    The Nashville Tele is an absolute beast of a guitar. I have one of the last incarnations of the Deluxe with the noiseless. It’s a blues rock beast.

    I threw a Freeway 5-Way/10 Position Switch and Fralin Blues Specials in my Nashville Tele. Gives me Strat pickup combos, classic Tele combos and Series combos. The Guitar can make Every sound I want now.

    I have a Nashville Tele from the Fender Deluxe line. It's a fantastic guitar, especially if you're like me and you like to run through a lot of pedals. The Vintage Noiseless pickups have pretty high-headroom, so you can stack lots of overdrives in between the guitar and amp for a really broad range of tones.

    My first guitar was a Nashville Tele. I miss that guitar. The tonal palette I'm missing right now is the H in an HSS though. So my brain says HSS Strat. My heart says Nashville Tele.
    ...and my wallet says "Are you HIGH?? NOTHING! You get NOTHING!"

    Being a long time HSS and HSH player, I was totally floored when I took that guy's advice on Thomans channel an did a TSS strat. It has me ready to pull the humbuckers out of my strat. It put all the yap on the itnterwebs to rest about you need a tele bridge for a tele bridge pickup to sound right.

    I choose None Of The Above…LOL…Ever since I played the PRS Silver Sky at a local music store. It sounds good in all positions. Usually I never play the bridge pick up but the Silver Sky was actually very usable in the bridge position. Wasn’t too thin sounding.

  • @BenBreard

    I wire my Nashville style guitars to default to N+B in the middle (which is the proper sound for all 3 single coil guitars - fight me) and place the middle on a push-pull since I rarely use it. Doing this on three instruments has improved my quality of life by 5%!

  • @TheMusicalSchizo
    @TheMusicalSchizo 3 года назад +1

    Traditional Nashville Tele wiring is Neck and Bridge in the middle, as I understand it. Weirdly, my 1990 USA HM Strat Ultra has that, too - it's wired where the middle position of the 5-way switch is neck and bridge - NOT the middle pickup by itself - and I didn't know that FOR YEARS (mostly because I was such a noob when I got that guitar). My brother's late-90s Tex-Mex Nashville Tele is the same. Love the middle position on a Telecaster WAY MORE than using the middle pickup on a Strat (middle is so FUNKY)...so I'm totally cool with it not being available, but kudos to Fender for adding the option!

    As noted in the video, there are compromises when trying to take an existing design and add something to it. I'm learning as time goes on that if money allows, let a strat be a strat, let a tele be a tele, let a les paul be a les paul etc. For me, the differences are the magic. About money though, you can get good guitars without the high price tag and afford a few different kinds!

    Both of those guitars are fine. But it's really just as easy to have 2 guitars to cover the bases. I've spent most of my professional career using just one guitar to cover all the bases, and it didn't matter if it had humbuckers or single coils, a player can still get good tones for the song at hand. However, either of these guitars would also do a fine job with it. I don't think there is a problem in the first place, that is trying to be solved.

    They both sound and look great. It depends on your style and to me, if I want to use the whammy bar or not. I’m comfortable on both but for some reason I tend to lean towards the Tele in general. There’s just something about that neck pick up that I love. If I need a fatter humbucking sound from the bridge pu, I’ll use an overdrive and possibly an EQ pedal as well. Either way would work. I do love the blue fade into white on the strat though, but I’d do the Tele

    Companies started importing guitars so people that couldn't afford the flagship models could enjoy a guitar that was close to the flagship models without the cost attached to those models. In other words people turned to the imports that couldn't afford the USA made guitars but now that the imports price is in the same ballpark as the USA models then what's the point in buying an import when for a few hundred dollars more you can have the real thing? I refuse to buy an import for over a grand, at that point I can get an American Professional strat or a Gibson SG or something USA made that's used. I don't get it, import prices are astronomically ridiculous.

    • @Amish_Trivedi
      @Amish_Trivedi 3 года назад +1

      I don't disagree, especially with regard to the price range, but I'm curious how much difference you feel it makes between American models and imported. In other words: where do you think all the individual parts are made?

    • @srh361
      @srh361 3 года назад +2

      @@Amish_Trivedi I get that question a lot and it's a valid question. For me personally I can tell the difference between a USA made guitar and an imported one and I think USA is superior to an import be it a Gibson to Epiphone or fender USA to fender Mexico etc, better woods, better finish, better attention to detail and most of all the desire to play the USA over an import. Plus if I ever need to sell one the USA model will sell relatively close to what I paid if not more while with the import I'll be lucky to get half of what I paid. And with the USA model I know a fellow American was employed and made the instrument ( I'm Union) and to me that's important for our economy. I own ten USA Gibson and Fender guitars and six imports and their top tier imports but they don't come close to the USA made ones. The Mexican fenders are very close but not close enough at the price they want for them now. I have an American Professional strat and an import Mexican strat and the American Professional is superior in every aspect. Really all I'm trying to say is that imports are way too expensive these days so what's the point.

    • @srh361
      @srh361 3 года назад +2

      @@Amish_Trivedi I also understand the electronics are made in Asia but at this time there's no getting away from that.

    • @Amish_Trivedi
      @Amish_Trivedi 3 года назад +2

      @@srh361 Completely valid points and also pro-union, I was mostly just curious what you felt those differences were. I would agree that the perception of American made's quality has a bigger impact on resale, which seems to be a thing most people consider (I don't, oddly). I think it's pretty fair to assume that most of the parts are similar, but who is making it matters- and it should matter to us. We should want fair wages, here and elsewhere, I would hope. Thanks for your honest response :)

      This is not your daddy's MIM Fender.
      I have an American performer level strat, which is close to these in price. The performer is closer to a vintage spec, old style pickups and tuners. If you want that vintage feel, then ya, get a performer. If you want more modern features like noiseless picks and locking tuners, switching options, get a player+. It's really 2 different things. As the marketing suggest, player+ is like the American Ultra series, but MIM; and the American Ultra series is closer to double the cost, not a couple hundred more.

    I understand the need to use Pau Ferro on the cheaper guitars from Fender, Epiphone etc but man does it look cheap compared to Rosewood. The grain and discolorations just looks cheap IMO. I would almost rather have baked maple.....I'm sure the Pau Ferro plays fine but it sure looks terrible
