    i have all the VSL synchron pianos except for the CFX....just love the bass sound so i used all close mics and two mid ones....i also curve up the velocity curve giving it more louder sound....i just loved my digital piano...others might like the acoustic but having different concert grand piano sounds at any time is just great for a piano hobbyist

      Virtual pianos sound so much better than the onboard/internal sounds of factory digital pianos.

    Both of these pianos sound really good! VSL has done an amazing job with their sample library. Question: What model Roland keyboard are you using? I have a Roland RD800 (PHA-4 action ), and my Pianoteq software plays really nicely using that keyboard.

      Hi. That's a Roland FP90X. I don't own it anymore. My current piano is a Numa X Piano GT by Studiologic. I really like it.

    Hi David, thank you for the comparison. I'm currently demoing the Fazioli F212. I like the warmth and roundness of the sound of the Fazioli. I have been a fan of the Steinway and like how it cut through when performing with additional musicians. I wish I could demo them all.

    Hi David, could you please explain your computer setup. Are you using a PC or a Mac? What are the specs? What is the latency?

    • @Comfort_One_Another

      Hi. I have a Mac mini M2 pro with 32GB of RAM. Latency is set to 64 or less and I don't have any problems or glitches running the most demanding piano software. The M2 Pro laughs at whatever I throw at and says, "is that all you got?" 😀

    Hey David, I’m Nathan. We’ve talked a few times through comments on RUclips (I have the N1X). The last time we commented back to each other, you told me the N1X was history. This is my question. I just got the VSL Steinway D and I’m noticing that I’m hearing both the stock Yamaha CFX mixed with the Steinway when I play, especially with my headphones. Did you run into this problem? If so how did you fix it? I looked at forums and there’s not really much info out there. Please help…
    TIA

    • @Comfort_One_Another

      Hi. You have to turn off Local Control (page 37 in your manual) and then you won't hear the internal sounds when you play. You'll only hear the VSL piano. To turn off Local Control it's Function + C6 (C before the highest C). Hope this helps.

    The Steinway is much more alive.

    • @Comfort_One_Another
      @Comfort_One_Another  9 месяцев назад +1

      I can understand why it was seems that way. However, all the extra vibrating activity you hear in the Steinway can get wearisome to hear after playing it for a protracted period of time.

    Yes David, I heard the difference. I would have them both, but for me the Windows is too complicated for my
    internet skills. I have an RD-2000 and Nord. I can manage their downloads, but the Windows VSL is way over
    my head. Thank you for an excellent comparison. It would be nice if they had midi modules for lesser geeks.

    These are both fantastic. This 10 ft Fazioli sounds better than shorter models, I had found the treble was too high, made me cringe on higher notes , but this 308 CM length is much warmer. Just magnificent pianos.

    What can i say? These are fantastic pianos, i used to pick one over the other and change my mind after a day or two, but now i can safely say : all of synchron pianos are great, to the point that i say it's like choosing a real piano, you only have to worry about the type of sound you're looking for and not sampling/scripting nonesense cause all of them are excellent sampled/scripted virtual pianos❤
    My all time favourite is the bosendorfer 280vc which has a very authentic and alive sound to it, it feels as real as it gets
    Thanks David for this video

    The Fazioli sound more close-up than the steinway. I would suggest to only use the close microphones for the steinway D (condenser, ribben and tube) and turn the reverb off. This also gives a cleaner sound to the steinway.

    Yea very Good !! I also use the VSL D274 and have been very pleased overall. However playing keys around "D2" and a few surrounding semitones, I experience VERY harsh overtones and what sounds like an accompanying whistle to the note. It only happens around those few keys, is VERY noticeable when playing and occurs on speakers or headphones !! Have you experienced anything like this when playing the D274 ???

    Hi David, a question or two, but first I want to say thank you sincerely for these videos and comparisons of the different VSL pianos. You seem to have the best insight and comparisons online of these libraries, even better than VSL's RUclips channel. So my deepest gratitude! I love the harmonic overtones and metallic resonances of the D274. To me there's no other piano sound I love more. On the lovely worship piece you started playing at 5:12, would you say that's about as dry/intimate of a sound that can be achieved on the D274? In your other video I LOVED the intimacy of the Bosendorfer 280VC, is it possible to make the D274 sound that close/intimate/dry? I know they were recorded on different stages which has a big influence, was just wondering your thoughts? Thanks ever so much!

    • @Comfort_One_Another
      @Comfort_One_Another  8 месяцев назад

      Hi. The Concert D can go a bit drier. In the above video the preset I'm using has a surround mic (ambiance) included with the 3 close mics. Also, there is slight reverb added to a couple of the close mics. So the piano can be made drier, but not as dry as the 280VC, but pretty close. I think the sound stages really impacts the distant mics. The 280VC will never have that big concert hall sound (if that's something desirable) naturally. And the Concert D can be made pretty dry but not as dry as soundstage B. Hope this helps.

      @NatureSleepSerenity 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Comfort_One_Another Yes! This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I was thinking, If it could go another 10-15% drier that would be perfect, so that's all great news. Thank you and God bless all you do!
