It is interesting how you are thinking of shapes all the time you are painting. I'm more of a slap/dash abstract painter, I don't think of shapes, mostly contrasts. Very intriguing how you go from complex to a more toned-down composition. Nice work! Especially liked the one on the right. I also like the way you get right into it at the start without a lot of preliminary chatter.

That’s one of the reasons why I love Judy’s art. It’s the contrast between shapes and shapeless areas of color and texture.

Love these videos that just go straight into a technique from start to finish. These are sooo helpful Judy! I heard that artists get stuck often at a 'stage' in their painting, either the start, middle or end. I struggle from middle to end, how much black/whites to add and still be integrated - abstract art is very difficult, people don't realise how probably harder it can be than realism....!!! I'm so grateful for your videos anyway, thanks from a newbie! 😊

You're not wrong - it is MUCH more difficult than representational work.

I like how you reference your own work for inspiration. Our own critic can be cruel, especially when fueled by comparison, but highlighting what you love about your own work can encourage and liberate a person’s personal creation. 😊 Thanks for sharing all your insights. 😃
