I think it took me about 10 years to really feel safe with myself. I understood the concept, and thought I was feeling safe with myself. But looking back now, I needed therapy and a lot of work to be done by myself during those 10 years. And now I can finally say yes, I am feeling more and more safe within myself. So people, don’t give up! It just just takes time, and for most people, it won’t take 10 years ❤

Calling all Harry Potter fans !! 🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️
In one of the films Harry, Ron and Hermione got caught in the devils snare... The more they fought it and struggled to free themselves the tighter it gripped them and dragged them down...
When they totally let go and relaxed their bodies and didn't resist it - the snare completely let go and released them....
This is how I try and think of it when I'm overcome with sensations/symptoms..... ❤❤❤

This is why meditation and breathing exercises are so helpful. Not as a cure for symptoms, or to heal from them, but as a way of calming the nervous system so it's possible to be in a place where we can believe in healing. Phil, in the fantastic rheumatoid episode, mentioned how helpful meditation had been for him. It's been helpful for me too, and allowed a calm space out of what can feel like a war zone.

Everything starts with us - within us .. Our cells are always listening to the internal thoughts/messages/emotions we give out... 💗
Nothing and no-one can give us the true internal needs that our body and mind are seeking - it comes from deep within us... 💗
When we 'let go and just be' rather than 'fighting' everything - the body and mind can come back into homeostasis and heal.. 💗
Listening to and internalising and implementing what Dan teaches every day will steer us in the right direction and give us the faith in ourselves when we lack it.... 💗💗💗

Our bodies get addicted to the chemicals that come with survival. Thankfully I had some carefree years despite so much childhood trauma. Later years life has took its toll but I'm trying to see it as a blessing. Stuck in fight and flight over a month since returning to a traumatic event/place (subsequent PTSD)but I'm trying to see my body as healing. Getting there, but for me it's a solo journey that I can complete. 🙏

Brilliant analysis. A lot of social media channels focused on mental health have this backwards. This sigma alpha dave goggins mindset to fight yourself and your thoughts only increases self hate and quickens your heart rate as you try to battle your way through life. I think another video of yours spoke about it "stop trying to heal all the time and start living". This constant fight is just another coping mechanism to make you feel a main character while not actually moving forward. Thanks Dan. A lot to unpack in this one. More than a yt comment can do justice.

I try my best to ignore symptoms, but specially when sitting down it can be so bad I feel like I might implode. I can’t even control my breathing.
I do not avoid sitting down but that doesn’t make it any easier :(
Relaxing my body IS a battle and I don’t want it to be though.
So much wisdom in your words.

The concept of ‘shifting attention’ is very important, I think, but also one of the most difficult things since the symptoms start to scream out loud if you try to do it. Let’s shift atention, I tell myself often. That’s not ignoring or denying the symptoms, nor pushing through. It’s a subtle way to put something next to your symptoms

Thank you Dan. Was told I had hip arthritis and needed a new hip. After a life time of dancing this diagnosis devastated me. The pain became crippling. You’ve totally changed things for me. I’m back dancing and moving and I’m constantly telling my brain to stop protecting me…..yes I am less flexible on that side, but my hip pain has gone from a 9 to a 2. I won’t be resorting to surgery, I will be continuing with the methods you teach THANK YOU AGAIN Georgie England UK

One things that really helped me understand the importance of this was hearing someone bedbound say they feel like they’re fighting a war everyday. And I understood but it also made me realize there’s no way that view is helpful and one persons bedbound war is another persons vacation and it’s up to me to choose how I view things

Dan I have understood the concept for a long time. But I never thought of it this way. I guess i am fighting. But i seem to fix a problrm. Fibro. Only for another to appear. Costochdritis. Now thats given nr anxiety. Its a scary one. And a viscous circle. Brain gives us pain. The very thing trying to sort. The anxiety is helped by distraction. For me that has to be interactive now. I need to chat. Not about problems. So now I realise im battling. I have to try to stop fighting. Thank you

For me, it was always a battle between good and evil. Light and dark. I was on the good side, and they were evil forces against me. It is a very harmful perspective on the psyche.

My belly and thighs get bloated and inflamed when I work out - I had to stop for a week - I thought my stomach was going to burst - I will resume exercise again though when the inflammation goes down - taking apple cider vinegar and water, ginger and fennel tea, organic coconut oil, aloe vera, oregano oil. It helps move things along in the digestive tract.
