    I got my Tuono 660 iridium grey yesterday from the aprilia dealer. First steps, get rid off the passenger footpegs and mirrors. Next step for the winter time: tail tidy, and quickshifter if its available in germany😂, also if its available rest seat cover in black. The IMU is a giveaway

    Hi! Do you also notice on the clutchless downshifts, that the gear selector needs a little more force to jump into gear? My RS660 feels it needs a little more pressure on the blipped downshifts. The more rpm though, the better it seems to feel.

    • @tankslapmoto9999
      @tankslapmoto9999  Год назад +1

      Yeah it feels a little stiff below 5k, I think the manual might even say not to use the QS below 5.5k. I find it very smooth above that rpm. It is the same on the V4 as well, the only bike that seemed to like the quickshifter at low rpm was my Gen3 MT09SP, you could go up or down at 2k and it was like butter

    Hello, is this a daily rider for you? How's it holding up to the UK weather? Thanks.

      Hi, no it's just a weekend toy really but I have been out on it over the winter and the bike seems to be holding up really well, you have to be careful not to scratch the matt paint but no signs of corrosion. Overall build quality seems good so far👍

  • @fabiantb

    @TankslapMoto I'm also thinking about adding a quickshifter to my tuono 660. Dealers say it's on backorder for months, no deliveries... So just ordered one from German ebay shop. Is there anything else needed on top of the standard package? (partNo 2S001793) Any fixings, fittings needed? Or just the sync you mentioned?

    • @tankslapmoto9999
      @tankslapmoto9999  2 года назад

      Hi, from memory that's all you need. You can even use the existing ball joint and just screw the new rod on to it. The plug was a little tricky to find, I think it was tucked up on the right hand side along the sub frame rail, it has a white and yellow blanking cap plugged into it i think (very small) and then it is just a case of them turning it "on" at the dealership👍

    How fast is the Tuono 660 compared to the MT 09. I’ve been going back and forth on which to purchase.

    • @tankslapmoto9999
      @tankslapmoto9999  2 года назад +3

      Hi, the MT09 certainly feels faster but there's not a huge amount in it in the real world, the TUONO is still plenty fast, you just have to work the engine harder to extract the performance. I'd imagine that the MT would probably pull 3-4 bike lengths up to 100mph.

      @@tankslapmoto9999 I was looking at the RS660 1st but the reliability & lack of service shops stopped me from considering it here in California. I will be moving to the middle of nowhere America and cant tow it 100 - 200 miles for repairs.

    • @JamesBond-ph6hr
      @JamesBond-ph6hr 2 года назад +2

      I’ve had the opportunity to ride both. The mt09 is fast and does what you’d expect it to do, but that’s it. The tuono does the same but with character, sense of terror/happiness/fear/excitement and theater! Believe me…if the tuono was in the same price bracket as the mt09, street triple, etc…it would outsell them all day, every day.

    • @Jesusprayerwarriorbw
      @Jesusprayerwarriorbw 2 года назад +1

      @@JamesBond-ph6hr So, more character. Does that mean more time in the shop for repairs? It is Italian.

    • @JamesBond-ph6hr
      @JamesBond-ph6hr 2 года назад

      @@Jesusprayerwarriorbw Correct. That’s a given. Within a month of launch, the Tuono and RS 660 were issued with a recall notice for engine malfunction where it would suddenly seize. On the other end of the spectrum, the mt09 would be bulletproof. I had an mt07 and couldn’t break a single component regardless of how hard I pushed it. If you go with the Aprilia, get very friendly and familiar with your local dealer, the service advisors and know everyone in the workshop by their first name because you WILL need them 👍

    I pick my tuono 660 iridium grey yesterday from the aprilia dealer . First action: get rid off the passenger footpegs and mirrors. Winter time project: Tail tidy, quickshifter and reat seat cover when its available in germany. Lucky me the IMU is a aprilia germany giveaway purchasing a brand new tuono 660 till end of october.
    How much it is cost in england for initialising the quickshifter through the aprilia dealerr?
    I think its only connecting service laptop to the bike and change the ecu settings to quickshifter and IMU installed.
    A matter of minutes😂😅

    • @tankslapmoto9999
      @tankslapmoto9999  2 года назад +1

      Nice👍 I think the grey is the best colour. I think the quickshifter initialisation was around £80 + VAT. You'd think it's a 2 minute job but they make a job of it... Plugging it in, checking for updates, then the test ride to make sure it's all working, then back on the laptop...😀 Fitting the quickshifter itself only took me ten minutes!

      @@tankslapmoto9999 The motorcycle dealers make their money with inspetion services to keep the manufacturer guarantee for the customer😂😎 The first run in inspection is a better oil change and costs round about 200-300 Euro for a midsize bike in germany.

      @@martinwhitby7261 They said the same to me, it showed up about 5-6 weeks after ordering. Odd that they don't give time-frames... Must be a Piaggio thing. I asked the dealer if they could just nick one from the rs660's they had in stock but they said oh no it's a different part... (looks identical to me). Why do you have this and an MT09SP, they are similar bikes?

    • @tankslapmoto9999

      Because why not😂 No the truth is, the TUONO is my brothers. We ride and make videos for the channel together. I need to do more videos featuring the two of us (we must sound very similar). I should also do a video comparing it to the MT, I have ridden the TUONO a fair bit and whilst it is similar to the MT, it is quite different...

      No not on the 660, it works great on the v4 for when you want traction control but no wheelie control and you can really notice the traction control reading the lean angle on the v4 but I'm not sure it's necessary on the 660. I tend to just turn everything off on the 660 if the weather/grip is good 👍
