I worked for GE machining the front fan hub which the fan blades are installed. I also machined the stage 1 & stage 2 high pressure turbine discs.

incredible how tiny the oil reservoir is on such a huge engine. the large trents seem to have a lot of blowby, i assume from having the smallest possible reservoir as well. thank you for these most amazing videos/animations. definitely the best! very clear and easy to understand! :)

Fantastic video. Even not been a pilot I love technology and the science behind every machine and specially airplane. After watching these videos every time I fly my brain can see the harmony of all these components working together to make an airplane to fly in the sky and not only that but also flying for long hours connecting one country to another.

Keep up the good work please! I'm a big fan of the GE-90 and I'm a nerd that spends hour simulating on the T7 using PMDG magnificent airplane. This just explains the nuts and bolts of how this engineering masterpiece works!

4:30 interesting, they have core compartment cooling, and also, as shown earlier in the series, cooling systems for turbine clearance control... Kind of odd that they are not one and the same

Great videos! I've watched more than once. I'm just wondering why there are 2 number 3 bearings, I watched that bit it a few times, we had 1, 2, 3, 3, 4 & 5? i.e the 2 N2 front bearings are both number 3

    • @AircraftScience

It is strange, yet that is the way the bearings are labeled.
