    Thanks for the breakdown of the stages. I’m 2 years in and they are starting to drop. I am loving them. I never had an ugly stage cause I was just so happy to not have to comb my hair. I didn’t really care how it looked cause of that. 🤣

      I will be 2-years in September started my microlocs with two strand twist. I also never had the ugly stage my only issue was that I didn't have about 2-3" of hairline when I got my install. So I was very self conscious and embarrassed about not being able to pull my hair back or up in a ponytail. For work I have to have it off my collar.
      So now that my hairline has grown almost entirely back...my loctician have installed over 20 or more baby locs in the front of my head. I just have to remember to braid and band them...because after a wash they all slipped out..😂😂

    I loved your journey to your 10 years of being locked. I have been micro locked for 2 years now, and have enjoyed each stage. When I was first locked and had to braid and band my 4 inches, I had to run to the grocery store quickly, and as I was searching for chicken, a woman walked up to me and asked me what had I done to my hair? Proudly I said to her, These are mocro locs. She asked in an obnoxious way, "why would you do that to your hair?" 😢 At first I was hurt, but then I thought about it for a moment and said, "Well because I love my natural hair, and am tired of trying to be someone I'm not.
    What really hurt the most is that she was a black woman as well, with relaxed hair... for the most part , I'm always receiving compliments on my locks. I truly love and embrace each and every phase that I have gone through in my two year loc journey. Thanks for your sharing video, it was truly inspiring.
    Blessings 🙏🏾🤗

      ❤❤ Thanks for sharing that story! I love your response to her. I've also had people say stuff like that to me, especially in the beginning. Even my own family! But for the most part, it's the people that value European standards of beauty and can't understand how we could be so comfortable in our own natural bodies. Stay confident and comfortable sis! 💜

      Same here a black woman was saying that my hair would fall out because I'm locking it. I started with two strand twist microlocs and I was the only person at my job that started locs while there.
      Now almost 22-months in the game sis always wants to see my micros and touch them because they have grown so much...😅 Some of these women are too funny. I bet if you see that woman ever again she will be like 😮 is that all your hair?

Several hikes planned and looking forward to it. I've also been to Amsterdam, North Holland, Munich, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium (Ghent & Bruges). All by car so also all the small town in between. Keep traveling, keep growing mentally and spiritually. Good luck.

    I clicked on your video bcuz your locs are Amazing and I aspire to reach that stage…I’m 4 years loc’d. Medium sized locs and I love my journey so far.
    My main issue has been proper moisturizing. I prefer using all natural products and finding that perfect routine is something I’m still working on…
    I love how my vanity has pushed me to eat healthier, drink more water, be stronger from the inside out and become a natural beauty instead of a superficial beauty.
    I never much understood the ‘beauty standards’ of the rest of the mainstream world so I never suffered that way with self esteem issues from comparison…I just been wanting to be the loveliest I can be from inside to out.
    Thanks for sharing your journey!❤

    I can totally relate to you as my story and my locks are similar to yours. I was tired of the relaxer or texturized look chemical Burns all of that. Then I transition with a silk press every 2 weeks and a weight loss journey. It did not mix. I then started wearing braids, just my hair braided all over ants. I transition once again after that I got my hair sister lock 4 in to 6 in was locked as I had straight ends. The first year being sisterlocked I trimmed my locks. The straight ends off. The second year same thing. I did another big chop trimming that straight ends off the third year. I was over it so I started noticing that my hair then stopped worrying out but started to drop 3 and 1/2 years. I trimmed off all of my straight ends and was mostly natural ly sister locked. It has been 5 and 1/2 years and my locks are thrive and I guess you could say they're in the eld er stage now and I love them. I have no regrets. And it's fourth. I know now I will say that I will be locked for life if that's what God allows me to be. Your hair is very beautiful. I'm truly inspired.

    I am going into my 3rd year with sisterlocks , my hair is fine 4c and mixed with gray. I love your hair color what is it? My hair jumps out of the locks. Was there a phase when your hair did that and when did it slow down? You also mention you gradually cut your hair did you do that yourself or your locktician, I have a problem when I ask for my hair to be trimmed for me it does not mean 2-3 inches. What does gradually trimming mean for you?

    • @MsJacksonTravels
      @MsJacksonTravels  Месяц назад

      I use dark and lovely to colour my hair. It's a combination of colours. I show the process here: ruclips.net/video/t8gL-BA7EMQ/видео.html. When you say it jumps out of the locs, do you mean that it's slipping out? That shouldn't be happening in year 3 🤔 Typically you can have slippage in the first year but once the locs start to form that ends. It will be different for everyone, for me that stopped after about the 8 month mark.
      When it comes to trimming, I'm VERY specific with my loctitian (I never cut myself). I just tell her how much I want off. When I had relaxed ends in the beginning, I was cutting half an inch each retight just to get rid of them, until one day I just told her to take all the relaxed ends off since I was sick of the slow cutting lol.

    • @MsJacksonTravels
      @MsJacksonTravels  Месяц назад

      You can get Sisterlocks with relaxed hair but you need to have about 2 inches of new growth. The new growth will be locked, the relaxed parts will not since it’s chemically straightened. Eventually it will need to go, many people keep it just for the length. I didn’t like the contrast between my locked hair and the straight ends, so that’s why I eventually got it chopped.
