  • In my episode “The Cargo Corps” it was pointed out in the commentary that the quantity of cargo carried in such ships, or even the TAS robotic cargo ships seen in the video for that matter, would be minuscule relative to the amount of cargo necessary for the Federation.
    My argument was that the Cargo Class ship was for emergencies when speed mattered. Bulk quantities would be carried in a slower but higher volume alternative. In modern terms it would be the difference between shipping by air , fast but expensive, or by sea, slow but cheaper.
    But what would this space freighter look like? In “Star Trek Space Flight Chronology” published in 1980, there was an answer. It had a small picture and a brief description of such a method of bulk cargo warp travel.
    I tried to render a relatively close approximation in this animation…
    It is extreme, but it would make sense to have a bulk cargo method of some type…
    You wanted bulk cargo, you got it! 😁🤣🖖
