Barcelona was one of the BEST Olympics. Every shot was scenic. I remember watching this Olympics for hours. The diving competition with Greg Louganis looked like a movie.
I was curious about what you were talking about and looked it up. Greg Louganis didn't compete in Barcelona in 1992. He competed in Seoul in 1988, in which he hit his head on the diving board, causing him to bleed into the pool, which 'paralyzed him with fear' because he thought he would infect the other divers with his HIV. Were you talking about Seoul or Barcelona?
For those who don’t know, it was filmed so we can’t see the arrow pass behind the flame. He did missed the target by a few meters, but it was a gas flame, which was turned on as soon as the arrow passed the target from the camera POV. So he didn’t rly hit the shot, but the realisation in general was perfect (📌?)
From memory he had a range where the arrow had to fly within for the cauldron to be lit. As long as it was within that range it would work. They made it look spectacular and that’s all that matters.

This is called “spiking” and is most likely more for the lighting technician and cinematographers’ benefit rather than the archer’s. Emphasis on the lighting technician (that being one of my big hobbies!) as low-angle incandescent (par64?) lights are being used to light the archer and stage, meaning that the archer being off the mark would lead to very awkward lighting where the archer is in the dark and an empty part of the stage is unnecessary highlighted~
I remember watching that with my parents. That was a very magical Olympics. Great job Spain! I have many fond memories of those games. Especially the gymnastics and DREAM TEAM!
The arrow shot by Antonio Rebollo was intentionally aimed NOT TO HIT the Olympic cauldron directly. This was planned for safety reasons to avoid the risk of misfiring or other technical issues. The arrow was meant to fly over the cauldron, as seen, and the flame ignited due to a pre-arranged mechanism. This was an impressive solution.

I remember watching this when I was a teenager. One of the most impressive things ever.
Incredible! I am happy he made it! The music added to the suspense! Well done. Cheers!🥂
Yes its cool but you can see that he missed. They just have a remote igniter in the firepit.
Look at how the archer has a marker on where he needs to stand. I like how much he prepared for this.
Pero realmente sabes cómo se preparo ???
Sigue la flecha encendida
Y mira como continua por detrás
No cae Justo dentro
Estaba encendida ya pero con menos fuego
Y al pasar lo subieron
Fíjate cómo detrás del balde
Sigue la flecha encendida
This is called “spiking” and is most likely more for the lighting technician and cinematographers’ benefit rather than the archer’s. Emphasis on the lighting technician (that being one of my big hobbies!) as low-angle incandescent (par64?) lights are being used to light the archer and stage, meaning that the archer being off the mark would lead to very awkward lighting where the archer is in the dark and an empty part of the stage is unnecessary highlighted~
When the archer was just getting ready his stance, the white crescent light glare lines up so perfectly with the arch of his bow. 🤩 so majestic!
Love how RUclips recommends videos that aren’t available.
What an amazing year for Barcelona 92'. Barca won their 1st champions league that year and hosted the Olympics
I still remember this like yesterday 😍 the best Olympic opening ceremony till date
Muhammed Ali! 🥊
I've watched many Olympic opening ceremonies but 1992 at Spain was always my favourite. My Grandpa when he was in spain watched this alive.
Hellow from Barcelona 😊
Those were the authentic Olympic ceremony. Olympic needs to bring back the originality within themselves.
One of the finest games ever , highlighted by one of the finest theme songs and the legendary dream team
Was it one moment in time? Whitney Houston?

@@asperneto wow really? For some reason I remember that song and the Olympics. I was only 4.
The song was Barcelona by Freddy Mercury and Monserrat Caballé.

The thing with this shot is, you are making history either way :D
I remember watching that with my parents. That was a very magical Olympics. Great job Spain! I have many fond memories of those games. Especially the gymnastics and DREAM TEAM!
The arrow shot by Antonio Rebollo was intentionally aimed NOT TO HIT the Olympic cauldron directly. This was planned for safety reasons to avoid the risk of misfiring or other technical issues. The arrow was meant to fly over the cauldron, as seen, and the flame ignited due to a pre-arranged mechanism. This was an impressive solution.
Very interesting historical trivia. Thank you for sharing. I think I see the arrow pass over and then beyond the cauldron.
