  • In 2017, I took an AncestryDNA test that led me to discover a whole side of my family I didn't know existed! In this video, I explain how it all happened, meet family members for the first time in real life, and go back to the land in Jamaica, where it all started.

    I think this video is fascinating.I can recall some time ago it was featured about ancestry and they were saying that our jamaican ancestry could not be traced and classified us as rogue from Africa. And to hear you highlighting this is very encouraging. IF I could afford I would do an ancestry test. Other nations have painted a bad picture of us it's totally unfair. I think every well thi kink Jamaican should check out their ancestry.

    Amazing!!! In 2022 I was able to participate in something similar and connect with my grandmothers maternal side that I had no relationship with. It was beautiful and so important for African diasporic children like ourselves to connect with our ancestry ❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for sharing this journey

      That’s so beautiful you had the chance to connect too!! 💜 Couldn’t agree more on the cultural and even spiritual importance of knowing our family branches deeply. Learning about the history of my ancestors - and the women!! 😍 - has been unexpectedly empowering. Great reminder how far we’ve come and the source of our strength 💜

    Nice I need too go to my families plot of land and Graveyard in St Ann’s what were your results?

      @MsJacksonTravels  Год назад +1

      Yes definitely go! And if you can, go while you still have elders around who can share the stories and history. My ancestors were overwhelming from West Africa. The DNA matching on ancestry is how I connected with all these family members I didn’t know about.

      Why? Is it because many have European or Middle Eastern phenotype?? Alot of Cushtic peoples are a mix of North Africans and Middle Eastern ancestry.
