Very cool - Love that cover art!
These comic books are from a short run of only seven issues. Prior to this Charlton also produced a Space 1999 magazine, with articles and B&W strips, and which only ran for eight issues.
I've not come across either of these myself in the UK, but they do pop up on Ebay fairly regularly.
Yeah I've never seen these in the wild in the UK. The prices on Ebay vary wildly but I will try and get a set 😀
Soooo cool 😎. Love this show
One of my favourites
I definitely want to get star trek doctor who and space 1999 vintage comics. eBay is being difficult. I keep trying to put more details in so I can buy stuff. I'll get there eventually lol 😆
Lovely find 👍and in untouched condition . Space: 1999 wonderful, don't remember seeing these comics as a kid because would have absolutely been collecting them. I have picked up the collected comic volumes to fill the comic book void for this great series.
The only Space 1999 merch I remember seeing as a kid were the Mego figures, the Letraset transfers, the odd Lookin mag and the Dinky Eagle 😀
@@imarmodels I still have the dinky eagle 👍 Clocked up hundreds of play hours in the 70's together with the UFO interceptor.
Wish I still had mine, I had the weird metallic green Eagle.
@@imarmodels my eagle is green and so is the Interceptor, no idea what the thinking behind the colour choice was. 🤔😃
Thanks for this - some of the Charlton comic strips were reprinted in the 1978 UK Space 1999 annual, including a story where Koenig gets blasted into space without the helmet to his space suit when his Eagle blows up, it's a cracking story. Off topic, but just to let you know some of your Blakes 7 In Character podcasts won't play as the play button is missing from the page, for example off the Fight Club episode, which I fancied listening to again. Cheers, Mark.
I believe that there was also an Italian Space: 1999 comic book, with some properly startling artwork on the covers. It would make sense, as the show was a UK/Italy co-production, between ITC and RAI. They might be Charlton reprints with new covers, but I dimly remember seeing some at a comic fair, back in the late 1980's.
5:15 very much like the Star Trek strips of Joe90 and early Tv21, they seemed to have very little reference material. I mean Captain Kurt commanded the Enterprise in those early strips for Trek
There were 15 Space 1999 Charlton issues iirc, between 75-76. Some were reprinted in the final uk annual and some are in the excellent Anderson collection "To everything that was"
Cheers

Thanks Micky, I have the collected UK Trek strips and they are amazingly inaccurate lol Captain Kurt... they should bring him back in SNW
Besides if they stay sealed you can’t read them. Comics are made to be read.
Agree entirely 👍
RUclips unsubscribed me again 😢
RUclips seems to be doing mad things recently 😞
@@imarmodels Yep 💯. I was on another channel's live stream discussion. And it just kept saying this service is currently unavailable 😞. Lol wtf 😒 RUclips. They also constantly delete my comments for noooo freaking reason. Yet they don't delete all the bits or trolls. Real nice RUclips.
