  • Old Hickory Lake was Cedar City stop number five on the tournament schedule. OHL is one of those lakes that can be feast or famine depending on the mood of the fish as well as your ability to adapt as an angler. Keeping an open mind and covering water was the key to my ability to put five keeper in the livewell. I did have one dead fish and I was penalized half a pound. If it wasn't for this dead fish penalty I would've been in 5th place with 10.7 instead of farther down the leaderboard with 10.23. I learned the hard way that you can have TOO much ice and since my livewell is an actual cooler the ice did not melt like I had anticipated. I'll be honest, I panicked, it caught me off guard. What I should have done was bailed out as much of that cold water as possible and refilled my livewell with warmer water. Some lessons are only learned the hard way.
Later in the day the spinnerbait would get slapped at, but my hook up ratio diminished significantly. I fell back on my ole faithful tube and it landed me the rest of the fish I needed. When the fishing gets tough falling back on a confidence bait and slowing down your presentation can turn a tough day into a great day.
My productive baits were the War Eagle Finesse Spinnerbait / Zorro Baits Long Arm Aggravator Spinnerbait / Gambler Tube / Googan Baits Slim Shake Worm.

I was Old Hickory years ago in hot summer trolling for sauger and walleye when I saw thousands of shad jumping . I put on a topwater and was catching 14 to 16 inch bass every cast and it was 93 outside in hot afternoon. A guy I had met on the water before pulled up in his boat and caught a 7 pound bass. This guy pulled up in a jet ski and watched us for an hour catch fish after fish. I offered him a rod and reel but he declined. The next day I came back and he was there in his brand new bass boat he went and bought after seeing us catch a hundred fish.lol

@@anthonyfoutch3152 that’s wild man. Sometimes no matter how hard you fish it all comes down to timing and being in the right place at the right time.

Maaaan, I thought I had the ONE too. It goes that way sometimes. You’ll have to show me how it’s done sometime. OHL can humble you quickly lol

Young man I came across your videos and I want you to know that I really admire you. You seem to try and learn every time you’re on the water. I like the way you do your videos. I’m from Cookeville and fish Center Hill and Dale Hollow mostly. I found your videos trying to do some homework about Barren River; then watched this one. I’d love to get up with you sometime and fish together. I could learn a lot from you, and I’m sure you could pick up a thing or two from this old guy.

I really appreciate it sir. I try to make videos for the content and to help people learn. Not just for clicks or views. I hope you’re able to put more fish in the boat by watching.
I have a love/hate relationship with Centerhill. I like up until summer and then it gets tough for me out there. Maybe you can teach me a thing or two. I’m always willing to learn and grow as an angler.

my brother caught a 4.5 lb black nose crappie on Center Hill. Took it home and ate it. lol I carried my tween daughter and her friends to Burgess Falls and i was catch small catfish and a turtle when i hooked something huge it was a bluegill almost 3 lbs. I had never seen one that big. It was so white i thought it was a drum at first. I showed a guy beside me and was trying to decide what to do with it when it flopped out of my hands and back in the water. The big ones we caught in FL were almost black. It's amazes me how the same type fish can be different colors.

@@anthonyfoutch3152 he caught a 4.5lbs BLACK NOSE CRAPPIE and didn’t take a picture of it?
Centerhill is a giant lake. I’m sure there are some true monsters for every species that calls that roams the Hill.

A little early for a "safe light" launch.

There was already enough daylight my man. The GoPro makes it looker darker than it is.
Everyone has graphs and running lights for a reason.
