I've had the Sky Stream Puck since January 2023 and i'm in an 18 month Contract and i can't wait till it ends. I have to reboot the Puck at least once a day and i have issues of the Sound dropping for a few seconds, which can be annoying while watching a programme. I've tried many times to change the settings but nothing doing.
Finally had the opportunity to look at Sky Glass in the Sky shop in Belfast this morning, unfortunately the three Irish channels RTE 1,Network 2 and TnaG are unavailable on Sky Glass. The two sales assistants sarcastically stated the Irish channels would become available then went onto say jokingly they’ve been trying to get them on Sky this last two yrs. I explained the Irish channels are available on Sky Q but are no longer available on the Sky Go app (Sky Go streaming app similar to Sky Glass) Both of them succeeded in putting me off getting Sky Glass their attitude and approach left a lot to be desired. Poor customer service with limited knowledge base on the product.
Apple TV. I just subscribe to a few streaming services Netflix, prime, Now TV, Disney + paramount, Apple TV+. So with all of that I have what I need. Don’t need a satellite subscription. To be honest I haven’t watched Satellite TV for years. Even when I had it, I didn’t even switch the box on. Also have ITV+ and RUclips premium for ad free playback.
@@stevemarruk However You could try to check which channels are only available on satellite and not offering the stream. For example the Horror Channel was offered inside my5 app but that is no longer the case

Nice review I actually ended up getting both switching from Sky Q to Sky Stream and buying the 2022 Apple TV as I had some gift cards. Sky stream I really like the UI and integration, had replacement remote and a new box due to daily crashing. . For the best app operation Apple TV is by far the best streamer with lightening fast operation and no laggy apps like those found on Sky Stream or many smart TVs. I wonder if Sky Stream will ever launch a Stream App on Apple TV, the more limited Sky Go app is already available.

Thanks for your review buddy, makes for interesting listening and viewing. I currently have the previous version and have never used it to watch live TV as I have Sky Q. I cannot see where/how you get a live TV guide - do you have to download an app and if so, would you recommend one over another? What I find frustrating with streaming devices, including this one, is that you cannot fast forward through adverts on catch-up (though I guess I've been a little spoilt with Sky Qs recordings - of course I know you cannot record onto Apple TV). Perhaps I'm missing something but I'm trying to decide whether to keep Sky Q and swallow the sky (!) high costs or bite the bullet and shelve it in favour of Apple TV/similar - I think I'd miss the recording element though and gather Sky Stream isn't particularly brilliant at the moment with glitches and bugs, losing wifi/ethernet connection etc.. - and I have a good broadband speed. Thanks again - I've subbed to your channel 🙂
Are you on the right track with Freeview Plus? Firstly, Freeview Plus is everything you say it is - but it's Australian! It does seem as though there's a British App called Freeview Plus but all it does is direct from one Broadcaster's App (say BBC iPlayer) to another (say ITV X). It doesn't allow the direct playing of any channels via the internet like the Sky Stream. Unless, of course, you have some secret knowledge. Fingers crossed.
That's what I thought so I went on a chat with them telling them I am reviewing and researching and they said that the way forward is the Internet not Ariel and that the new freeview Play will be all through the app
As you have the Apple TV plus the Sky Stream puck both connected have you had the HDMI CEC problem from the puck. Stopping your devices switching seamlessly.?
Yes yes yes what is that? What a pain in the back side that is. If sky puck is on it will switch to Apple TV but from Apple TV to say Google TV no. Only from sky puck.
@@stevemarruk Its a fault on the puck connection. Pin 13 on the HMDI not letting go of the signal. I will not change over from Sky Q until fixed.

@@stevemarruk I think it’s about that price as a one off payment, it’s really customisable and can show live channels from most apps, BBC iPlayer, Now TV etc. so you no longer have to go into each individual app to find a live channel, it features a full guide or now & next, and they all boot to the live stream right from the app 😁

Simply because I got so fed up freeview tv reception being so weather dependent. Glad to no longer rely upon an aerial. Ive never heard of freeview plus, too late now.
