I'm a bit confused as to why the bending is impressive re: staying in tune. The trem is decked. Every guitar will stay in tune just as much if they have locking tuners. The real test of any tremolo is whether or not it returns to pitch when it's floating. If you deck it you effectively turn it into a hardtail, and any guitar I've ever set up will maintain pitch just fine once you tune the tremolo (for those that don't know, on a strat-style guitar, you decide if you want to return to pitch after dropping or pulling the pitch, then tune it by repeatedly diving and tuning or, alternatively, pulling up and tuning). To float to Fender specs and stay in pitch while pulling and diving WITHOUT having to compensate by pulling after you dive or diving after you pull -- that is the test and the standard by which to measure any guitar.

It looks like the upscale version 2.0 of my lake placid strat. I love my strat - LOVE it! - and I'd trade it for this cutlass before you could blink! I like the smaller body mass/size - alongside a heap of other features. But strat bodies are just too big. They look comically huge on skinny guys and chicks. Im a big man, and i still like the smaller cutlass. Same with the Albert Lee.... even the Valentine - bigger, but still not too big/heavy aka Fender
Wow... I'm kinda suprised how much I love that guitar. Looks great. Sounds great. I want one. lol Dam... They cost too much for my blood. It'll never happen. Sad face. : (
They will never kill the Strat. No doubt it's a great guitar but I find that when other companies other than Fender make S type high end guitars, they end up sounding more like a Strat than a Strat does. Meaning they tend to over accentuate the traditional tones that are readily available in a Fender Stratocaster. IMO
If you wanted these specs from fender you'd have to go master built custom shop and pay double the price of a cutlass plus fender doesn't offer SS frets but it's 2019 now so here's hoping
Got to ask Cutlass or Silver Sky if you were buying one today? I’m in the market for one, and I don’t know how you feel about used gear, but while shopping I noticed this trend, a used Silver Sky is north of $1500 in the States but a used Cutlass is $1000 or less if you’re patient.
Getting second hand guitars is a great thing to do. My Aqua blue Strat was 2nd hand. I like the silver sky, great guitar. If I was to choose between that and the cutlass, I would choose the cutlass! I hadn’t played it for a few months due to lock down and it wasn’t at mine. Got it back a couple of weeks ago, and I forgot what a fantastic guitar it is. It rings beautifully. Can’t say enough good things about it.
In fact no, the Cutlass has an active buffer circuit that makes a treble bleed unnecessary. 100% consistent tone no matter what cable length you use or volume setting you use. It's very cool.
I played one of those and I wouldn't give you $200 for one they play cheap their tone is very minimal playabilities pretty decent but playability don't cover the tone it don't have the strat tone so stop comparing it to a fender and definitely don't try to compare it to a g&l
Enough with the "I-think-I-broke-something orgasm-face"!! I want all the musicman guitars! If i were a successful rock star, id play musicman almost exclusively (need at least one Gibson...). Mike Bradley don’t worry man, I might be the only person on earth to notice things like that and believe it’s important enough to mention it. As said, my OCD drives me crazy sometimes. I can’t help myself... lol
It's a very thin poly finish on the body so it's still very resonent and able to breath
ooh thats good to hear. makes sense as it rings likes a bell.
This guy is feeelin it
A far superior guitar to a Fender. I've had many Fenders but the Cutlass is and those who don't agree i would say you haven't played one then.
Indeed, can’t wait to play it and get it once lockdown is over.
@@MikeBradleyofficial Have you ever played a Marlin Sidewinder Mike? They don't make them anymore and their UK made.Made in Wales to be precise.Neck and middle single coil pups with a hot rail on the bridge. They sound fantastic. Now i don't know if that is because the instrument has aged and the wood has dried out even more over time, mine is an 83. It's with the title of your video, iv'e had and have a few strats and strat style guitars but there is something that keeps making me pick it up. Don't get me wrong i meant it about the Cutlas, they are strat killers but their not on their own. A Marlin now would only cost about 300 quid maximum. Just thought i would share that with you, best wishes mate.
What is it that makes music man guitars sound great in technical and electrical terms?
Good question, and my answer would be to go to your local shop and try one and see if you feel the same when you play one.
@@MikeBradleyofficial :( I live in Trinidad and Tobago,,,,,, music shops down here aren’t like in the first world......... wish I could, thanks though.. hopefully I can get an answer by a guitar guru.❤️💚💛.
Cutlass needs more color options, and option for a Sunburst without tortoise shell
Just change the pickgaurd you can order them from the music man website
It looks like the upscale version 2.0 of my lake placid strat. I love my strat - LOVE it! - and I'd trade it for this cutlass before you could blink! I like the smaller body mass/size - alongside a heap of other features. But strat bodies are just too big. They look comically huge on skinny guys and chicks. Im a big man, and i still like the smaller cutlass. Same with the Albert Lee.... even the Valentine - bigger, but still not too big/heavy aka Fender
Luey Tele Deluxe have you looked at the fender bullet?
mike hi
zachary shaneour Hi Zach!
Better than Silver Sky? :O
stephane gagnon Both equally great guitars!
13:16 That "one bad blemish" is easily remedied, however, so... not a blemish at all, really.
Dual fulcrum bridge.
Sounds just like a Fender Strat to me. But cost more. What ever makes you happy. That's all that matters
I hope it's the same scale length as a Strat? I hate those short necks!
Stratman-UK Yes it’s the same buddy
Definitely selling my kidney for this...
John therealOVERBECK just buy it at sweet water it’s on $42 a month/48 months 😬😬😬 I just ordered it!!!
Bruno mars has a music man guitar too
So, exactly 3 years later ..... did you get one?
I sure did, have a look through my other videos. 😊
@@MikeBradleyofficial Duh, why didn't I think of that!? lol :p
I’ll let you off.
@@MikeBradleyofficial lol
Wow... I'm kinda suprised how much I love that guitar.
Looks great. Sounds great. I want one. lol
Dam... They cost too much for my blood. It'll never happen. Sad face. : (
i take it you mean a treble bleed added on the volume
johnnyspuggy That’s the one!!
Mike, you really remind me of the singer from Magic... you need to do a parody.....I thought that one was the new PRS :-)
How's you're Brother coming along with his playing ???
colintraveller I think it’s been a while since he’s played, I keep nagging at him!
@@MikeBradleyofficial shame he gave up
I know! Maybe he will get back on it again.
Nice guitar but prefer the Strat
He was just checking the walls!
They will never kill the Strat. No doubt it's a great guitar but I find that when other companies other than Fender make S type high end guitars, they end up sounding more like a Strat than a Strat does. Meaning they tend to over accentuate the traditional tones that are readily available in a Fender Stratocaster. IMO
If you wanted these specs from fender you'd have to go master built custom shop and pay double the price of a cutlass plus fender doesn't offer SS frets but it's 2019 now so here's hoping
battery last 500 hours. treble bleed is the circuit you couldnt remember on the volume
Does the guitar play without the 9v battery?
Went with the Stingray over the Cutlass. Let's just say I play it more than my R8.
Happy new guitar day! They’re quite addictive guitars aren’t they!
Surprised you're old enough to remember Fawlty Towers
Hahaha I wasn’t born when it came out, but have seen all the episodes many many times.
Mike Bradley I was about to say, if you were watching it when it was on, you look very well for your age
Treble bleed circuit.
In fact no, the Cutlass has an active buffer circuit that makes a treble bleed unnecessary. 100% consistent tone no matter what cable length you use or volume setting you use. It's very cool.
Can you give me? Its beautiful.
hmmm I'll get back to you! haha
Love to have it.😅
I played one of those and I wouldn't give you $200 for one they play cheap their tone is very minimal playabilities pretty decent but playability don't cover the tone it don't have the strat tone so stop comparing it to a fender and definitely don't try to compare it to a g&l
Enough with the "I-think-I-broke-something orgasm-face"!!
I want all the musicman guitars! If i were a successful rock star, id play musicman almost exclusively (need at least one Gibson...). But I could actually live wholly without the big F! ( Except for just one jazzy. Ooooh, and a tele, of course!...)
How much abuse can that Vibrato take ???
Hardly a strat killer with that price. But awesome axe
