I agree with other's this kit should contain a hand polish, or maybe a SiO2 cleaner wax. Meg's next step would be to bring yo market a really nice sub $100 DA. The largest expense in detailing are the liquids and pads. So get the DYIer hooked, this product could be the gateway drug for the DYIer, with the addition of a hand polish, and Meg's adding a quality entry level DA polisher to thier retail line. A step in the right direction.
Your camera work is just fine. 👍 Some RUclipsrs that I otherwise really like and respect have turned their videos into Hollywood-like productions with fancy transitions, effects and annoying electronic muzak, making their content almost more about filmography than car detailing. Keep it up just the way you're doing; if I want to learn about advanced video production I'm sure there are plenty of channels catering to that.
The ceramic label is quickly getting ridiculous. Everyone is slapping it on every new product they make. We'll probably have "ceramic infused" microfiber towels at some point.. 😁 I doubt this kit is something most of us professionals will reach for, but it is a decent complete kit synthetic clay option available at local retail. The only synthetic clay I see in most stores is the Mothers Speed Clay, just the block, no clay lube, towels, etc. for around $25. I think a complete straightforward synthetic clay kit like this with zero guesswork might get more DIY guys into clay/decon, which is great. Thanks, Brian! 👍👌✌
Brian, love your videos but didn't understand the clay test. We all know water is not a lubricant, why not use the QD supplied in the kit?? Would've made a lot more sense, to me anyhow Cheers
I was wondering about this kit when I saw it on the store shelf. I thought it was kind or redundant but glad you tested it. I didnt think it made sense to put an Si02 product as the next step after claying of any kind.
Just used this kit today. I found it to be a pain to work with. The pad hangs up and has a weird feel going across the paint. I went back to the store and bought a Mothers California gold clay kit and re-clayed the car. The mothers kit pulled quite a bit off the Meguiar's kit missed.
You need to be a bit generous with the spray.. A list mist like a QD (similar to what you're doing) would most likely cause the clay rubber to mar and this kit is designed for consumers that wont be polishing afterwards.. So you should spray liberally enough that the entire surface is misted.. (more like 150-200ml per car)
So my car is ceramic coated, but it feels like it needs to be clay barred, because of the contaminates, a iron wash did not remove them, I can feel them in the paint, what do you recommend to remove these so my paint is smooth again? I dont want the clay barring to mar the paint/coating though.

You should never use water as a lubricant for clay, detailer is included in these kits for a reason, because it’s far more effective as a lubricant. Your test probably wouldn’t have shown that much abrasion had you used the detailer and not water. You also didn’t mist the panel anywhere near enough when you were claying the side of the car, and you were claying over areas where you hadn’t applied any detailer, the disc was visibly grabbing the surface and wasn’t gliding freely as it should do. That itself will have caused marring.
On a side note, when the “Detailing Coroner” (Brian at Apex Detail 😁) has a moment. Could he cut into the new Griots G8 3” polisher, to break down its build components. Love it when you do this. I’m interested in buying one, but would like to see how it was built. Thx

Hello friend good morning I would like your help I sent my car to paint a door and I see micro paint on my windows and I feel when I pass my hand over the paint rough. What can I do at home myself to repair it and what to use that I can buy not so expensive.
I’ve already used this and I can say it works quite nicely I’ve used it on 6 cars already and it still seems good though I wouldn’t use it on maybe more than 5 cars
If you want a clever, time saving way to clay with a synthetic clay, check out this technique from Joe at Next Level ruclips.net/video/xdNINgFtxlM/видео.html skip ahead to 2:47. You can do this with synthetic but it will break down regular clay faster than usual. If you don't care you can do it with either.
BigOldDog Wow I’ve never thought of doing it that way I always wash them clay with dish soap water to help remove old wax so it’s easier to compound/polish
@@benjaminwallace4626 The only issue is, if you use traditional clay, the soap will cause it to break down faster than if you use a quick detailer or clay lube. SInce synthetic clays are just rubber, the soap doesn't negatively affect longevity at all. Using the Big Red Sponge the way Joe does is a great time saver and a great way to minimize any marring. It is similar to how some body shop guys do production wet sanding.
no matter how lubricated and clean the pad was, it would still occasionally grab and leave a nice black streak on my silver hoopdy... watched this to see if I was doing something wrong. guess not... it does work, but I'm not a fan of it.

Lets say, I go through a full works carwash drive through, the everything maxed out whatever they offer fancy shmancy package etc. I use micro fiber cloths, and dry off as much as possible. I drive home (10-20mins hwy). I park on driveway. - I apply this. Would this be a good after product post carwash/post dry on a warm day? The vehicle is approx 7 yrs old, black paint (tuexedo black metalic flek stuff)

The video quality looks good. Are you filming in 4K? Even if you film in 1080p, if you render in 4K and upload to youtube in 4K, you'll get far better encoding and the 1080 video will look far nicer in "4K" if that makes sense
Brian, I just came across this vid and have a question. I'm looking at a 24 year old C4 and the original silver paint is in excellent condition would you recommend just after washing hand polishing with a product like turtle wax hybrid ceramic polish and then topping with a sealant or would you clay bar first then polish and seal?

Can you provide a list or produce a video on which cars have the hard or soft? I am more concerned if I have to be work on soft paint and be aware (use less aggressive pads and products). Also, every synthetic clay product I've used required me to break it in on glass before using it on paint because they have all had a coating over the rubber to protect it during packaging. Does Megs not require a glass break in? I use a lot of quality QD or clay lube during claying and I have never run into a case where it marred to the point I noticed it and thought I had to polish. I use a lot of lube - like 24oz for a sedan. Maybe more if needed. If the clay isn't hydroplaning I add more lube. I first clayed around 2000.
Hi Brian, I am new to detailing and recently picked up an Adams mini swirl killer kit for correcting smaller areas on my own vehicles. Looking for a recommendation for a 5" to 6" da polisher, probably a 15 mm throw machine. I am happy with products I have bought from Adams, and leaning toward getting their 15 mm swirl killer mystery deal kit. If it is anything like the mini swirl killer mystery deal, it will come with a couple sets of pads, some cutting and polishing compound, and a few other detailing items for $200. Does anyone have favorites among the 15 mm da machines, or advice on what to stay away from?

But in your test which will abrade/marring more the clay or the clay disc sponge of the kit, think the demonstration wasn’t fair enough, water is a natural lubricant as you said, but maybe if you used another “specifically” clay lubricant (sort of speak)maybe the marring would be less with both clay options. The big difference is dirt will sink into the clay and grind less. With this pad, dirt will not sink in and it will roll and scratch the paint more. You should at least clean it after each small section if you are using something like this, but why use it at all when clay is safer?
The ceramic thing is turning into "limited edition" status, meaning....it's not special anymore, like how TURBO was used back in the 80's, I remember sunglasses that said TURBO, marketing😑
Meguiars just wants your money. They're not concerned about you doing things the correct way. They put the word ceramic on anything and mark it up 20%.

I used it to clean my car from contaminates then compound & polished it. Results were pretty amazing.

He used it to "prime" the clay disc then used the detailer spray to somewhat lube the surface ,I guess....

I’ll pass and keep using the chemical guys clay bars and Clay Lube spray. I’ve always like their clay kits over others.

This clay also needs break in on glass...yes. I use ONR as my clay lube...for the most part. Works great.

The only synthetic clay I enjoy comes from Nanoskin.
One nice thing is the foam pad makes it harder to drop the clay bar

The sio2 is in the meguiar's hybrid ceramic detailer, if that's what you wanted to know!
Only the Detailer contains Sio2.
