I find my Echo Show 5 stops listening to commands if there's a fan or other source of background noise (music, TV, etc) near it for an extended period of time. It's like it "tunes out" due to too much ambient noise. Rebooting it fixes it temporarilly, but to quickly get it to respond again I just turn off the mic switch, give it 10 seconds, and turn it on again. It can then "hear" me again.
You explanation is spot on.. Same problem is happening with my echo show 1st gen... I wonder its just because of its two mics.. Normally the speakers has like 4 mics which makes them kind of better than this one

Still not working for some reason. Can watch movies on it, and get news updates but it just won't respond to voice.

apparently its a software bug and its been happening for months. If you buy an Echo show brand new it will work for a while but once it updates to the latest firmware via wifi the new firmware with the bug is installed and you're officially screwed, when will there be a fix? i have no idea
Man the screen doesn't work properly it take thousands touch to work...it lags alot though itss new...

Amazon admitted to me there was a issue with the last update but then new update 2 days ago didn't fix it... so appartently the new feature is paper weight mode. hahahahha AMAZON FIX YOUR SHIT!!!!

My alexia will work for about hours or so then wont respond out loud to voice and wont talk to me i have plug her tbe turn power back on then work again for a short time

Echo Show 8 time display is always wrong but the voice option gives the correct time. Finger Scroll doesn't work either. Date is wrong.

Tried all these obvious "fixes" but still no sound. Echo Show 5 used to work at previous property (sometimes had faults like not turning off when requested) but always had sound. Now no sound. After unplugging and connecting again it works for 10 minutes then again no sound. Had to put it in the guest room and use it as a clock!!!
I don't see how turning the volume up would change how the microphone works. The mic sensitivity shouldn't be affected by the speaker volume. Does nothing for me. Been like this since new too. I just can't use it with any constant background noise.
