I love just hearing you play!!!! I have recently purchased the Gentleman and I do love it. I own the Giant as well. I uninstalled Alicia’s Keys. Sometimes I use the Addictive Keys Studio Grand which is decent and less taxing on my cpu. Thanks for the great playing and review!
@@SamTheBeardGuy Yes your right. Most of the musicians do not care about the technical details of their instruments. So your not alone. But still the authenticity of the piano sounds without the Piano Engine when you are aware of it is noticeable for sure.
I think String resonance it’s a big deal if you want to combine with realistic piano noises like hammers pedal noises etc. and It’s already a preset in nord pianos.
My biggest issue with the Grandeur is that the timbre of the bass notes is not aggressive (bright) enough when played forte. Re The Giant - it would be fantastic for "Cornflake Girl" (Tori Amos) :D
Excelente video! Today I decide for the maverick, I think you should play a 20’s 30’s jazz demonstration with that piano. Would be amazing ! Thanks for the good content
Who taught you piano? Have you considered lessons? What are some tips you can give someone like me who learned some piano at 5 years old, I understand the basis of melodies, how to get sounds I want to an extent, but what are sayyy…. 5 important tips.
I watched this because I'm buying a new controller and a couple of them come with the gentleman, have you got an opinion between the Arturia Essentials MK3 and NI A49? Lovely to listen to your playing as always!
Could the issue with Alicia's Keys be that it only has 12 velocity layers, while Giant Gentleman Maverick & Una Corda all have 18? Is your dislike for it primarily about the playability and dynamics rather than the timbre?
I am biased to the roland digital and yamaha acoustic I’ve played although i think the una chorda and Alicia keys sounds best, the others seem too clanky on the higher notes, with a little more clipping / bite that doesn’t feel authentic to the piano sound
In a live band setting, so much of the nuance is lost, anyway. With NI, I struggle to eq the muddiness out of the bottom end of their pianos. I need more presence across the range…
@@SamTheBeardGuy Try playing the opening to "Long Way Home" (Supertramp) on The Grandeur - the bass notes don't sound aggressive enough, IMHO. (no problems with volume - it's just the timbre)
@@SamTheBeardGuy yeah a U3 would be nice or even something like a Bluthner upright.... Maybe a bigger grand piano, something a bit more clinical in a mix. They really need add string resonance etc on the upright piano and perhaps add the ability to change mic position's to sit better in a mix because sometimes I struggle to get the C7 to fit in.
What sustain pedal do you use I wonder? And do you think simple on-off square pedals have any use as a sustain pedal? Haven't tried one but think of it as a light and portable thing. Thanks.
What would you recommend to somebody who loves the Embertone but their computer CPU just can’t handle it? Keyscape just seems too expensive for just the piano.
Gentleman is definitely one of my favorite pianos to use… it sounds so great
yep!
Ugh man the una corda piano just never stops sounding so DREAMY.
Maverick is my favourite. Very versatile, grand in centre, honkey tonk , and soft piano all in one.
Maverick is great!
Same here
I came actually to see the difference between sounds, and I forgot about that for a second, you played that very smooth

Uninstalling Alicia keys is a great move 😂
@@SamTheBeardGuy 😂😂😂
The sole fact that Alicia´s Keys CAME OUT IN 2010! and is STILL always in every contemporary virtual piano comparison is amazing....
You could play a damn detuned saloon piano and it would sound wonderful. Could listen to your playing all day long.
thanks!
i love how you play the keys
Came for some info, and as always, stayed for the music ;l-)
hahaha, thanks
Me too! I just let it play while I was going off and researching instruments.
I just bought KeyScape because of your reviews, now I'm here looking at others. Hugs from Brazil!
thanks!
Great playing !!!!🎹🎹🎹🎹👍👍
Keyscape doesn't have "String Resonance" modeling engine. Just simple samples of piano. NI do have at all pianos.
yeah, never bothered me though haha

@@TamirOrkobysPianonot a single native instruments piano actually sounds like a piano though, keyscape is at least halfway there
*if native instrument's pianos sound nothing like pianos, keyscape is halfway there, which vst actually sounds like a piano?* 🤔
Beautiful playing. Thank you
👍Ian
thanks!
I love the gentleman. Something about it always makes me want to keep playing

He’s back 😍
hahaha, yeah, slow summer.
NI recently released Piano Colors. Looks like Noir with modified effects. Maybe you can do a review of it soon...
Didn't know that, I'll check it out

thanks for watching!

Your style is incredible… do you offer lessons? Or have you thought about writing a teaching book or sth like that?
I don't currently offer lessons, but I'm thinking about opening up some time for it. Have never thought about a book though, that's interesting idea.
@@SamTheBeardGuy I'd also translate it into German if you'd want to :D
Me gusta la dinámica de The Giant, configurandolo se puede ajustar para sonidos tan suaves y profundos como para música de cine ❤
Thanks for this! what is your favorite 'realistic' piano vst in 2024?
Realistic would be the Garritan CFX and VSL pianos. But that doesn't mean they're better in every scenario

mix of both, I think with all the more modern libraries having deeper velocity layers, it's just hard for me to use anymore.
The grandeur es el que mas me gusta solo a mi parecer le falta un poco mas de cuerpo pero es el que tiene nejores dinámicas me encanta ❤
Amazing!!!
thanks!

Hey there, Which midi keyboard are you using? Thanks!
Korg D1!
Should I go for NI or keyscape?
In a live band setting, so much of the nuance is lost, anyway. With NI, I struggle to eq the muddiness out of the bottom end of their pianos. I need more presence across the range…
Yeah, depending on which one you're using. I don't feel grandeur has that problem, but maybe I'm going deaf

Una Corda....#wow
It’s great!
Which software would you recommend for good Steinway piano sound?
The gentleman is the Hamburg Steinway D., PianoTeq 8 has several steinway models as well
@@SamTheBeardGuy I think you meant to say The Grandeur (The Gentleman is an upright!! 🤣 )
What are you looking at buying for next year?
Nothing...except an upgrade to Pianoteq if a new version is released. Found my piano vst.
Hoping for a Keyscape update. They need a couple more acoustic pianos in my opinion.
@@zumadale Yeah, it's been a bit haha

How are you monitoring? I'm not doing anything other than pulling them up and playing.

The NI stuff like gentleman and grandeur are great
Hey have you tried some of the UvI pianos yet??
I still have not but I definitely need to
UVI has the Austrian Grand on sale for $29.
2:09 do you have any effects on the piano? just purchased the gentlemen piano.
I do all these dry, right out of the box. That way it sounds like you'd buy it.
Modern U VS THE GENTLEMAN
Which one do you like/use more?
(Optional: And why? :) )
Thank you!
I use the gentleman all the time, I love it. Modern U is great though
A buy? They come with Komplete.
Yeah, but not everyone wants to buy Komplete. You can buy them separately
