    KEF’s best spkr was their ‘79 Model 105, which I still enjoy daily for the past 44yrs!😳. Their Uni Q driver has limited excursion, resulting in limited SPL’s, it’s not durable for extended high power level listening. I’ve recently upgraded to a set of Von Schweikert Audio Endeavor3 SE’s, which after a 6hr audition, I feel are the most accurate spkr in their price range. A pricey but worthy successor.

    beautiful that kef reference .. now I wonder, will the kef reference 102/2 be at the level of ls 50 in quality of timbre and naturalness?

    It would be good if we could see the back of the speaker while you're talking about it.

    Hello, Please advise what year did KEF launch these new Reference 1 speakers and do you know if there are any plans for KEF to launch a newer model Reference 1 speaker soon with Meta technology? Thanks.

    so could you have them as rear speakers up on the wall ?

    • @InfiniteBaffle
      @InfiniteBaffle  8 лет назад

      You can use them as rear speakers but theyre a bit too large and heavy to mount on the wall - we'd recommend using them on dedicated stands. If you wanted a more "discrete" setup around the back though KEF do some dipole speaker options that are wall mountable and you could go with 1 pair (for rears in 5.1 channel) or 2 pairs (for rears in 7.1 channel) with Reference speakers on the front,centre,sub channels. We have an open day coming up where we use Reference 1 speakers on the rear in a full KEF Reference speaker setup - see goo.gl/TTvxfz

      Smart thing, try Amazon. They have them, you not only can listen, but keep them for a month really decide. Don't buy the hype free return shipping.

    Good job. It would be better if in the future the videos would be shorter, or you could change the angle of the camera much more often, otherwise it could get boring.
    Best of luck

    what speakers are your personal favorite speakers overall , not just between those two.

      Tricky question as it all depends on partnering kit, budget, room etc. We always recommend just popping in to us to have a good listen to all the options and we'll make some recommendations based on your kit :-)

    Looks very nice...esp alongside the earlier version. Tri-wire is a gimmick. Even bi-wire I'm dubious about.

    Furthermore you should do a blinded test whether you can hear the difference between a 10 pound cable and a 200 pound cable. Test both cables 10 times randomly with the same song, if you get a 100% score you're an hifi god.

    OK so I "uummmmmm" quite a lot here. We'll watch out with that in upcoming videos - but having said that, we have a professional presenter Jane on our most recent videos who's done a much better job - check these out on our channel :-)

      +Audio Affair don't worry about the criticism. it is easy to pull people apart behind a keyboard having never attempted to do what you are doing. It's not easy presenting and I think you did a good job.

      Jonny Bingham it's not difficult at all. Write a script, memorise it and if you have to - have a few jump cuts.
      A days worth of work - really not much effort to do a decent video.

      You can see it as criticism or something you can work on to make your video more pleasant to listen to. I like your video but the uhm distracted me. Here's a genuine tip which is not meant as a sneer. Instead of saying uhm, breath out. Keep up the good work.

    So just how many times better are these 4000 pound speakers then my 650$ yamaha reference speakers? If the answer isnt 8x plus better, what a joke.

      Considering R300 wipe the floor with any Yamaha speakers and the Reference are on the next level compared to the R300 - a LOT.

      It's such a hard call. I went from audio engine a5+ to kef ls50w. At first I was soooooo disappointed. They were a smidge better but not much. But since then I've started to love them. These high end speakers are so nuanced. It's not like turn them on and you hear God! You really have to pay attention...but once you learn to hear it...you can't un-hear it.

    Are we supposed to pay for KEF's innovations? 4.5 k £ for a little bookshelf !? I choose Harbeth instead and every normal people should make the same decision. I don't pay for something I never asked for and I'm happy with usual speaker elements, not 2 -in-1. I still have and sometimes use an old KEF Calinda, "passive bas radiator" model, one more KEF's unsuccessful, failed innovation from '70s. Thank you KEF, find some other idiots who want to throw away 4.500 £

    • @InfiniteBaffle
      @InfiniteBaffle  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your comments Michail. Each to their own. You can always get *something* cheaper if price is most important factor although I do agree Harbeths are very good speakers. KEF have come up with many excellent innovations including their Uni-Q driver array - this isnt just marketing its proven technology and its clear to hear if you sit down with a pair of LS50 loudspeakers all the way up to the Blade models which feature this. We've met their designer and there is a lot of science that goes into their speakers. In this case yes they are expensive but we offer 0% finance options for this very reason and in the important aspect of their sound quality they are incredible and have been one of our most popular higher end bookshelf speakers. Also they are one of the most substantial bookshelf speakers we've sold ~ certainly not little :-) all we can suggest is having a listen to a pair as any scepticism on the brand will no doubt disappear when you press play. Very different sound to Harbeth and we like both sorts of sounds but isnt this part of the beauty of hi-fi, there are different solutions for different systems, rooms and personal tastes.

    • @aarons915
      @aarons915 4 года назад

      Yes you are supposed to pay if you want the best speakers money can buy. If you don't think Kef Reference would stomp all over your Harbeth speakers, see if you can get a pair and compare double blind, level-matched and in Mono.
