I'm a firm believer in discipline because without it kids grow up into disrespecting adults. Kids today are coddled, babied, and catered to never being taught that there are consequences for their behavior. Parents need to grow up and take the bull by the horns. Heck I was spanked only when I misbehaved.

Our parents spanked us (my Mama would use a big ole hand brush, shoe, whatever was handy lol, hated switches but they are the #1 tantrum fixer on earth). We spanked our kids as well, ALL of us turned out to be kind, respectful, hard working contributors to society. We have Thanked our parents for spanking us & and our kids have thanked us for spanking them. ALL of us are frustrated & blown away at the meaness, hatefulness, general badness/rottenness kids these days display for the world to see. They have zero shame. Its scary that parents these days allow their kids to run buck wild with no consequences for bad actions. I Pray parents will wake up and stop sparing the rod and churning out spoild children.
Many people don't know the difference between beating your kid while you are still angry about what they did as misbehavior/disrespect and spanking to discipline/teach that what they did is wrong. You can't be angry when you do it. I'm 72F now and I remember one particular event very well. I had been disrespectful to my mom AFTER having disobeyed her. I'm sure she was angry, but she did not strike out at me immediately. She calmly told me that I would get a spanking but that I had to choose my own switch.
I was about 12...stupid me, I thought the smaller the switch the less it would hurt. So, I went outside and clipped a skinny branch from a tamarisk bush. I got 8-10 licks with that little branch from Hell on the back of my bare legs and I can't remember EVER doing anything again that would bring on that kind of discipline a second time. 60 years later and I still remember it. And I miss my mom every day; she died in 2009.
Spanking works if a parent uses it to teach a child right from wrong. It does NOT work if the parent is angry and uses it to release their own frustrations.
Same exact story here!! Lol I had to choose my own switches and I decided to be a smart behind and get a small, skinny one....that was a VERY BAD IDEA!! Lol Mama will be 91 in December (Daddy died when I was 9) so Blessed to still have Her & Appreciate Her disciplining me & molding me into a good person.

My kids are grown but twice I spanked them when they needed it, the rest of the time? I made them strong through exercise😂

Yes. But remember, some people will never respect the value of a fair fight or a life for that matter. I'm a black belt in jiujitsu and I carry a gun. I always emphasize the responsibilities of both.

I remove my kids finger: x1 for each offence and none of my kids can count to ten with their fingers. Just kidding guys I don't have kids really. Peace (index and middle but missing the pinky and ring) lol
