@3:10 the Guard just steps off the moving train. No Health and Safety. No Political Correctness. Oh how we took it for granted.

Good presentation of the world's largest third rail dc electrified rail network and probably the only one moving freight by 3rd rail electric locos: The 73s and 92s :-)

I wonder how many millions of miles those units must have racked up in their life time? Must have been a fair few. I miss the old 421's, 423's etc, really comfortable trains to ride on.

I wouldn't describe the 423s as comfortable. Doors next to every seat, they were horrible during the winter when every stop someone would open the door and let all the cold air in.

Tyneside EPB, a facelift CEP and some BEP/REP's... The BEP/REP with the CEP were the most powerful of old BR-SR emu's, inheriting the express motors out of the GRI's. The best formation on SR was 3x4CEP's with a MLV on the front or back as the MLV was basically a CEP power car with an EPB MK1 pair of cab ends on 'em so 16 car power pulling 13 cars made them a delight for the drivers.

    Class 421 (0:42) 423 (2:13) 414? (2:55) 411 (3:24). There we are. I knew that would come in handy eventually.
