this a true story of what Joshua went through in January of 2021, he was admitted into the hospital for septic shock and heart failure and basically the doctor told him if he hadn’t of came in earlier he would’ve only lasted 12 hours, so he wrote this for his mom after he got out.

Joshua did not lose his mom, don't worry! This song is actually about almost the opposite, in january last year joshua had a septic shock with heart failure, he had a 30% chance of survival and wouldn't have made it at all if it took him longer to go to the ER (the doctors actually said that if he hadn't shown up when he did, he'd probably be dead in 12 hours). Joshua said this song is a love letter to his mom (with whom he didn't have the best of relationship at the time) as sort of a thank you for being there with him but also from him realising what truly matters after going through that!

3:05 "please don't tell me this is real" ... Oh, it's real, and that makes it even more devastating.
Echoing all the other comments for context. What hits me hard about this song is the line he keeps repeating about "lately I've been praying to a god I've never known." From my understanding, Josh doesn't have a great relationship w/ religion but his parents do. When he says in the bridge "I hope you know that no one else could ever save me," and then skips right to the praying line, it makes me realize really how powerful a mother's love can be. Even when someone doesn't believe in God or have that connection with him, their mother can be that connection, that lifeline, and be strong enough to pass on that divine strength and healing and life. It blows my mind and makes me want to cry thinking about it.
It's hard to say for sure whether Josh is really going through it right now, but he definitely was at some point. He just finished the first leg of his first tour and is filming for HSMTMTS rn so he's keeping himself busy, if that makes you less worried :)

in january 2021 joshua was admitted to the hospital for septic shock and heart failure while he was in utah filming and was given a very low chance of survival. his mom caught the next flight to be at his side in the hospital and he’s said that that time together really strengthened their relationship (he moved out when he was 16). he wrote this song for her :)

No, he didn’t lose his mom. He actually had a near death experience last year; if he hadn’t checked into the hospital he probably would have died. He had septic shock and heart failure and had a 30% chance to live. This all happened while the world was bullying him online. And his mom flew over as soon as possible to be with him. So he wrote this is a love letter to her.

And the “stream this I guess” was bc he saw people tweeting thirst tweets about him lmao. But he’s definitely been through it in the last year bc of constant online bullying, so this EP has definitely been a culmination of that.

oh also the “stream sad songs in a hotel room i guess…” was because he posted a pic from the set of an upcoming music video and twitter was getting a bit thirsty and wild tweeting about how good he looked lmfaoooo! so he came on twitter to tweet about his ep and saw all the thirst tweets and that was his response 😂

This song/video concept remind me of an Asian artist called Chet lam the song is called just a little longer. It’s just a guy with a camera & his face through the whole video like this one. It’s a powerful video with a powerful message. You could see the raw emotion in his face. You should def check it out pleas 😊😊
