    I love seeing the chefs in these beautiful nature settings in Norway cooking such phenomenal yet simple Nordic cuisine.

    My mother Karen Gundersen came from Fredrikstad….. her brother was Ivar who was the manager of Bjellands fish factory and I loved the Gaffelbitter tinned fish… used to go to Slevik ( near Hanke ) as a 7 year old in 1958 and row out in my own without any life belt and catch Torsk ( cod)…. wonderful memories

    I'm an American who bought stockfish for the first time. This potato recipe was absolutely amazing.
    I was reluctant to try the stockfish but when I did I couldn't believe how much it tasted like fresh fish

    I am from USA but I want to live in Norway so much. I dream of going on the Hurtigruten and also visiting Lofoten one day.

      They are other boats that go exactly the same route as Hurtigrutten, only that its not "official". They are much cheaper. The Hurtigrutten boats can be expensive

    same, spoonfulls of NOSE stink and COD LIVER OIL everyday, ate piping hot bowl fulls of porridge with no sugar sometimes we were allowed maple syrup, sometimes, so eventually I got addicted to PEPSI and MTV and that is when my nervous breakdown happened! I became VERY lethargic and my Dad said I was acting FLY?
    My Benggali Daddy made me eat fish head almost everyday, I also ate the stank fish which really is a delicacy for chefs who know it ( BOMBAY DAK) that food I ONLY got when i was not being FLY.
    MUM said its posh to have barley water with maple syrup and I guess my arse was itchy most of my childhoods as the kilt was an everyday thing. SO I guess my nose knows what FLY does not know.
