Deep Purple Mk 2 reunion - Live in Paris 1985. For unreleased live and studio recordings of Deep Purple, Rainbow and Whitesnake go to www.liveonmp3.com
I had no idea that DP was not already in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame"! How can they leave out one of the best Rock bands that has ever existed, and Ritchie Blackmore is the best Rock guitarist that has ever walked the earth.
Ritchie's a star, a legendary artist, an iconic figure in his class. No body can make such kind of music these days which can dance to the string of the guitar. That's a pity. I remember his "Stargazer"... it's simply out of the world. What a combination - Ritchie-Dio-Powell... forever yours!
I have been listening to Fires at Midnight. Ritchie playing his guitar and various acoustic pieces with his new love in life. I enjoy Blackmoore's NIGHT very much. Hail from Michigan. Take care my friend and enjoy retirement. It sneaks up on us all too fast!
i love his incoherent noise as much as when he plays perfectly.he can do no wrong in my eyes.i love when hendrix made noise to.his solos are so well put together,i just look at this side of him as a balance to his perfectionist side.THANX AND RITCHY/PURPLE/RAINBOW/DIO/POWELL FOREVER
Hendrix said he made lots of mistakes because he was always creating, searching for something new. I’ve been to note perfect concerts, they are boring…
Ritchie rules. I wouldn't compare Vai and Blackmore because of their music, is so different. How can you dare to compare them?. Ritchie is mastermind and inventive!!
Happy birthay Ritchie! God bless you and thank you for wonderful music that you wrote all these years especially for Deep Purple music!! Long Live Ritchie Blackmore!!!
Blackmore is arrogant, moody and just absolutley BRILLIANT!!! Im 43 and been watching him since 13, be it with Rainbow, purple or the Medi music - Long live Blackmore!
hmmm, I've sort of tuned in and out of Blackmore over the years. This clip may serve to show why his following had been somewhat limited, but I don't see it as being a negative issue. As others have stated, he's jamming here, along with the groove, instead of taking the moment to wow the crowds with his incredible shredding abilities. He did do a solo at another segment of the show, which was very impressive. I saw it myself on the 1985 Perfect Strangers tour.
Well written, todzilla; it was a constant battle out there between Blackers, Paice and Jon Lord. Each virtuoso musician were constantly trying to outdo the others; this led to some of the greatest and most original; rock music this planet has ever witnessed.
Richie Blackmore's Rainbow was a hell of an album with Ronnie James Dio. Damn.....they wrote some awesome songs. I think he contributed a LOT to the start of heavy metal. With a voice like Ronnie James Dio's in his band, you can't lose.
Very Nice.Steve Morse are excellent but,Blackmore is a god of guitar,It has creativity and soul.Hes play guitar with the heart.Blackmore...we miss you.
This is all about wild aggression and showmanship. He’s obviously not trying to be that musical. When Blackmore wants to melt your heart with musicality he can certainly do so.
it was the 80s. He even said himself that sometimes he would get to a show and there would be people there that wanted to hear him really play the music, and then there were others that just wanted to "hear the business" 1984 was around the time Malmsteen's first album came out, everyone wanted to hear that fast stuff
Love the hand signals in the beginning. XD ritchie can play better than any other guitarist, and i do not mean that generally, i mean... i've compared him to a bunch of my other faves, but he can play their styles better than they can. its freaky! and WE MUST DESTROY RAP AND ROCK ON FOREVER.
Ritche... The only guitarist that's ever made a Fender sound like a fucking monster (In a good way)! With no fucking doubt one of the best guitarists ever. Hail Blackmore!
A lot of times Ritchie just does a lazy whale on your guitar solo. When he feels like working no other guitarist can touch him. He`s so good he doesn`t but much effort in it half the time
@Todzilla45 your definetly right. that's what makes them and their performances so unique and special. the recording of space truckin' on "made in japan" is one of my favourites. the fusion of lords hammond organ and blackmores guitar creates a divine acoustic experience
Blackmore rocks a lot.. amazing.. \m/ deep purple, led zeplin, the doors, jimi hendrix... 4ever an' ever.. if u ppl want to see something of this kind of guitar, hammerfall is the greates' right now... "hearts on fire" try it! see y' guys!
This is not a technical guitar solo but an artistic solo He is using the guitar to create sounds being sent thru Monster amps and is trying to get the sounds as big and wild as possible and put them in a solo Put yourself in his shoes after 35 years of playing guitar the man gets bored playing the same old stuff nite after nite He is letting his emotion out thru the guitar And you see and hear firsthand how emotionally disturbed this man is!
What's wrong with you people? This solo is just an exposition, freestyle, and yes, noisily shredded. Find the original copy of "Lazy" off "Machine Head" by Deep Purple. Unmatched perfection. No noise. No expository shredding. Just perfection. Open your minds and learn -- that Blackmore is ONE OF the most gifted guitarists ever born. Period.
Ritchie was one of the guys that made me want to play guitar, with his work on albums like In Rock, Machine Head and Made In Japan. By the time I saw him with Rainbow in 1977, he had lapsed into a flashy showman with very little substance, like this crap here. The melodic beauty, stunning tone and voodoo phrasing of solos like Highway Star had all but disappeared by this time, because Ritchie had vanished up his own arse. But in 1972, there weren't too many more exciting guitarists on Earth!
I agree...The choices the R&RHOF has made for inductees for the most part have been absurd at best. Though a few choices have been just...The Beatles, Black Sabbath and ZZ Top, and Cream to name a few. But all Deep Purple needs are it's fans. I have been a fan for over 40 years and I still believe ( I am a rock guitarist myself ) that Ritchie Blackmore is the greatest hard rock guitarist in the world, and the pioneer of the neo-classical guitar style. Deep Purple will be my fave band forever...
I've seen Richie in both Deep Purple and Rainbow, and yes live he is one of the best you will ever see, and yes he does change guitars, he has an old Strat he plays mostly, then brings out the cheapie to bust to smithereens and fling out into the audience, that's the theatrical side, if you get the opportunity go see him play live and keep your eys on him, better than chatting and whap, cheap strat upside the head!
Absolute, 100%, total, complete, and utter proof Nigel Tufnel was based on Blackmore turning it up to 11 and doing ridiculous and completely unnecessarily long and self indulgent guitar solos
@Parano666D I disagree with you when you say he is not at his best. This the man in black! He is absolutely in his world. This kicks, think about that! :
No it doesn't bother me at all if you criticize him, I know this isn't his best solo. It's just stupid to keep saying it again and again. We heard you the first 10 times. He's still better than most all guitarist, especially for as long and consistant a career as Ritchie has had. Plus he's written timeless classics. He does what he wants. Here's an idea, don't watch it again and we won't have to hear your ignorant comments again and again, that way we both win !!!!
You also speak the truth!! The best concert I ever witnessed was in San Diego CA in the mid nineties The line up was: 1) Dream Theater 2) Emerson Lake and Palmer 3) Deep Purple They were all fucking Awesome!
Deep Purple has a Live BBC Session CD. It includes "Maybe I'm a Leo". It has a real "raw" sound. You can tell it's in a small studio with a hand full of fans. Give it a try.
Some people think all rock is PFN, right? Ritchie had some leads were were technically precise (see Spotlight Kid) and others that were loose and sometimes out of control of which this is an example. Still one of the most under-rated guitarists IMHO.
@xuxis2008 If you simply want technique, check it out Deep Purple's Wring that Neck, from the Live in 1969 or Catch the Rainbow, from Rainbow's Live in Munich. For one thing, Ritchie already played sweeping arpeggios decades before the so called shredders started doing it.
One of my fave BN hit is Fires at Midnight. As R. is coming in with the strato... top joy.!!! Another great BN hit - for me - is Locked in the Crystal Ball (the 8 minute version). I bought the Secret Voyage CD only for that. (But "Circle" is also a fine work.) Thank for Your kind words. TBH I,m not retired, I work as a journalist, I stopped only playing in concerts as a "normal" drummer and have become a melodydrumm(b)er:) If You don,t mind I send a work of mine.
I had no idea that DP was not already in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame"! How can they leave out one of the best Rock bands that has ever existed, and Ritchie Blackmore is the best Rock guitarist that has ever walked the earth.
love this bold, improvising, tearing it up performance..blackmore is a legend!
I love the power when Ritchie kicks in the octaver. Pure genious!
Blackmore can do what the hell he wants. I love it!
Блэкмор с чертом, и тебя он возьмет.
+Igor Flexus yeaaahhh!!!!!!!!!
Yes, a devil..Yason Phoenix
I love how his crazy hand gestures are matched by the band at the very beginning.
Yes thats something quite incredible and he looks so cool there
This is blackmore being extreme abstract, still awsome, remember we all need to let loose and go wild!
What a beautifully crafted and technical guitar solo - you certainly need to know all your scales and modes to play this!!
I have been listening to Fires at Midnight. Ritchie playing his guitar and various acoustic pieces with his new love in life. I enjoy Blackmoore's NIGHT very much. Hail from Michigan. Take care my friend and enjoy retirement. It sneaks up on us all too fast!

Hendrix said he made lots of mistakes because he was always creating, searching for something new.
I’ve been to note perfect concerts, they are boring…
Of course he seems to be a fussy man, but this guy is one of the g.o.a.t. period. He's been on a different level since early Purple.
I keep watching the first seconds...over and over and over again.
He is the legend!
Ritchie is only one! The absolutely king of the guitar!
hmmm, I've sort of tuned in and out of Blackmore over the years.
Happy Birthday Ritchie !
Great time. I was somewhere in the crowd during this concert :)
Well written, todzilla; it was a constant battle out there between Blackers, Paice and Jon Lord. Each virtuoso musician were constantly trying to outdo the others; this led to some of the greatest and most original; rock music this planet has ever witnessed.
hes amazing!!
Blackmore at his best!! I love this!
Richie Blackmore's Rainbow was a hell of an album with Ronnie James Dio. Damn.....they wrote some awesome songs. I think he contributed a LOT to the start of heavy metal. With a voice like Ronnie James Dio's in his band, you can't lose.
Exactly right. I never saw Ritchie or Jon play the same solo twice :)
blackmore es el mejor incluso mejor q hendrix ningun guitarrista podra lograr ser como el
simplemente el mejor
Blackmore invented it. He was the source of inspiration for vai and so many more!
Flight of the Rat is phenomenal!!! So many wonderful trips between the sound machine while lying on the carpet and listening!!! LAZY!!!
you have to remember the time of this..its the late 60's early 70's..this is revolutionairy
This is 1985 Purple mark 2
det här va fan det skramligaste och migränframkallande solo jag någånsin hört!!
Your so right, Deep Purple w/out Ritchie is just " Shallow Lavender " !!!!!
Very Nice.Steve Morse are excellent but,Blackmore is a god of guitar,It has creativity and soul.Hes play guitar with the heart.Blackmore...we miss you.
I would consider him the first modern guitarist. Awesome solo!
Ho vissuto questa musica 50 anni fa sono stato fortunato.
This is all about wild aggression and showmanship. He’s obviously not trying to be that musical. When Blackmore wants to melt your heart with musicality he can certainly do so.

FANTASTIC SOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of times Ritchie just does a lazy whale on your guitar solo.
When he feels like working no other guitarist can touch him.

СИБИРЬ ЛЮБИТ И НЕ ЗАБЫЛА !
he is the man behind Deep Purple...
Yeah, I've had days like that too Ritchie; usually a rainy Wednesday
I agree...The choices the R&RHOF has made for inductees for the most part have been absurd at best. You also speak the truth!! The best concert I ever witnessed was in San Diego CA in the mid nineties The line up was:
1) Dream Theater
2) Emerson Lake and Palmer
3) Deep Purple
They were all fucking Awesome!
Listen to his solo on Child in Time- Made In Japan album.
Fantastic double picking on a Stratocaster with a "MAPLE FINGERBOARD".
I agree completely and the also forgot Thin Lizzy!
DEEP PURPLE
Il est bon ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Deep Purple has a Live BBC Session CD. It includes "Maybe I'm a Leo". It has a real "raw" sound. You can tell it's in a small studio with a hand full of fans. Give it a try.
what was always different about richie from my point of view that he lets his emotions control his guitar and he has the right tools for that
Wooot!...5/5*****!
@Flakevee Ritchie Blackmore underrated? I think you'll find he is widely regarded as one of the best rock guitarists of all time!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAESTRO!
You speak the truth!
IL MAESTRO ...!!!
deep purple deep rock
Blakmore numero uno.
Cool
that kicked ass
This is what Malmsteen does not possess. The "feeling". This solo is full of feeling.
Some people think all rock is PFN, right? Ritchie had some leads were were technically precise (see Spotlight Kid) and others that were loose and sometimes out of control of which this is an example. Still one of the most under-rated guitarists IMHO.
