@@zachryan5483 The Mario 64 part felt like an analysis because you focused on the technical side of this game while only briefly touching on the reputation of the game. Then the Sunshine and Galaxy parts definitely moved from Analysis to more a Review/personal opinions on the game. Overall, these are just observations, did not mean any ill-intent. I enjoyed the video, however I do think the video is mistitled as an analysis. EDIT: To offer some constructive criticism, I think the section after 3:23 on Sunshine should be cut out. This is clearly where the Analysis ends and it becomes a Review, it doesn't fit with an Analysis Video IMO. Same with the Galaxy section after 5:33, this begins to mix in a aspects of a Review/retrospective that affects the direction of the video.
I just bought this a few days ago and I'm so pumped, I've never played these games. I'm excited for Super mario 64 cuz it is the first mario open world game, and i can't wait for galaxy it looks so fun!!!
Extremely disappointing by the changes made and lack of effort on Mario 64. MARIO 64: - No widescreen - No famous dialog when throwing bowser MARIO SUNSHINE: - No option for original aspect ratio on cutscenes or gameplay (cutscenes are now cropped) - No option to use Gamecube controller with original controls (analogue trigger controls no longer function as originally designed) - No inverted controls option I'm missing a few, but these are what bother me most. Still got this collection on pre-order, mostly because I LOVE Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, but this collection is a lazy effort.

You do realise these are three incredible games for 20 dollers each right? supposed to be running on a inhouse emulator so I've got a feeling its only until march 2021 because is incoming N64 And gamecube backwards compatibility i think these are the test games
I honestly wouldn’t complain about any of this stuff if they just kept backwards long jump! That’s like my favorite thing to do in Mario 64! And it doesn’t hurt gameplay whatsoever. It’s not like you’re going to do it on accident.
There's nothing to complain about as a WHOLE package, everything is presented very well and excellently well done and made! Fantastic games as a whole as all 3 games are phenomenally well done! Not having the "backwards long jump" doesn't remove anything from them at all here in ANY way.
At least galaxy has some sort of flow and correlation, sunshine doesn't really, like going go jail and riding a rollercoaster shooting rockets at mechanical browser doesn't really make sense together, but it is fun just not as much as galaxy.
I’m happy they didn’t change a thing cuz I never played these games and want the original experience and wanna try it out and see why everyone loves it
I LOVE THE IDEA OF PLAYING THESE GAMES AGAIN !!........ but at $ 60 for the effort put in by the company is to give them a special touch as better graphics for that I prefer to play it on a pc emulator
Honestly to the people complaining most of you are more than likely still going to buy it. Why? Because while yeah I agree more effort could have been put into this collection it's still ports of games from previous systems. Im just glad I can play these games on a portable system without running an emulator.
OK now I have a question I really really need an answer for so if you already bought it do you keep it on your switch forever or is it erased from your system
Ronny Brojomohun yeah and if they remastered it people would have found something new to complain about it’s just how the world is people want to complain about everything
IGN is basically adding titles to the sections of this analysis, as though it were a written article. In this case, each of the titles is a music reference that's related to each of the games. Cretin Hop is a Ramones song, and in Mario 64 I guess technically you do hop on cretins.
As someone who has only okayed fakest of these 3 games, I’m loving 64. It’s graphics give me a nostalgic feeling even though I never played it. There is something about the authenticity of the game that makes it(in my opinion) more enjoyable than a perfect up to date remaster.
Everything actually fit the theme of Delfino. Same as in 64, everything fit the theme of the mushroom kingdom. In galaxy and odyssey, you just fast travel from world to world, so you never grow attached to any of them in particular. You're just jumping from level to level aimlessly. They had some cool levels, but I wouldnt call that little sphere of a world in galaxy a "home base". And in Odyssey, all you have is the inside of his balloon thing. You know what I mean? Sunshine had the whole island of delfino plaza as the central world, and mario 64 had all of peaches castle.
Do Nintendo not realise the bonkers CASH they’d rake in with a full blown Mario 64 remake

2:45 1920x100p? That is one W I D E B O I
I'm gonna love those graphics 😂

Why does everyone lose their minds over the limited availability window when Disney’s out here consistently doing this for well over 50 years and has seen it give rise to true blue collectors of their Disney vault movies? Really doesn’t make sense that everyone hates this
Really makes you FEEL like Mario!!
I’ve been avoiding this compilation for months now. I already have all three games on older consoles, so I didn’t see the point in buying it.
But now, March 31st is coming, and it’s coming fast. I get more and more tempted everyday.
Just buy it, in the veeeery long run, you're going to regret more not buying it.
@@christiancardenas2975 Yeah, that's pretty much what I assumed as well. I bought it not long after posting the comment.
Actually, I don't play it much. But just knowing that I CAN play the games on the Switch makes me not regret the purchase.
@@HumblePaysan the game is still in stock at like every store and it has been months past they claimed theyre going to stop selling it im starting to wonder if they lied about it being a limited release just to get more sales.
@@ElmStreet it’s starting to sell out now
Got this and played sunshine for the first time ever and it’s my favorite Mario now. Even after bowsers fury and odyssey.
I love the story and the maps in sunshine. After finally playing it I don’t understand the slight shade everyone throws it now a days. It’s a masterpiece

2:44 The resolution in the subtitle box is incorrect. It shows 1920x100p.
This video literally just turned into a Sunshine Rant halfway through.
Well it is IGN
Sunshine is amazing. The fact that he criticizes the story is beyond me. The story was great and fun.
I loved Mario agreeing with the question about where Galaxy 2 is.
Thank you for an honest review, appreciated!
I just bought this a few days ago and I'm so pumped, I've never played these games.
I'm excited for Super mario 64 cuz it is the first mario open world game, and i can't wait for galaxy it looks so fun!!!
If they make a remastered package of Galaxy 1 and 2 they can have my $60 day one. This doesn't cut it for me.
Extremely disappointing by the changes made and lack of effort on Mario 64.
MARIO 64:
- No widescreen
- No famous dialog when throwing bowser
MARIO SUNSHINE:
- No option for original aspect ratio on cutscenes or gameplay (cutscenes are now cropped)
- No option to use Gamecube controller with original controls (analogue trigger controls no longer function as originally designed)
- No inverted controls option
I'm missing a few, but these are what bother me most. Still got this collection on pre-order, mostly because I LOVE Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, but this collection is a lazy effort.
For galaxy:they didnt put the right joy on to pick up stars
I dont know how to spell cheeto it was auto correct Yes they did, there's 3 different ways to play.
@@JakeYolk are u sure cuz I saw that the only ways to point the star thing is to move ur controller and touchscreen I never saw it for the right joycon but if it is then u just saved my happiness
I dont know how to spell cheeto it was auto correct Yeah watch the nintendo trailers, hold on I'll link some with the times
@@JakeYolk thank u cuz I saw that it was only for the Camera angle
"Each game focuses on Mario, one of the weaker characters of the main campaign. - 8/10"
Me and my brother went half on the physical pre-order, I can't wait to play Friday!
A missed opportunity for Nintendo to do something similar to what was done with the Crash Bandicoot remakes.
Keyword “remakes”
They were going for remasters, which they did.
@@masonmurphy5402 . These aren't remasters. These are roms on an emulator that have minor upscaling
Deadsea1993 Gaming fr? Source code?
At 2:44 you say the game runs at *'1920×100p'* which I assume is a typo, because if it's not, then that's like *Super Ultra Mega Widescreen.*
I haven't played these in years, sunshine and galaxy are heaven. Glad to have them back
should I buy this? I am a young child and the only Nintendo consoles I have every played on is the Wii U and the Switch, I absolutely love super mario odyssey, do you think I would enjoy this collection of games?
You do realise these are three incredible games for 20 dollers each right? I know Nintendo was a bit lazy to the point they missed a huge mistake in the secret stage regarding cubes but still, these games should be respected how they are. I feel like sunshine though should have been upped to 60fps though. And maybe they should have made 64 16:9 and 1080p. A bit lazy but still incredible.
I love how this post contradicts its self in the end...they should be respected as they are but they should get updated. Amazing
incredible _and_ lazy? sounds like you meant to say incredibly lazy
As someone who's only emulated the og 64 on pc (I did play the ds version) never played or had anything to do with sunshine and can only barely remember galaxy this is a great way play these classics for me, especially since they translated the wii's motion controls extremely well onto the switch imo
“One noteworthy expiriment” ouch :(
5:55 they way mario responded to his questions
Mario has always been just for kids, but we're not kids anymore.
*you’re
I’ve never played any of these super Mario games - I own a Switch though and I’m intrigued. Should I go for it???
When you consider that there was a crash collection with 3 full blown remakes and way more features and was only $39.99, this is absalutely pathetic
The market for Mario games is much bigger than that for Crash
@@John-iq7vh For sure, but Nintendo put in no effort to make them better and still priced them at $60 is where the problem lies for me
If SM64 had widescreen, the game would be perfect.
Fans: I want to play all of the Super Mario games on the Switch!
Nintendo: here are all of the Super Mario games on the Switch.
Fans: but I wanted it to be better and different than what I asked for.
Nintendo: wtf???
Nailed it. I don't get the hate? It's 3 amazing games packaged in one and we can play ON THE GO.
@@AceDRenegade crappy sm64 port. Its 21st century and they cant even make the game use the full switch screen.
@@freestyla85 I think they left it as 4.3 as is the aspect ratio that suits better this N64 game while still preserving its original look.
supposed to be running on a inhouse emulator so I've got a feeling its only until march 2021 because is incoming N64 And gamecube backwards compatibility i think these are the test games
It's called artificial scarcity. Nintendo's been pulling this crap since the launch of the Wii, if not longer.

@@85wastedyears . Since the launch of Nes also. Plus remember Rob The Robot ? Epitome of rare
I am hyped about game. I like having the game be the same, reminds me of when i played it as kid.
Wait Mario riding a rolercoaster and going to jail is "wierd as hell", but Mario bouncing from stars inbetween galaxies is not???
At least galaxy has some sort of flow and correlation, sunshine doesn't really, like going go jail and riding a rollercoaster shooting rockets at mechanical browser doesn't really make sense together, but it is fun just not as much as galaxy.
I’m happy they didn’t change a thing cuz I never played these games and want the original experience and wanna try it out and see why everyone loves it
This collection is the epitomy of Nintendos maximum minimum effort to optimize profits mentality. I can't stand them as a company anymore.
2:47 1920x100p!? Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!
I noticed that too 😂😂😂
@@montygill2835 Just a little typo, these things happen!
I LOVE THE IDEA OF PLAYING THESE GAMES AGAIN !!........ but at $ 60 for the effort put in by the company is to give them a special touch as better graphics for that I prefer to play it on a pc emulator
The 60$ aren't for the imrovements, they're to play the games in one collection on the switch
@@Mqstodon. Through an emulator and so these are overpriced
@@Deadsea_1993 Collectors still love it
Super pumped for tomorrow me and my buddy are both taking the day off from working and he is setting up 2 tvs in his garage. Hyped to say the least.
Summary: Could be better, but It's worth buying.
This set is perfect for the parent who wants to introduce some classics that they played 2 decades ago to their kids.....
Honestly to the people complaining most of you are more than likely still going to buy it. Why? Because while yeah I agree more effort could have been put into this collection it's still ports of games from previous systems. Im just glad I can play these games on a portable system without running an emulator.
But they are running on an emulator. Just one without options xd
OK now I have a question I really really need an answer for so if you already bought it do you keep it on your switch forever or is it erased from your system
I think the limited time thing Is dumb but I’m happy we’re getting these still
It's dumb for us consumers but it's the best marketing move they could make as the producers
Ronny Brojomohun yeah and if they remastered it people would have found something new to complain about it’s just how the world is people want to complain about everything
1:05 Cretin Hop
Why does that text come up? What does it mean?
IGN is basically adding titles to the sections of this analysis, as though it were a written article. In this case, each of the titles is a music reference that's related to each of the games. Cretin Hop is a Ramones song, and in Mario 64 I guess technically you do hop on cretins.
Nintendo is getting more and more lazy
As long as they keep making the big bucks they won't change
What would you say if they hadn’t done this collection in the first place. They didn’t have to do remakes for anything.
As someone who has only okayed fakest of these 3 games, I’m loving 64. It’s graphics give me a nostalgic feeling even though I never played it. There is something about the authenticity of the game that makes it(in my opinion) more enjoyable than a perfect up to date remaster.
"Controls are super tight" dude, there's multiple reports of input lag
Yeah I can feel it I'm sure.
Seriously? First they change the original camera controls and now this? That's really disappointing.
@@BBB-pe3ip In Sunshine I can feel it I'm pretty sure.
@Jack Burton Sunshine has something going on. It's slight but it's there.
You won't notice it in handheld mode. Try changing your TV settings to game and see if that helps.
Sunshine is the first video game I ever played and is still my favourite by far
Whatever. I’m loving it. Been a blessing during quarantine.
default joycons, he's gonna feel drift soon.
Love the Beastie Boys reference!!!
I'm planning to play the games chronologically
Mario sunshine is great. The universe they created was the most charming Along every Mario games and still is to my opinion.
@@Aquardis you are 100% right i couldn't put words of why I didn't feel galaxy and odyssey, now you just did thx!
I already know how they emulate with improved graphics, I certainly don't need to by them again.
