It would be great wouldn’t it; I’d love to go back in time to the steam/ diesel crossover period, but with my go-pro, digital SLR and camcorder- won’t someone invent a Time Machine please 😄😄😄
You caught something rare at Kensington Olympia, 47599 in railfreight metals livery, on a freight train! Most videos I've seen, she's on either passenger or parcels! It also appears on my layout.
I can’t remember being surprised at the time, but I’ll take your word for it that it was a rare sight on freight. Tbh I didn’t pay much attention to the Class 47s and their multiple livery and number changes back in the day, and didn’t keep a log of how many times I’d photographed or videoed a particular loco. Class 50s - yes, other Classes -no.Thanks for commenting 👍😊
73201 must have been one of the first with those ridiculous tiny numbers. Also caught 2x73 pushing an 8TC on a Poole or Weymouth train at Clapham Junct, just as the Cromptons were approaching
As those sidings are electrified, that was a rather not terribly sensible idea jumping down from a moving train there at8:35. He could easily have found a live rail underfoot
Well, I didn’t see it that often, but I’m sure one of the other viewers will be able to enlighten us as to how common it was. Thanks for commenting and raising a question- sorry I couldn’t answer it 😊☹️ . cheers Geoff.
Man, so many great memories. Just think of all the great footage we'd have now if there were Go-Pros, Camera phones and Digital Photography
