood.
A time of innocence, do we need that time now? For some reason this song that is so sweet and doesn't fit in with this crazy world now, is actually a beaut.
What a marvelous gift to find this treasure! Ana in Mexico City!❤
Aww I've sang this to all my four babies ❤❤❤❤ and now to my Grandbabies ❤️ it always settles them xxx
Wunderschön.
I so remember this one! I was 7!!
My sister was named after this song. I miss you Tammy! RIP😔
Used to sing that song to my first & few girlfriends on the playground in 5th grade !
An Aunt is the same age as her and got to meet her after a concert in Las Vega$.
...back when songs had way more 'romance' and way less sex... just a gorgeous song...
Very true, David! Thanks for listening.
I saw this film not very long after reaching puberty and one particular scene was far more sexy than anything I had seen up to then. It certainly made a big impression on an inexperienced lad.
So soothing from the classic ballad era. Was also used in the late 1970's Hollywood film Going Steady.
One of my favorite song,,, i always listening to this on youtube..nice song....
Why are the Tammy movies never on TV ?
Beautiful song and a great singer...oh to be back in simpler times.....
This reminds me of our sister when we were kids😊💕
Don't play Misty for me. Play Tammy for me.
So beautiful
Interesting that I rember all the lyrics from your music and it’s been 60 years since I first heard it. ❤️👍🙏
Are you on a special mission to invoke memories/heart-ache/joy/passion and happiness and love? GOOD FOR YOU AND THANKYOU!❤️🙏
Me also. Unforgettable.
@@irenecassaro7397 Evidently, our brains are still working better than expected 😂. Don’t feel like I am 73, and wonder if it is the music that has kept us “young at heart “. Good for you! Blessings and happiness are wished for you 🙏🌈🙏
@@lindahurst7114 you also.
@@irenecassaro7397 just found your message. Thankyou! 👍🙏

rest in peace (tammy) aka debbie.
I've loved this song since I was around 6 or 7 years old, I'm now almost 64.
I'm also in the process of trying to record it myself, from a man's prospective of course.
Did you ever do it 🥰
@@bethanyslate6858 Hi Bethany, I never did no, just after I said that above, my wife was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer, so our world took a bit of a hit, shes fully out of the woods now thanks to Nottingham hospital, but it was a bit scary.
I haven't really sang a note since, and I took up photography as a distraction, and now that takes up most of my time.
But thank you for asking, and because you've asked, I promise I will get back to it sometime this year.
Those were the days when meaningful heartfelt songs were written.
Beautifully done.
Tammy was the name of my cousin and I was younger than her by 18 months but I would sing this to her
When I grew up in 1960s it seemed we had a “Tammy” or/and “Debbie “ in every class
You did a very nice job putting this video together. The font of the lyrics are pretty, and the timing of their appearance is perfect so we can sing along without being behind. Thank you!
This was my mom's favorite!❤
This was my first piano lesson 1962
Gonna kearn this one!
Quiero que me despierten con esta canción...!!
Named after this icon!
So beautiful! 😍
I sing this at karaoke on my birthday because it was a hit from my birth year.
❤
I always loved watching Tammy with my Dad!
Mum sang this when we all gathered about the piano, some barely old enough to chin up above the keyboard.
Never saw thr movie, but never forgot the song. 1957?
Reminds me of my dad..
Love conquers all

She was such a beautiful lady. Deserved much better than that SOB she married.
Which one ?

@@thomaszaccone3960 that's who I thought you were referring to ,but if I remember right she married a shoe magnot last name Karl ? who died and left her with a ton of debt and to her credit she took care of the debts . A remarkable lady . Didn't know her but I always loved her and her movies
@@johntaormina1084 Never heard of the Shoe Magnate. She sounds like Edie Adam's. Same thing happened with Ernie Kovacks - but aside from that I liked Kovacks
I think his name was Harry Marx , I'm thinking back maybe 55 years ago
They wanted to call it Tammy Motown after this record but found that Tammy records already existed so they went for Tamla (motown).
Oh please Dear? For your information, the Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint.
