      dont forget to hookup the blue wires in the heater wire loop. its an overheat kill switch which is pretty important if the pump fails.

  • @leoisright
    @leoisright 2 года назад

    pretty good instructions. My unit had a little different wiring for those white heater wires, but the pump and air jets are working fine via remote. Time will tell if the heat is working because the water was about 65.
    Thanks for uploading these! Much better control system!

    Lol good job! I just might have to this myself! As soon as I turn on the filters I get the codeE90! New pump nope not the problem, new filters, on and off tried it both ways. Cleaned the heater out from hard water deposit and both sensors and temp sensor nope! I even put new outlets in lol. But my GFCI won’t reset unles I unplug and plug the spa cord back in. So I must have and issues either with that or the wiring inside. The only issue I had at first a few years ago was the impeller magnets disintegrated, the shaft is still working fine. I’ve had my intex spa since July 2015, this year it’s just not working only the air.

    • @toptenfenn
      @toptenfenn  3 года назад

      yeah the cheap circuit boards in these things i think is the main issue. as long as you have some sort of safety device (GFI out etc.) then I think your ok to try anything. main thing is to get your pump to turn on and off when you want and second for the heat to turn on and off. Goodluck

    Well it's been a couple of years I want to know if your unit is still working. I didn't get brave enough to do it 😬 I wish I had! Now the season is changing I normally would bring it inside . I did replace the tub but right after that I coded E90 🤬 and my motor (impeller/rod) is good.

    This was great info. I have the model where the controls are flat, not on a post. I think all else is the same. I've rigged mine to heat using a propane camper water heater. Works well. How badly does it hit your electric bill. Do you use yours in the winter? Saw the snow thrower in the video. My pump died before within the first year and they replaced it free. I really like what you did. I'm hesitant to run the pump 24/7, but that would keep it warm in the winter. Thanks.

    • @toptenfenn
      @toptenfenn  3 года назад

      So I've had it running 24/7 since around July 5th 2020 and now it is March 15th 2021. I live in the mountains of Colorado and yes we get lots of snow and some cold nights. The heaters cant get the temp above 100 unless its 40 degrees or more outside during the day. So usually the day after it snows its cold for a day or 2 then comes back up to temp 105-106. I replaced the pump once and it was the only time I've ever shut it off. The pump does not like to stop and start in the cold, better to leave it running 24/7. Its about $25 per month in power bill to leave it on 24/7. FYI- In the video I did not hook up the blue wires which kill the power if the heaters get to hot (lack of flow / broken pump) but they were hooked up a couple days after I made sure it all worked.

    Hi, thanks for teh great video, how many amps do you have for the heating are 10 enough?

    • @toptenfenn

      Mine is a 15 amp circuit

    • @toptenfenn
      @toptenfenn  3 года назад

      i think 15 amp is the requirement. If you were only running just the heaters and not the blower fan then maybe 10amp. Otherwise you will probably just trip your breaker a lot.

    Clunky but I have to do it. My circuit board fried itself, melted a hole in the back of it and smells like burnt wiring. Was untouched the impeller it came with had the ceramic shaft looked fine after 3 years of constant running at 104 I want 106 too TY !!!

    Hey, great video.
    the only thing I want is control of the air blower, do you know the type of blower and what kind of dimmer/fan controller it would require, sick of it on full blast with the noise it makes

    • @toptenfenn
      @toptenfenn  3 года назад

      Im not sure, but a normal 120v dimmer switch should work. Not sure how you would safely adjust it tho if you were wet. Mine uses a remote control for on and off. You could technically just dim it to your preference then use the remote. These steps would include rebuilding the system like i did. goodluck

    • @alexalequinramos253
      @alexalequinramos253 2 года назад

      What I did was drill a really small hole in the cap that covers the outlet used to inflate the tub. That relieves some of the air to prevent that full blast you’re talking about. It’s worked for me, bubbles are less aggressive and it’s definitley quieter.

    I hope someone out there reads this because I haven't found it anywhere online. My Intex spa blows air just like it should but nothing comes out the jet ring inside the spa along the bottom. It seems like there must be one way air valve there to keep water from coming back into the blower, but I can't figure out a fix. Anyone? Thanks

    • @toptenfenn
      @toptenfenn  3 года назад

      the top piece with the little screen that blows off in my video is above the water line. Therefor the water cant exceed that height and flow into the fan unit. make sure that top piece is connected correctly.

      @@toptenfenn I too am a bit confused about what to do with some of the more random wires on the circuit board. It would be awesome to have an in-depth video following each set of wires to show what you did with then. I’ve looked for a schematic of the board and system, but found very little that is useful.
      For example - What did you do with the descaler wires/system? Can you specifically talk about wiring the temperature shutoff safety (blue wire/gold screw)? I’d really like to do this, but I’d rather not burn my house down because I missed something simple! ;)

      Pause the video at 4:04 . You see the blue wires going to the white piece with the golden screw? That kills the power if the heaters get to hot. So yes it is still safe guarded. PS- Im going to make another video soon but this setup is still running flawlessly as of March 14th 2021 and I made it on July 5th. So a solid no problem 9 months. Well worth it to me.
