    always love a white's boots review. the Mp service boots are phenomenal. Ordered a pair at the beginning of the year in brown smooth leather. Boy is the leather thick and the break in hellish. It's all worth it. Now it's my best fitting pair of boots. I haven't worn my red wing beckmans in forever. Bought another pair in my most coveted cinnomon waxed flesh during their blackfriday sale. Cannot wait to get them.

      Jiafei did you buy them directly from Whites or get the from Bakers?

    • @jiafei6833122

      @@Kingfisher1215 i ordered both pairs from bakers. Didn’t know my size, so i went with bakers and sent in my measurements/tracings. From many written reviews, white’s doesn’t have the best QC. Baker serves as a secondary line of QC; they also have amazing customer service in case there’s any problem with the boots.

      Jiafei I've been to Eugene many times and used to live in Portland. Next time I pass through I'm stopping there and at Truman. My daughter played soccer for years with girls from Scappose but I never went up there to visit Wesco. At least I have visited the Danner outlet out near PDX a number of times.

      Which do you like better the brown smooth leather or the cinnamon-waxed flesh

    • @jiafei6833122
      @jiafei6833122 Год назад +1

      @@jeffreykatz1330 the waxed flesh for sure. The oil smooth leather is simply unnecessarily thick. Depends on what you like and what you use your boots for, you may prefer one over the other. As a lab rat, the oiled smooth is too heavy duty for my needs.

    Nice review! I went with the White's Perry and am happy with them. More casual and easier break-in. Whiskey is a nice looking border collie. One of my four border collies was a red & white. She was a marvelous companion. She was a working (sheep and cattle) ranch dog before I adopted her.

    Leather laces must help with the bite as I didn't have any. Also, interesting to see no lace hooks. The MP Sherman that I have are eyes and hooks.

      As someone who put leather laces on the black whites perry boots, no they don't.

    Nice review! I've got the same one in green waxed flesh. Love them! The leather is so thick they're actually heavier than my engineer boots!
    I didn't have a problem with the lacing during the break in but for me the top of the toebox was very painfull on my toes. I'm used to iron rangers which have way more toe space so I had to tape in my toes during the break in haha.
    The stitching on the sole wearing through is not a issue. The stitching helps the sole stay in place while the glue settles and if the stitching is worn through the sole should stay on just fine!

  • @MordecaiAliVanAllenOShea
    @MordecaiAliVanAllenOShea 2 года назад

    Stitches won’t be an issue, it’s normal for them to wear away. The glue is more than strong enough to keep the soles on until it’s time for a resole.

    This boot looks very much like the Frye Logan Cap-Toe boot. Same rough out finish, made in USA.

    Going one whole size down and one width up works for these. Im 12 D on the brannock with a high instep and 11 E fits well. I tried 11.5 D and they're very tight around the toe box.

    How comfortable are these for you? Also, what is the shock absorption like? Thanks!

    • @harkerleatherworks
      @harkerleatherworks  2 года назад +1

      The vibram soles are incredibly uncomfortable, they’re very jarring and dig into the sole of my foot. Otherwise, they fit like a glove and are fantastically well made. I’d recommend going for the lug or mini lug sole if you go for a pair.

    • @JayceBroda
      @JayceBroda 2 года назад

      @@harkerleatherworks Sounds like a deal breaker. Yikes, why wear something that is incredibly uncomfortable?

    • @harkerleatherworks
      @harkerleatherworks  2 года назад +1

      @@JayceBroda I work indoors these days so it’s a nonissue. The Dainite soles are pretty jarring on cement- and downright unpleasant over extended periods. I think part of it is due to the all leather construction- Whites uses a leather midsole and shank, and there’s no cork filling to help with shock absorption. This boot would definitely benefit from an outsole with a softer compound, once these have seen a bit more wear I’ll likely send them in to my cobbler.

    I really like these boots and am trying to understand how the Cinnamon Waxed Flesh patinas over time. It seems like over time, with normal wear and tear, they will lose the cinnamon color and the very light brown, natural rough out, will show through. Is that accurate?
    Is there any way to keep the cinnamon color, or will the boots patina to the very light brown rough out?

    • @harkerleatherworks
      @harkerleatherworks  2 года назад +1

      Hey there! Yeah, over time the wax wears away and reveals the rough out. You can just treat it again with the wax if you prefer that look.
      I've got two pair of these, one of them is fresher. Here's some pics for reference: imgur.com/a/sGwuAaG
